hi everyone welcome back to the channel my name is humeira if you’re new here so this video i’ve had to film this video a couple of times i wasn’t feeling the first one and uh yeah here we are this video is going to be about my skin journey i have a lot i’ve been getting a lot of questions from you guys asking when i will be filming a skincare routine and i thought like it’s only right that i bring you guys along the journey of of uh of the struggle basically uh what i’ve been through what i’m currently going through and i just thought it would be best if i share that with you guys so i would like to take you guys back a couple of years actually let’s start from when i first started getting my acne i remember my first um the first time i ever noticed um my face breaking out was back in genesis 3.
my face started breaking out i was getting pimples here and there just a few ones as you all know you get as a teenager and i thought it was just like a phase thing i would grow out of it eventually and all that at first so uh but it never disturbed me i was never i was never what’s the word concerned about it at first so yeah fast forward to graduating from high school and my face getting worse and worse and worse my mom took me to a dermatologist who at the time said to me that it was a hormonal issue i’ll grow out of it blah blah blah blah blah we all thought that was it so i would get recommended so many different products so whoever sees me every different person would tell me okay try this product out stop using this product how about you check this out from the natural remedies to the uh to the to the medical products to to all these chemical products so you know how all this uh off the counter medications for acne tend to bleach your skin i was super against that but out of desperation i would try that out my skin will lighten it will bleach my skin and i would hate myself because i hated anything that would light in my skin i was doing the the lemon and turmeric thing it was also lightening my skin because i mean stop using lemon on your skin guys it’s actually no good for your skin um yeah and all that i remember my mom saying okay there’s this good uh gynecologist in uh in kano why don’t we go see her and see what is up with the hormones like what’s going on with the hormonal issue and because you know like it is an issue if you have hormonal imbalance it can be a big issue so my mom took me to see a doctor she uh she she checked me and she said okay it could be a hormonal imbalance situation and the only thing we can do is wait it out how about when you get married come back and we can see about that let’s see how how fast you can get pregnant or when you get pregnant then we can determine how and how serious the imbalance is so yeah basically she just said let’s just wait it out and see so she wasn’t giving me any any um solution to my problem and um yeah to be honest it got to a point where i was just like i don’t care i don’t care you can say anything about my face i don’t really care but then deep inside i was worried as well and um my family was worried as well my mom especially and my dad my dad will will literally say to my mom whenever he whenever he sees my face his heart breaks that’s what this is what i’m going through or this is what i have to go through and i remember she called me one day they went for umrah and she called me she said so your dad did a lot for you today he prayed that allah um blesses you with a clear skin and get rid of all this acne and uh uh when she told me i got a bit emotional and i mean that is like a typical thing my dad would do but i’m the love for him god bless his heart um so yeah uh i’ve gone through so many ups and downs with my skin i’ve had good days i’ve had horrible days i mean it couldn’t get any worse than it did back in 2017.
guys i was at a phase in my life where i didn’t really care about it anymore i was just like okay this is what it is i would just have to learn to live with it if anything i would just get something a treatment maybe just get a treatment that will basically clear out the spots you have the pigmentations you have just get a routine that will clear out your pigmentations the acnes will keep coming and coming and coming but the scars they left behind was what i hated the most because at the end of the day if a spot comes out and it dies out let’s say in a week or two or a month depending on how long it’s willing to stay on my face the least i can do is get rid of the pigmentations that it leaves behind so i was in the hunt for anything that would um basically take out the spots i have on my face without it bleaching my skin which was so difficult so um fast forward to 2017 my friend recommended i see her dermatologist she was seeing that dermatologist at the time so she said okay how about when you come we go visit her she examines your skin see what’s happening then if she can give you anything because i really really enjoy going to her because she has treated a lot of my skin problems and i was like yeah sure we went to this dermatologist she was super nice super nice when i was she literally the moment she saw my skin she was like okay what you’re going through is what we call a cystic acne you have a severe cystic acne and uh yeah from what i see that’s what it is and i was like oh wow this this lady knows what she’s doing because when i went to her i was like remember i said i wanted to get rid of the pigmentations and all that so when i went to her i said to her i was like okay maybe give me a facial give me some microdermabrasion because i think that that is the only thing like that can vacuum out my pigmentations to give me a microdermabrasion give me something that will just get rid of the spots not the spots but the pigmentations and the scars it leaves behind i remember she said to me and this is how you know your doctor knows