Skincare That ACTUALLY WORKS! Beauty Bay AD ✖ James Welsh
Hello everybody, welcome back to my channel, where skincare is all about progression over perfection because perfection doesn’t exist. Today, I’m going to be sharing more skincare products that just do what they’re supposed to do, they just work.
We all know a lot of brands make a lot of false promises, so I’ve tested quite a few, so I’m here to share the products that live up to their promises. Today’s video is sponsored by Beauty Bay. I’m going to start off with some of Beauty Bay’s own skin care.
If you’re not already aware of Beauty Bay, is the go-to destination for all things beauty and skincare. I spend hours on Beauty Bay making baskets, and then leaving it, and then making them, and then leaving it, and then editing it, and then buying it, eventually.
You have everything on here, you have brands from all over the world, you have K-beauty on here as well. Some of my favorites I’m going to share today. They have roughly 7,000 new launches on their website every single week, and they also offer a reward program called Tribe, where points earned can be exchanged for vouchers, and other perks.
You may be familiar with Beauty Bay, they’ve done like a few influencer collaborations but they also launched their own skincare back in 2018, which I’ve reviewed, sponsored and non-sponsored, and today I’m going to share some of the beauty based serums I absolutely love, and a few new releases.
I also have a discount code available for you to purchase some of your own beauty based skincare. I really recommend the cleanser, it’s really good. Let’s talk about their Skin Calming Serum. As the name suggests, this is a serum to help calm and soothe your skin, redness, inflammation, damaged skin barrier.
This is the kind of treatment stage you want to use, when your skin has gone through a bit much, and you kind of want to simplify your routine to like a cleanser and a moisturizer, but have that treatment stage in there to really, really help soothe your skin.
This has Cica which you know, I love my Cica serums, it’s known for being anti-inflammatory, and really helps calm that redness, it’s soothing. And then we have Mush… is it Mushroom? Yeah. We’ve got Mushroom in here, hang on, yes Mushroom Extract, which I said it was gonna be in a lot of skincare in 2021 because it is such an interesting ingredient.
Again, known for being anti-inflammatory but also has antioxidant properties as well. It can also help even out your skin tone. This is really quite a simple serum in a very nice way, it’s very lightweight, it can easily slot into your routine, and plays with other products very, very nicely.
I recommend applying this onto damp skin, gently massaging it into your skin, and then immediately following up with a moisturizer. So yes, definitely one to have in your skincare rotation, if you often experiment with skincare, like myself.
Speaking of skin barrier recovery, this is the Balancing Serum, and this serum helps your skin barrier recover. Again, I feel like this year is the year of taking everything slower, minimalizing our routines, and really protecting that skin barrier.
We have Centella in here, Madecassoside, which again, is soothing and healing, wound healing. So any other irritation you get from a damaged skin barrier is going to be instantly soothed, and it is instant, like you you feel it, like you know, you feel it straight away.
This also has Lactobacillus Ferment, I think it’s pronounced, which is a probiotic, which has some interesting studies behind it. It’s thought to protect skin against environmental damage, and again we have that Mushroom in there, which is another anti-inflammatory with antioxidant properties.
So it’s an interesting, two very, very interesting products. Really simple formulations with some of the best ingredients in, to help balance and calm your skin, and soothe. I must say, the Calming Serum is becoming a personal favorite of mine.
Okay, so let’s talk about some more products on Beauty Bay that just do what they’re supposed to do. If you’ve been a longtime subscriber of mine, you’re gonna recognize this one instantly, this is the COSRX Galactomyces Tone, 95 Tone Balancing Essence.
This contains 95% Galactomyces Fermented Filtrate, and this really makes, this a nice moisturizing and hydrating essence. It’s kind of also known as like an anti-aging ingredient, it’s that whole story of the the saké on the hands of the factory workers, and their hands look really young, you know that whole story.
But really, it’s what it’s formulated with that makes this such a nice product. You’ve got your Niacinamide in here, which we know is like, for me, the be-all and end-all of good skin. For me, Niacinamide was a game-changer when it came to balancing out my sebum production, my oils.
Not only that but helping my skin look brighter and just more awake. Happier looking skin. We have soothing Allantoin, and Panthenol as well. This really is a product that all skin types, and conditions can benefit from.
If you’re looking for a product that’s kind of like, in between your toner, and serum, kind of hybrid, it gives you that constant dewy, plump skin, and when you use this on damp skin, the bounce that this gives your skin is so nice.
They do a toner like the same Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Toner, I love it. Speaking of COSRX, let’s talk about the two in one, Poreless Power Liquid. You know I love the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid, right.
I would say that this is for those who are a little bit more on the oily side, so you have your Betaine Salicylate, which is the exfoliant in here, and that’s a combination of Betaine of course, and Salicylic Acid, and this is kind of, not like a gentler version, but it’s more moisturizing, nourishing version of a BHA.
