STOP the Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkle Propaganda
hi Sharon Danni here with another two minute tips this week I’m back on the soapbox stop stop stop with the anti-wrinkle and anti age jargon I am so tired of it like aging with something to be fearful of scared of oh no you’re not getting old are you you’re darn tootin I’m getting old and I’m getting wiser and smarter and more experienced and more loving and more kind and more ready to wave the flag carry the torch do whatever it is I need to to embrace and feel good about myself at this age I will not buy any product that is going to support the anti-aging anti-wrinkle thinking I will not buy any magazines in fact I haven’t for probably most of my life but specifically in the last 10 years will not because it’s all about telling us how we’re not making it we’re not good enough but if you buy this product or if you buy these shoes or you wear this outfit or you have this lipstick everything will change for you it’s just all that you need so that you won’t be getting older because God knows nobody wants that too well fashion industry hair industry makeup industry I have earned every wrinkle every mark every scar that I’ve got to date and I earned it the hard way in some cases the easier way in others but they are what they are they are my badges of honor my badges of life my badges of survival my badges of love my badges of experience I’m feeling good about myself and I will not let any of you tell me that I’m not good enough especially when you’re at least 30 years my junior so anybody that agrees with me how can we help to change the system the consumer machine the bye bye bye bye bye well one of the things that I do is whenever any person behind a makeup counter uses the term anti-wrinkle or anti-aging I say stop please do not continue in your conversation with me using either of those phrases or anything else that relates to that and of course I do it in a humorous way wherever possible and then I ask them I do a little education I ask them to please pass it on to their supervisor that’s wherever I go now can you imagine if most of us said these things to the people selling as products it would get back to the powers that be can you imagine if we just didn’t buy the magazines that you know say these kinds of things about us they certainly get the idea pretty soon wouldn’t they also the other thing you can do is write a letter to the companies I have written to them and I’ve had some good response in the past actually from Maybelline i wrote them about one of their products and they were very good about it and what you do when you write you you make them think about mm-hmm maybe we shouldn’t maybe we should take a different approach something it’s like with politics it’s like with everything else if each person became engaged in saying this isn’t working but this would maybe we could help to change things along with embracing our gray hair and embracing the Asian stage that we’re at we can still be active and help to change the paradigm shift a little faster perhaps anyway I’m back off the soapbox we’ll see you next time you
