RANT: Skincare Buyer Beware – How to Avoid Purchasing Fake Beauty Products – Walmart, Amazon, & Ebay
hey guys so i thought i had to do a video on this uh it’s a little bit of a long story but anyway so a couple nights ago i was doing some research and i love this product the cycoplast bomb from la roche posay then after doing a little bit of research i found they made a gel version of this which really piqued my interest and i really wanted to pick it up so i think no problem i’ll start searching so first i go to look fantastic and they won’t ship it to the us i go to another site that typically ships a lot of products to the us i believe is care to beauty they won’t ship this specific product to the us i finally go to the roche post’s website they won’t ship it to the u.
s i’m like well someone’s got to sell it so then i go to amazon uh their la roche posay store and actually lrp has them listed as an authorized retailer a lot of people give amazon a bad rep for their skin care products and it has been a huge issue and probably is still an issue however generally if a product says it’s sold by laroche jose it’s generally safe you have to check out the shopper info where they’re shipping it from their name if it’s the brand or not and then do a bit more digging but generally i found that to be pretty safe and the fact that la roche posay uh says amazon’s an authorized retailer is a big deal so i look there not available for anyone in the us so i keep doing some digging and finally i find a couple sites that will ship it to the us uh one was on walmart the roche pose a cycoplast gel and actually it’s got a uh review from somebody saying that they were very happy to be able to get this now in the u.
s so happy uh so i’m thinking oh wow well i might be able to get this even though it’s a little bit more expensive you know if i’m able to get in the u.s i’m happy about it however there’s only a couple sellers on it and the more digging i did on the sellers they’re really not um in my opinion the most reputable sellers i don’t know where they got the products from but generally if a product is unavailable to ship somewhere on all these authorized retailers and you find one person that will ship it to you that’s a cause to be a little bit concerned about i also found another website which i won’t mention but they would also sell it in ships us and the website looked very legit it had a legitimate name it had some legitimate looking reviews however once i dug deeper into that website’s information and there’s sites you can go to like trust pilot or site jab or before you purchase on a website because a lot of these are like fly-by-night companies where they’ll have this nice website design selling all these products that i really want to buy that i can’t get in the us but they have them somehow however when i go to i believe it was trustpilot all these reviews were from people saying i paid it’s been four months or is my product or i paid i got a product and it’s empty i paid i got a product and inspired three years ago i paid in a product i got was full of water yadda yadda and so on and 10s 20s 30s 40s of those reviews so i go back to the website and i look for their contact information there’s no address nothing you have to email them actually you can email them they have a form that you fill out so that’s like a red flag even though the website looked legitimate had a legitimate name selling something i really wanted i have a feeling it was counterfeit it was fake it was expired i don’t know where they got it from is it real i don’t know so really what i’m coming here to mention is because all these people in walmart are so excited by this product and i don’t know if it’s real or not it is possible it’s real it’s possible it’s real it’s possible expired five years ago whatever but just be wary walmart and ebay are kind of like the wild wild west for skin care and i personally think amazon’s a lot safer bet when you look at the seller and even if you purchase from walmart or ebay look at the seller do your research because some of those people are fly-by-night people you don’t know where they’re getting it from i mean sometimes i assume that like the person had traveled and brought like 100 of these tubes back to sell them at double the price but i pretty much know nobody’s traveling from the us to europe and not bringing products back at least in the last like almost year so normally i would be my assumption my second assumption was that they’re just fake the seller after i did more digging has connections to manufacturing so it could be just manufactured fake goods i don’t know but just do your research check on the seller and when you see these websites that are selling products that are hard to get somewhere or you know they typically aren’t shipped to the us just it’s a red flag or if the prices are really good another red flag just do your research check out the seller info in my opinion amazon is not perfect there’s people have mentioned that you know if laroche poses selling this and five other people are selling this it all ends up in the same bin so the real ones could end up with the fake ones i don’t know if that’s true leave a comment if you i’ve heard that to me it sounds contrived and not necessarily like it makes sense but i don’t know so you know i’ve got customers for amazon i have to ask her but i don’t talk to her she’s like several states away but anyway i should ask her about that but that’s my thought so be very weary of anything even a website with like a real legit name i mean some of these companies will set up this website run it for five months shut down start a new website the next week just selling fake crap to people that don’t know any better and it’s sad and you know i’m even somebody that knows a little bit about it i almost fell for it so i can fall for it anybody can and it’s just unfortunate to spend your hard-earned money on things that can be fake and if they’re fake they’re even worse i mean they could have uh rat droppings in there cyanide just all kinds of stuff so it’s the wild wild west out there sometimes if a product is too good to be true and you can’t get anywhere else but you can find it one place something’s up with that so anyway that’s what i want to share with you guys i’m interested if you guys have any stories comments thoughts leave a comment i love hearing from you guys give this video a thumbs up if you liked it so i love hearing from you guys and stay tuned for more tomorrow thank you so much
