Esthetician Reacts To Supermodel’s Skincare Routine | Miranda Kerr’s Skincare & Kora Organics
lavender mist this by my pillow 32 ounces of celery juice okay is this just mario badescu 2.0 this is not skincare supermodel miranda kerr’s nighttime skincare routine she’s a supermodel she’s a mom she’s a business owner but does she use products other than her own brand and is her brand cora organics any good is she a mom hang on oh she has three okay and for those who don’t know or are new here hello my name is cassandra benson i’m an expert and have been in the industry for over 10 years and i’ve personally suffered with acne for over 15.
i’m a medical esthetician and although i’ve worked alongside and with both doctors and dermatologists i am not a physician myself that being said i love analyzing scrutinizing and learning from other people’s skincare routines and discussing the business behind beauty which is what we’re gonna do today with skillshare but let’s react to this routine and break down everything that she’s using and how she’s been so successful with both her modeling career and this skincare brand and what they have in common when the kids go to bed at night i get to have this little self-care ritual for myself and i really look forward to it because it gives me time to nurture me for skin care i only use coral organics products they’re certified organic and healthy for you and also deliver powerful results i don’t want to put anything on my skin when it comes to my skin care unless it’s going to be actively working and giving me results that i need i just celebrated my 37th birthday and i’m happy to say that my skin has actually never looked better and i honestly know that that’s because of coral organics there’s a there’s a lot to unpack right here skincare is definitely self-care i’m so happy that she sees it in that way and i hope this channel inspires you to do the same she mentioned she only uses cora organics now don’t get me wrong when you’ve created a line or worked towards the chemistry and formulation of these things i understand wanting to use a lot of them because you’ve made them you love them you know how good they are but i think it’s disingenuous to say that you only use one brand if you look at anyone’s cabinet they have multiple brands in them and it’s really hard for me to believe that people like miranda or even rihanna with fenty only use one brand i think it’s fine to mix and match and i think it’s fine to admit that we switch things up when we need to or when we want to try new things i’m not calling anybody a liar here but that automatically makes me a skeptic then we get into wanting to use organic products because they work better or this was a hard sell when it comes to organic natural is not always better when we think about it medications or synthetic products are often more potent and more efficacious and even safer than natural products and the reason why is because we can control exactly how powerful they are and we can test them to actually see what they do on the skin for instance if i take some plants and i put them in skincare one year maybe those plants were grown in optimal growing conditions with sun and water and you know nice little plant friends to hang out with and then maybe next year there was a drought so just because you’re using the same type of plant doesn’t mean that you’re getting it from the same source or that it is always grown in those same conditions there are natural brands that i do love for instance juice beauty they actually back up their claims with science which i appreciate they do have powerful plant actives however just saying that something works because it’s organic that is not substantiated even in food don’t get me wrong i buy some organic groceries i do like some organic things however you really have to look beyond the marketing and the pretty photographs and at the science which we’ll get to in just a second here i use coral organics cream cleanser so what i do is i just put a few pumps on my hand and then i rub it into my skin like so and i like to double cleanse so that i remove all the makeup lately i’ve been using these sponges because i feel like they help remove all the makeup these sponges are great they are from audacity we actually use these in clinic and a lot of medical aesthetics or even regular aesthetics spas use these however you don’t have to pay this much for them these look like the exact same ones that you can get on amazon for much cheaper and if you’re using them on someone else they’re disposable but if you use them only on yourself you can actually reuse them they’re really great they’re gentle for the skin and i love that she mentions double cleansing but is the product any good that’s the real question rub it into my skin does anybody have anxiety that she’s leaving the faucet running while she’s washing her face pat don’t swipe to dry the skin i love it and when we actually turn and learn those ingredients this one is quite surprising at 30 it’s not ridiculously overpriced and organic ingredients usually do cost more so it’s nice to see that this isn’t an arm and a leg when we look at some of those main ingredients they’re actually really good we have chamomile extract aloe vera leaf juice we do have wheat protein which can be soothing to the skin subtle alcohol is nice because it gives some slip to this product we have glycerin for moisturization and we actually do have some macadamia seed oil which would remove you know tougher makeup such as eyeliner or mascara when we do look further down the list we do see a bunch of things that could be irritating for some especially bergamot oil there is no purpose for bergamot oil in skin care other than scent and it is one of the more likely culprits to cause issues in skincare as well as lavender oil you know olive oil which i don’t totally love these could help with makeup removal but that’s about it limonene as well for smell it’s a terpene and fragrance ingredient if you don’t mind fragrance in your skincare and if you don’t mind these plant ingredients this is a decently priced really good product unless you have sensitive skin or you don’t react well with fragrance or if you have eczema or like really inflamed acne then this is not for you but anybody else it’s not half bad after i’ve cleansed with that gentle cleanser is i use the calming lavender mist i spray a few spritzes and breathe in the aromatherapy of lavender i’m happy this is relaxing her but i’m looking at this i’m like okay is this just mario badescu 2.