what they’re doing she said okay we are here not because of what you want but what you need how about i examine your skin see what’s happening to it see how we can get rid of it or how we can tackle the situation then we can go from there she said no microdermabrasion let’s just see what your skin is going through and find a solution to that and i said okay fine she examined my skin she said yes this is definitely cystic acne the only way we can get rid of this significantly the acne itself and the way to do that is for us to get rid of it from the inside so i need you to go get this test here as she had me take a a blood test she checked my liver said everything was fine we can go with an oral medication so basically this medication is called zoratini it’s a very very strong antibiotic before i started she asked if i was married i said no are you going to are you are you pregnant i said no she said okay because with this medication you can’t be pregnant you can’t get pregnant to take these medications you can’t have liver any liver issues because the side effects of antibiotic can it can lead to liver damage deformation of babies it can lead to depression anxiety so many side effects maybe i will link i’ll put on the screen side effects of this medication so i was i checked everything i checked everything she had me feel out of form i think yeah i filled out a form i checked everything and yeah we started from there so she put me on this medication for i think 10 months yeah i was on this medication for ten months i started on five milligram every other day for a month then moved on to five milligrams every day for a month then 10 milligrams every day for the rest of the month so basically after every month i came for updates i had to get blood tested every month just to see how my body is reacting to the medication i did that for like three or four months after every month i came back for follow-up appointment she would check my skin she would do some extractions um after the first few weeks of taking this antibiotic my skin started to break out like crazy literally like crazy guys this side of my face this side of my face was ridiculous like oh inside pictures so if you guys don’t like seeing blood or extractions you can skip to some parts of the video inside in the description where you can skip to um so yeah after a couple of months a couple of weeks my skin started reacting to the medication i was happy about it because i knew deep inside she knew what she was doing and this this antibiotic was supposed to do that so i was happy about it so the first uh for my first follow-up i went to this i went back to the doctor she saw my skin she was like wow she checked she examined my skin she was like okay this is good this is good how about we do some extractions so she extracted what she needed to extract she took out all the blackheads and and she wasn’t taking out the larger pimples because she didn’t want to leave large scarves on my face and she wanted them to dry out on it on their own but she took out the blackheads now after a month or two i think my skin started to clear out because um in conjunction with the is that the word conjunction oh wow it is actually look at me knowing all the big words oh really okay so yeah together with the the so when i started taking the the oral medication she also gave me some some cleansers which by the way i have here to use for washing my face and she gave me a benzomycin gel to use on my face as a moisturizer but in the evening because you can only use it at night she also gave me a sunscreen because my i had a lot of things happening to my skin and my skin my my face was so sensitive so i had to be using that was when i started using sunscreen religiously guys like i don’t leave the house without my sunscreen so i was put on a sunscreen cleanser moisturizer benzomycin gel what other thing a toner as well i think i think a toner as well so i was using those regularly at night i would use them i would use the benzomycin um clan gel i use the cleanser day and night and then i had one other moisturizer i don’t remember what but i had one other moisturizer that i used regularly as well i was super happy about my skincare routine at the time because i was literally seeing difference by the day literally by the day i would see the friends whenever i tuned my skin because i used cotton pads to to tone my skin my skin was shedding i would see my skin on the cotton pad like literally my skin was shedded and i was super happy about it so yeah after a couple of months i went back to her she saw she would still extract but whenever i went to see her i’m like please give me a facial please give me a facial i need a facial and she’s like no no no no no we just need extractions we can’t go for we can’t do anything now we have to wait at least a couple of months more before we do that she recommended i see her sister who is a beautician i love their journey they are so nice they are so cute together what she the older sister is a dermatologist while this younger one is a beautician so when you’re done treatment upstairs you go downstairs for a facial or beauty treatment basically so after i think four or six months for six months yeah i think after six months she she said okay and now we are at the point where you can go get a facial and i was super happy about that actually i will link in the description um the facial i got because i think it’s still on my igtv so you guys can go check that out i had a lovely facial i think the facial i got was the oxygenal oxygenate oxygenol i don’t know what’s the name of the facial it’s like an oxygen facial i got that i got that every month every month yeah i got the facial every month so the first time i got it from my sister she checked my skin and i was given a new i was i was given a new um skincare routine so after the first facial she she