Again, with Allantoin, and Panthenol, it’s a super, soothing product. But this is one of those products that does make your pores look tighter, without drying out your skin. Now, it does say it tightens them with Tannins.
When formulated nice… I think we all know Tannins from Witch Hazel right, and we presume that that’s like a really drying down ingredient, that’s just gonna make our skin go to crap, but it’s not, if it’s formulated well.
In here, it’s formulated with all these moisturizing ingredients. So whilst the BHA is going into your pores, and actually like cleaning out the pores from the inside, the Tannins are giving you the appearance of tighter looking pores, alongside your pores actually being seen to.
So I love this, I don’t use this anymore because I don’t find myself getting that oily, but again, an amazing, amazing, amazing product that just does it’s job. Let’s talk about Farmacy, this is Farmacy Clean Bee Facial Cleanser.
This is a new one that Beauty Bay sent me. I’ve used this before, because I’ve become a little bit obsessed with Farmacy. Well, their products are very hit or miss for me, they’re not all good. I don’t like their moisturizer, I like this cleanser, and I like their cleansing balm, and their AHA serum is really, really nice.
Again, this is typical of a lot of cleansers nowadays, in the sense that it doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped. This has got fragrance in, which a lot of people are usually fine with when it’s in a wash of cleanser, but it’s, it’s got a fragrance that gives it that smell of honey, do you know what I mean? Like it gives it like that, almost like, that honey candle smell.
But this is soap free, and Sulfate free, you know. When formulated properly, Sulfates are absolutely fine but a lot of people prefer just to not use it, and that’s fine too. This does foam up if you like really go for it.
I find that it foams up in my facial hair a fair bit, but really, if you’re just gently massaging this over your face, it doesn’t really foam up all that much. So we have Royal Jelly Extract and Propolis Extract, which for me, are really just moisturizing, hydrating ingredients.
I love them in my hydrating toners, and serums but partner with Glycerin, you’ve got Aloe in here, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, you’ve got some nice humectants. We also have Licorice Root Extract as well, which is known for helping to even out the skin tone.
So you know, really take your time massaging this around the skin but this is one of those products I always talk about, to do a double cleanse, you don’t necessarily have to use an oil-based product or a cleansing balm, and then your, you know, normal water rinse away products.
You can use your same cleanser twice. This is one of the very few products that I found personally, that does this successfully. So layers, and layers of sunscreen, this helps take it away without having to really scrub or work at your skin.
Oh speaking of double cleanse, remember when I, like a week ago, I insulted Clinique? The Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm is like an iconic cleansing balm, that is, it’s just amazing, it’s just amazing.
Okay, you know, because it’s so simple, it’s so simple. When I say there’s nothing special about this, I mean that in the best way possible, and this has about nine ingredients in, which usually, you know, it doesn’t matter.
Less ingredients doesn’t equate to a better product, this just does what it needs to do, it’s just a very generic cleansing balm. I feel like a lot of cleansing balms nowadays, are a cleansing balm but with this amazing property to it, and this amazing property to it, and it also does this, it’s like, I just need something to take off my layers and layers of sunscreen.
This reminds me a lot of the Banila Co Clean It Zero, but the texture of this is a lot nicer, it’s easier to work, and rub into your skin. You don’t get those weird like, little white clumps that you do with a lot of cleansing balms, and it just massages insanely easily into the skin, and I find myself taking a lot less time using this, than other cleansing balms, with so many said other benefits.
I didn’t like the cleansing oil version of this, I’m more of a balm kind of person. You know, I could go through the ingredients but it’s literally just like preservatives, and emollients, and you know, emulsifying ingredients.
It’s basic in the best way, and for £26 you do get a lot, and you barely have to use anything to be honest. Again, because of the slip on this product, and the fact that it just gets to work straight away, no fuss, no frills, means that this is going to last me a very, very, very long time.
I think I made a mistake in my previous videos as well, saying that Clinique had too much alcohol and fragrance in, whilst a lot of their older products do have a lot of alcohol in, they’ve always been a fragrance-free brand.
I think I got like a moisturizer mixed up with an Olay one or something, so whilst I don’t love the whole Clinique as a brand, their cleansers are pretty good. This cleansing balm is really, really nice.
I wish I could see more about it, but it lives up to the hype that it gets on the internet, it’s an iconic cult favorite for a reason, but there’s just not a lot to say about it, formulation or ingredients wise, because it is what it is.
It’s just a very good cleansing balm. So there we have it, those are some more products that just do what they’re supposed to do. Let me know your products, that you were actually surprised that they actually work, and they just do what they’re supposed to do, and again, all these products are available on Beauty Bay.