0 like what’s going on in this bottle so relaxing i also like to keep this by my pillow so i can spray it on my pillow before i go to bed as well but this um lavender myth this is not skincare this is aromatherapy and that’s an airplane whoa okay actually pleasantly surprised a little bit overpriced at 42.
i don’t see this toning the skin very much so again this is a more sensorial product first ingredient is actually alabadis leaf juice which could be hydrating it’s not that bad second is not lavender oil or lavender essence it is lavender flower water which is better than lavender essential oil um we do have glycerin which is great sodium pca is great you do have regular water again this is an overpriced fragrance at the very bottom we do have some lactic acid so maybe there’s some slight exfoliation or penetration going on here overall this is an aromatherapy or a feel-good product this is not a necessity in your skincare and i would argue that you could use a you know korean essence if you want something similar it either costs less or does more for your skin so it’s you know a mist and it turns your skin i just mentioned that i don’t think it’s a toner you see the purpose of a toner is to rebalance the ph of the skin and to help your other products penetrate deeper um with the aloe with the glycerin it’s a little bit more hydrating i mean maybe maybe with the aha acid i would say it’s kind of a stretch though this is not going to be as good as a toner toner this is not this is aromatherapy i then use one of my all-time favorite products the noni night serum this has natural ahas and bha ferments and i’ll put a few pumps there so this noni night serum i absolutely love and it’s helped me a lot with my pigmentation so with each of my pregnancies i developed pigmentation on my forehead you can see you’ll see a little bit of it there and it feels kind of tingly when i put it on which i really love and don’t forget to put it on your neck and your decolletage as well wow so again found out today that she has three kids and i love that she’s opened up about her melasma this pigmentation i didn’t know that she struggled with this and again pigment is part of our skin it is natural it is wonderful but sometimes pigment can happen unevenly or in little spots or patches or even after an acne blemish which can be frustrating for some specifically in pregnancy the body goes through tons of changes and hormonally the body goes through changes as well and sometimes those hormonal changes or those body changes can cause changes in the skin which can end up giving you what’s called like a melasma mask or like a melasma pregnancy mask that some people deal with sometimes this goes away after pregnancy um sometimes it stays a little bit longer but like she mentioned you can use aha and bha acids to help with that um so this sounds like a great product but let’s turn and learn the ingredients and see if it’s actually that good wow i am like very pleasantly surprised i was not expecting this we have lactic acid which is fantastic again for pigmentation it looks like a high amount as well we have avocado oil and water which is why the lactic acid and the bha can be in there we have lactobacillus ferment this is fermented bacteria grape juice glycerin glycerol steroid um it looks like there was a couple of different phases in the manufacturing of these products if you want to talk about cosmetic chemistry and again down the list we do have some more of those plant and fragrance ingredients so if you don’t like fragrance in your skincare you’re not going to like this but overall um it’s not a bad product i’m actually quite impressed we even have hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate which is your hyaluronic acid we have tocopherol which is vitamin e it’s a little expensive at 72 dollars but you know what i don’t hate this wow so next is the coral organics noni glow face oil and i’ve been using this oil for over 10 years now and it’s my holy grail product so i put a few drops in my hand here yay to not swiping it across your forehead if you do it’s not the end of the world oils don’t grow bacteria the way water does and products have preservatives in them so that things don’t grow but it’s nice to see her just go drop job job and pat pat pat it’s a nourishing treatment oil that’s great for all skin types especially if you have sensitive skin it helps balance the ph and what i like to do is pat it into my skin to the noni extract rose hip oil sea buckthorn oh okay so this rate here tells me that she has no idea what the f she’s talking about ph stands for potential hydrogen and oils do not have a ph value because they are oils they are nonpolar molecules water and things with hydrogen have a ph because that’s literally what we’re measuring is the hydrogen within an acid or a base um let’s look at the ingredients maybe this isn’t just a pure oil maybe this has other things in it too um but off the bat i’m like oh okay here we go again with these celebrity skincare lines people who don’t know what they’re talking about but they’re willing to slap their face on something to make some money it helps with scarring and even my husband uses this product he loves it he uses it every morning and night and it’s