had me buy new products for my skin i was i was still using this cleanser by the way i was still i mean to this day i still use this cleanser i love love this cleanser because it’s so mild um it doesn’t really do anything but calm your skin and dry out my skin and yeah so yeah yeah after that i got um yeah she put me on the skinceutical which i i swear by so i was using their toner and their one other product i think the moisturizer from if i remember correctly i was put on those products she puts me on the zoo skin also guys if you know where i can go i can find the zoo skin care is in obagi if i can get it here in nigeria please leave in the description so she puts me on that vitamin c i love it so much um i was given a new um so i was still using my cleanser and my sunscreen i was put on a new toner a new moisturizer a vitamin c serum religiously following that routine till up until i think last year i mean you saw me use in the first video in my first video if you guys haven’t watched my first ever youtube video um i shared with you guys my skin my skincare products and uh i was still using the skin the skinceutical cleanser at the time and i’m still using this i mean i’m not using it currently but the the retinol the skin certical retinol i love this yeah i think yeah after my i started my skin i think a year after my my my i started the treatment my skin was at its best or inside pictures of course my skin was at its best and alhamdulillah that was around the time i was getting married i remember my dad would say um if so anyone says well your skin is looking amazing my dad would say oh i’m attached those beautiful days guys i wish my skin would look that i mean i know it’s really inshallah but i can’t wait for it to look that good that was that that was when i had the most confidence in myself guys my skin was looking amazing so yeah fast forward to me getting pregnant with zayn my face well it wasn’t as bad as as it was at the beginning but my face was looking bad i was breaking out mainly around my cheeks that’s where i mostly i mean as you can see that’s where i have the most pigmentation yeah fast forward to having dylan and all that i knew what my skin needed and i knew how to go about it i wasn’t going to be on the antibiotic because i knew it has done like it has done what it needed to do now i need to i need to get consistent with my skin care routine so um a friend of mine introduced me to the aesthetic clinic i i reached out to them i booked an appointment luckily they were coming to abuja so yeah i met the lovely doctor who checked he examined my skin he said okay i’ve heard your concerns and i think the way to go about it is give you a routine that you have to be consistent with i was like fine give me all the products what do you have he introduced me to yeah so he he gave me um uh a cleanser this is the cleanser which is uh which is basically a face wash form of the benzomycin gel i was telling you my doctor gave me so he put me on on this gel on this cleanser this is their in-house product rejuva skin which is a retinol another form of this another form of this but with more ingredients in this one because this is pure retinol and this has other other vitamins in it also retinol i’ll put everything you need to know about retinol as you can see here the aesthetic clinic this is the in-house product um he puts me on this soothing cream because my face was going through a lot because there is a lot of active ingredients here also he puts me on this serum i use this in the morning and i use in and i use this one at night there is one other product he puts me on but i’ve run out of that one it’s like a concoction of things that they make there’s that one as well but i am out of it if i can find a picture of it i’ll insert i use that as well at night so i would alternate this one i use four times in a week the other one i use three times in a week straight so i use that one for three days then i use this one for four days actually salicylic acid face mask i use this one as well you know i swear by hyaluronic acid from ordinary i ran out of this i ran out of that just yesterday so i use that as well i am going to order another one i use that as well so yeah that’s currently my skincare routine and this is the current state of my face as you can see i have come a long way i’m super happy with everything i’m super super happy with everything i had my follow-up appointment with them i was supposed to have it actually when i was in lagos but they had no no available um appointment date so i couldn’t get an appointment then um they came back to abuja just last month i tried to no actually earlier this month but when he checked my skin he was super happy about it this is good progress and um yeah we can’t do anything else because i thought he was going to give me a pill and i was against it i was like if he says he’s going to give me like a chemical pill i’ll tell him no please let me just get regular officials i would rather get facials than get a chemical peel fortunately for me he said you don’t have to get anything i am not going to give you any pill i think i would recommend you go get a facial and i was like he said go get a facial because your face is clogged your pores are clogged oh yeah he recommended i go to skin 101 to get the plant’s facial which i did i’ll maybe insert clips yeah maybe i’ll show you guys that i had a facial my skin appreciated it so yeah i’m super happy with my skin it’s looking i mean i have some scars that i need to work in but it’s nothing serious i can get rid of that with time but at the moment my pores are smaller my skin is smoother and i just feel so much happier as you can see i have so much more radiance i mean with the sweat and everything i have so much more radiance on my skin i’m super happy alhamdulillah by the way you guys keep saying mashallah alhamdulillah
