‘Viral’ Skincare Products That Are Actually Worth Your Money / The Hype! AD
Hello everybody, welcome back to my channel, where skincare is all about progression over perfection. Because, perfection doesn’t exist. Today we have a sponsored video from Cult Beauty, and what I love about doing these sponsored videos from Cult.
.. I’ve done a few before. Is that I get to choose whatever products I want, from the hundreds upon thousands of products that they have on their website. From K-beauty to iconic drugstore products. I love just browsing through Cult Beauty and making like little wish lists, and then eventually buying them actually but you know, mainly just wishful.
.. wishful shopping. And what I wanted to do today is pick out some products that have gone viral over on TikTok, these are products that have gone truly viral. I know that’s a very loose concept nowadays.
But these are skincare products that have gained so much hype but because they’re actually good. They’re actually good, they actually work. And if you want 15% off these viral items or more, use this discount code here at checkout.
Let’s start off with a sunscreen, this is the Shiseido Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF50+. Now, this is by no means new but if you are into Japanese beauty you will be very familiar with this product. It came out like a few years back I think but it’s picked up traction again.
Mainly because of how easy it makes reapplication of sunscreen over makeup, or over other layers of sunscreen. And also because it’s clear. And to be honest that’s really what all the fuss is about, because it is very, very good.
These kind of like roll-on sunscreens as a re-application technique are becoming more, and more popular. Because they are just so convenient. This is one of the better ones, there are some dodgy ones out there that are kind of too greasy, sting the eyes, smell a lot as well.
These clear sticks are also great for reapplication because you don’t have to do it at a mirror. You don’t have to watch that it’s not merging into your beard line, or it’s showing up in your eyebrows, or your hairline.
You’re going to have no white leftover cream. One thing I do like to do with sunscreen sticks, is to use them as my main application technique in areas that I find annoying to apply sunscreen. There is nothing worse than applying a cream sunscreen to your ears, and we must wear sunscreen on our ears.
But you’re always going to have like that leftover, you know, like cream residual in your ear. And it’s so annoying, and you can’t see your ears. So a clear stick like this makes the application around your neck, around the back of your neck, behind your ears, at the top of your ears, down the side so, so easy.
This also uses something called wet force technology which basically means that it’s sweat proof, and humidity resistant. Now, I wouldn’t say it was waterproof as such but if you do live in a more humid climate, if you get sweaty and oily like me in Summer, this is a great one to use and know that it’s gonna stay put, it’s not gonna sweat drip down into your eyes.
In all honesty this feels a little bit oily on first application but with a few really simple pats, like this, over the skin, that oiliness kind of like disappears pretty instantly. You can just apply a powder over the top as well if you want that instant matte look.
I don’t mind a bit of a sheen, we know this. But yes, this is a very, very good one. In the line of sunscreens, let’s talk about the Thank You Farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream SPF50. During the Summer of 2021, when all of our sunscreens got ripped off the shelves for not meeting the SPF promises, this is one of the sunscreens that was my go-to, that had our backs.
Because it officially met their SPF claims. According to multiple independent studies, this was way over SPF50. In fact, just a smidge over SPF60. And it’s basically a dupe for every sunscreen that we love, that got taken away from us.
But I use this before, way before anyway, it’s been around for a while and I’m glad it’s picking up traction. I feel like the brand Thank You Farmer needs a little bit more attention, they deserve it.
Now, whenever I see a sunscreen or any product actually, with the word water in it, I know that it’s gonna have that lightweight, watery, almost more like a light moisturizer texture that the majority of us want from a chemical sunscreen.
If your skin’s anything other than white, we can’t wear those mineral sunscreens. So, something that’s so lightweight and fluidy, and isn’t gonna leave a cast on our skin is what we want. It also means that it’s easy to apply, and reapply.
We don’t have to sit there or stand there for ages making sure it’s all rubbed in everywhere. It’s a super non-greasy application. It’s like water, you put it on, it sinks into the skin effortlessly without any greasy sheen throughout the rest of the day.
It’s got your usual hydrating, plumping ingredients in like Sodium Hyaluronate, and Aloe Leaf Extract. We have Centella in here for a little calming touch as well. I’m on their website and this also contains Mistletoe Extract, which the brand claims speeds up cell turnover, which I’ve not heard of before but fine.
This also contains some lovely moisturizing ingredients, so in the Summer when you don’t want to be layering up your skincare, this is a great moisturizer sunscreen. A Summer favorite, a Winter staple.
I tried so many sunscreens and this one will always be in my collection. Here we go, we’re taking it back a bit here but the next product is the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner. Now, I’ve picked the Cream Skin Refiner Mist for a reason, and I’m so glad people are starting to notice this product more, and more, and more, it’s an iconic product already.
But I do feel like as far as TikTok goes they are a year or so behind the trends. And products that have gone viral before are then going viral again on TikTok, as if their new products. And it’s the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner’s turn.
It’s an amazing cream toner hybrid, a kind of product that I didn’t even know should exist but I’m glad it does, it makes sense. This supplies so much hydration whilst also moisturizing. And its main goal, this product’s main goal, is to strengthen the skin barrier all whilst being super lightweight.