really transformed his skin as well it actually sounds pretty good but let’s check out the ingredients and see if there’s actually any water in here like anything that would have a ph or if this is just all a blend of oils so i don’t see how this product can have a ph because it’s pretty much all oils we do have some grape extract and then we do have some clove flour extract which um maybe some of these extracts have hydrogen or free hydrogen in them but overall i don’t see that happening now other than that it’s actually a really decent oil we start off with rose then we have some jojoba which is one of my favorites we do have sunflower which is pretty decent for skin tocopherol which is vitamin e um and oils usually are a little bit more expensive i really like this they say that it’s fragrance free it does have geranial so i don’t know how they’re saying it’s fragrance free and hypoallergenic because that is a more sensitizing ingredient but overall uh again i don’t absolutely hate this i just hate the bs marketing claims that celebrities make when they don’t know what they’re talking about but again we all have to learn sometime i used to not understand the ph scale either and that’s why i took the time to learn and now we learn here together massage my face with our gouache tool i have two here right now but most people only buy one i have two because i love doing a double massage it feels so good and it really helps improve circulation as you can see my skin’s getting a little pink as i was saying you don’t need to use two it’s just that i love them so much it’s made from rose quartz crystal i like to use it sometimes in my hands pressure point there there’s another little pressure point here i love what she’s talking about when it comes to massage massage and especially pressure points on the body can be very relaxing and very stimulating um these are 58 which are a little bit overpriced again if you really want the rose quartz if you really want the heart shape then i can see spending that kind of money on it but please know that you can get these for 10 to 15 dollars and as long as they are made from stone and not from resin um they work exactly the same you could also save all of that money and just use your hands i’ve actually done a video ranting about this click this open it in a new tab and thank me later the next product is the nomi radiant eye oil and this nerdy radiant eye oil is an incredible product it has a rose quartz roller ball it has natural retinol in there from the ingredient called kahi oil um so it really helps with those fine lines and wrinkles so at first she said eye cream and i rolled my eyes because we’ve been over why eye creams are crap 150 times over this sounds like again a glorified face oil that they put in a tiny tube and sell you for more um but she’s saying that it has a plant form of retinol so are we talking about like beta carotene vitamin a like what are we getting at here sometimes i just sit there and roll it around and round and round on my eyes and i also do it on other little fine line areas let’s turn and learn those ingredients and when we do guess what we find this is almost exactly the face oil with a couple extra ingredients do i or do i not rest my point that eye creams are overpriced moisturizers and this is the same um she does mention that it has some of these extracts again some of the additives we do have here are the coffee extract for a little bit of vasoconstriction if you do have purpleness under here there’s some tomato fruit extract which might have some lycopene um there is beta cytosterol which is actually similar to cholesterol and then we actually have like a seaweed extract they definitely have things that are beneficial in them but i would not go as far as to say this is a plant-based retinol i would say that even bacochial is better than this this is an overpriced facial oil with added benefits you could use it under your eyes but you could also use it all over your face and vice versa so there’s that the very last step for my skin care before i go to sleep is my norni globe sleeping mask i keep this next to my bed and i use it every single night it’s like a coconut jelly that contains natural hyaluronic acid and so it locks in the moisture it dries as a translucent veil and it is super nourishing and hydrating and locks in all of the active ingredients my mum’s so obsessed with it she uses it day and night you can also use it as a quick um flash hydration treatment so you put it on leave it on for like 10 20 minutes and then wash it off um i used to do that a lot back when we were doing red carpet events i would use this as a quick flash hydration treatment automatically anything that comes out of a celebrity’s mouth i’m like okay um but let’s actually turn and learn and see what this is about because so far i’ve been pleasantly surprised by this line 48 400 milliliters so again it’s actually not terrible but what’s aussie ingredients actually again i’m pleasantly surprised we start off with aloe then we have some glycerin which is probably giving it that soothing hydrating feel and that veil feel we do have some phytosterol esters we do have coconut extract not coconut oil um so for acne i wouldn’t be afraid of this but i would