Now, the cream skin refiner in the jar is absolutely fine, it’s very lightweight. However, I tend to overuse my toners whether it’s on purpose or an accident. I used to find that I was maybe using a bit too much of it, and it would sometimes sit a little bit heavy on my skin.
So when it comes to the mist it’s a super fine… it’s a superfine mist, that you can layer up. In Summer again, it’s one of those products that you can just apply after cleansing, then go straight into your sunscreen.
Skipping a moisturizer because this does supply enough moisture. And in Winter it’s that extra dose of hydration and moisture that our skin craves those times of the year. So yeah, not that the jar version has anything different from the mist version, it’s the same thing but it’s the delivery of the product that I love about the spray.
Because you can do a light mist, and then add more, and more depending on how much boost of hydration and moisture you want. Making it an all year round friendly product. I mean, looking at the ingredients again it’s a really simple product.
We’ve got Glycerin which is hydrating, Meadow Foam Oil which provides hydration as well, and moisture. We’ve got Green Tea in here which is soothing. But it’s the way the product is so beautifully formulated to be light, yet so moisturizing but not heavy.
It’s, it’s just genius in my opinion. It’s an iconic product for a reason. I feel like it’s gonna go viral over, and over, and over. Oh, here’s a newish one for me but one I tried earlier on in the year that I actually did enjoy.
This is the Dr Jart Tiger Grass Repair Serum. It’s so good to see so many products going viral that are focusing on skin barrier repair. Which is in complete contrast to last year where we were seeing actives and, you know, 100% Niacinamides and all these crazy skin damaging, barrier damaging products.
It’s so good to see these repair products being the ones that are going viral instead. And I feel like that’s partly why Dr Jart Cicapair line is going so viral, because it is all about repairing the skin, calming down inflammation, redness, irritation.
And yeah, they’ve had a few products go viral. Some of them I didn’t like so much but this one I’m really enjoying. Again, this serum is targeted at those, as I mentioned, with redness, irritated, inflamed, and itchy skin.
Helping to calm and soothe these concerns, whilst helping build back up your skin barrier. This is a super lightweight, well… the website says water light but it’s not that light. It’s not that light.
It’s also not thick, it’s like, it’s slightly thick but when you spread it on then it turns into this kind of like slightly thicker than water texture. Still, incredibly light, not water light but very light.
And it provides an instant calming soothing effect on the skin. And with long-term use it can also help even out your skin tone, correcting things like blemishes, and redness that a damaged skin barrier can lead to, thanks to Niacinamides.
Of course the term cicapair, cica is referring to Centella Asiatica, or Azatika. If you know K-beauty you’ll be overly familiar with this ingredient by now but you will probably love it as well. It’s anti-inflammatory, it’s soothing and they’ve gone and put pretty much the whole plant in this product.
They’re really trying to make the most, and get the full benefits from the plant. It’s like a Centella complex including Asiatic Acid, Centella Leaf Water, Madecassoside, Centella Asiatica Mercedes Cell Culture.
So yeah, they’re really getting the most out of the plant, and getting the most healing benefits as well. It does contain a few essential oils which I’m usually a bit like… my skin isn’t too bothered about.
But again, this is where we’re reminded about the formulation, and if your skin isn’t bothered by essential oils, go ahead. The next product which I think we all know is worth the hype, the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, Salicylic Acid.
There’s a reason this product is as popular as it is, and a reason we’ve all probably used it, if not own it. Because it works for what seems to be everyone. That’s not always the case, not everyone needs to use Salicylic Acid but everyone who wants it for its pore refining, blackhead reducing, breakout reducing properties seems to really enjoy this.
This is of course a chemical liquid exfoliant that contains 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid, in the form of Salicylic Acid. Which helps reduce blackheads, smooth out tone and texture. We know BHA is oil soluble so it can work within the pores, really giving them a good clearing out whilst getting rid of dead skin cells, etc.
So, of course alongside Salicylic Acid we have Green Tea in here, which is really, really soothing. Of course Salicylic Acid has some soothing properties itself. I mean, and that’s kind of it. It’s obviously got some things in there like emulsifiers, and things to make the texture nicer, and all that kind of stuff, and preservatives.
But, it is just such a simple product, in the best way, that works. It’s formulated nicely, so it’s not overly sti… you get a little bit of stickiness but it’s not overly sticky. It dries super quick, you don’t have to wait around fanning your face for it to dry down.
People who do not understand skincare, like my brother Robert, love this product because they see the difference in their skin. They might not know exactly what’s going on but they see that difference, because it is so good.
So easy to use. And honestly, for the amount you get in a bottle like this, it’s such a good price. Again, another product that I always have lying around. I know I can fall back on it if a BHA isn’t working for me, or I’ve been experimenting with others that just aren’t quite the same as this.
But yeah, great product, really good product. Fraicheur Ice Globe. So a lot of you have been tagging me in their advert for this because I appear in their advert. Alot of brands that do use my videos, they take them from YouTube, pretend I’m using their products and post online.
But that clip that they’re using is actually from a video I did a long time ago using their ice globes, and I gave them permission to use it because I absolutely love these products. Now, whilst they’re very, very popular, they’re not exactly going viral.
But what is, is applying ice and cucumbers, frozen cucumbers to your face. Which is stupid. The only benefit you’re getting from ice and cucumbers directly on the skin is a nice cooling, de-puffing, tightening, temporary tightening effect.
But what you’re also doing is risking damage to your skin by applying something so frozen directly to your face. You aren’t getting nutrients from rubbing a cucumber on your skin, you aren’t getting vitamins from rubbing a cucumber on your skin.
That is not how things work, you can’t just rub something on your skin and expect it to go in, you know. However, I do enjoy the benefits of cryotherapy, so cold therapy. Tight looking skin, temporarily tight looking pores.
I get like a little bit of redness but then my skin just looks bright and even, all temporary results, that do last a very long time. If my skin is hot or flaring up with rosacea, cryotherapy is something I definitely do and I find very, very helpful.
And that’s where these globes come in, amongst a few other products, these globes are probably the ones I’ve been using for the longest time, they’re just reliable. So these are globes, this is actually my second pair.
So these are basically globes filled with like an anti-freeze, so you can put them in the freezer, they’re not going to freeze up and go very like, horribly ice cold. But they’re very, very soothing and calming.
You can just stick them in the fridge as well if you don’t want something too cold on your skin. But they give you that cold cryotherapy without the potential damage, without the water dripping down your skin, without it being unbearably cold and painful.
If you watch the video I did about rubbing ice on your face, I got brain freeze from rubbing an ice cube on my forehead. You don’t get that with these and the temporary brighter looking skin, more even tone that you get, it’s nice.
I really, really like it. But also, if you do have inflamed irritated skin, your skin’s itchy, these make such like an instant relief from that as well. So yeah, they’re not something I use like religiously but they are always in the fridge just in case.
Viral alternative, don’t put cucumber or ice cubes on your skin, please. The next product is the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm. So you probably know the Laneige Sleeping Mask, whilst it is an iconic K-beauty product it had like a little moment two years ago, maybe.
Where everyone’s going crazy for it, and loads of brands including the Cult Beauty started to stock the product. Everyone loved it, it was a viral, a truly viral product that I just didn’t get the hype surrounding.
I’d actually wake up with dry lips. I just didn’t get the hype. However, I’m a fan of Laneige, and now we have this daytime alternative, the Lip Glowy Balm going viral. And I love this product, I love this product.
In my opinion it’s miles better, and it even works as a great sleeping mask too. It’s that moisture locking occlusive layer that feels glossy but isn’t sticky. Your lips feel protected but not weighed down, and depending on how much you use, you can even make it like really, like a really thin layer that looks like a little bit of balm.
Or, you can really build it up and make it glossy and shiny. And there are, there are slight tints in these, I don’t see the tint personally. I’ve got like all the flavors, and I just, I don’t see the difference when they’re on my lips.
I taste the difference though, and I smell the difference. Don’t eat your products. So we have Shea Butter in here, unsurprisingly, to of course supply moisture. But also helps soothe those chapped, and irritated lips that are kind of at the point of breaking.
You know when they like start to rip apart. We also have Dimethicone in here which sounds so boring, it’s a very common silicone. But in my opinion, through lip masks and lip products that I’ve used before, is the best silicone at creating that protective layer over the lips, over the skin in general.
This product is just such a nice daytime, evening, however much you want to layer it product. And again, a product that I’ll buy over, and over, and over. And have owned over, and over, and over. And finally, we have Glow Recipe which is really having a moment on TikTok.
And I have saved this till last because you have heard me talk about Glow Recipe non-stop. Non-stop. Even to the point where people accuse me of being secretly sponsored by them, because I love them. And you’re probably sick to death of me hearing talk about.
But in particular, pretty much any of their watermelon products are some of the most iconic products of all time. You see their packaging, you know who it is. You smell it, it’s got a very distinctive smell.
And whenever you see watermelon you think of Glow Recipe. What I like about the brand is their focus on hydration, gentle exfoliation, and gentle actives. Which, at this moment in time just seems to be what is suiting my rosacea flare-up prone skin.
Hello baby. Especially their watermelon products, give you this glow from within kind of look. Which to me is a good sign that your skin is well hydrated and moisturized, and just cared for. The Exfoliating Pore-Tight Toner is one of my favorite products, not just from Glow Recipe but of all time.
It merges the Korean facial trends of combining exfoliation with hydration, and works gently to gradually give you more even skin tone, tighter looking pores. Alongside the Niacinamide Dew Drops, which is a product that I’ve never used before.
It’s not quite a primer but you could use it as a primer if you want. But it’s just got no makeup ingredients in, whatsoever. But, it gives you this makeup style, temporary glow, whilst working to give you that glow long term.
So of course everything in this video is from Cult Beauty, all the links can be found in the description box down below. So there we have some skincare products that are going viral, and in my opinion, deserve to be going viral.