definitely patch test first we have that noni fruit extract which probably has some antioxidants great guar gum great xantham gum we have some oils we do have salicylic acid which could help with acne and actually give a little bit of glow this is not an acne treatment product but this actually seems pretty good we have betanine again my biggest concern with this are some of the fragrance ingredients which i don’t actually hate um so wow i’m i’m pretty darn impressed i definitely know of better sleeping masks the retinol avocado one from glow recipe is going to be 10 times better than this and it’s a better price but i’m mildly pleasantly surprised while we’re here let’s talk about how miranda kerr strategically got into the beauty business you see she’s a supermodel but that actually played very well into what she does with her skincare brand i don’t think she knows cosmetic chemistry i think that she probably had a little bit of say about what ingredients goes in but she’s not someone who’s in the lab day in and day out so why is this line so good and actually what is the beauty business that makes us buy from a marketer’s perspective well you see a lot of people don’t know to turn and learn their ingredients and so instead of looking at the back they just look at the front and when they see miranda kerr they see her beautiful skin they see her instagram photos look at just her instagram photos and you’re blown away by her beauty or by the lifestyle she’s living right and so core organics is really an extension of that she’s not just selling a product she’s selling her lifestyle she’s selling this idea of what you want to be and obviously using her glow eye oil is not going to make you you know a supermodel with victoria’s secret or look the way she does even however it does help us feel more connected to these people that we idolize or that we look up to or that we want to be like it’s also so interesting to see the branding and the packaging you know she is i think originally from australia and even the packaging has this very blue kind of this gentle relaxing feel to it and there is so much that you can dive into from the psychology of color to the psychology of typography and different fonts how certain fonts actually make us feel different even in restaurants or on certain websites you’ll notice that some people have the dollar sign in front of the price which makes you think of money strategically certain companies take this dollar sign out because when you see that price without the actual dollar sign it’s the same price but it doesn’t feel as expensive if you are interested in learning more about this the internet is your oyster there is so much information online but i understand that some of the biggest issues are distractibility for instance you want to learn photography on instagram or you want to learn beauty marketing branding business branding but it’s hard to find that information in logical orders or to kind of progress through next steps and how to’s and that’s where skillshare comes in skillshare is an online learning platform and the way i’ve described to others is kind of like if youtube and netflix had a very creative business savvy baby skillshare is where experts share their information on certain skills that talk about fields such as design such as marketing branding user experience product packaging and yes even instagram photos i signed up recently i took a look around and there was actually a very interesting course on instagram photography which by the way i got back on instagram i have such bad social media anxiety that i avoided it for a long time because i need everything to line up perfectly and then i’m like wait it didn’t happen in the same order that happened in my life um it’s very stressful like it gives me a lot of anxiety but this course helped open my eyes to some new photography ideas and some new ways to approach instagram and social media marketing and you know i’m working through my anxiety and i’m posting i’m making it work i think one of the biggest kind of value propositions which you’ll learn about that skillshare has is the fact that everything is organized very well so things are put out in an order that it’s easy to follow or that it’s easy to take step by step and the courses are long they could be an hour to three hours each however they’re broken down into five to ten minute chunks so it is kind of like youtube meets netflix for learning in creative situations i feel like especially if you’re interested in some of these topics but you don’t want to pay a college or university to take a course in user design or in product marketing because it’s not specific to social media or to what your interests are this is a really good place to get your feet wet and to learn a little bit more if you’re bored and quarantined it’s a great place to learn a little bit more and you know that i’m always about global good and something that skillshare really emphasizes is the idea of community and collaborative learning you know and experts in their field teaching others and kind of taking those ideas and using them to create social good which is why i personally post every single one of my instagram photos along with an unedited photo so if you want to see the photoshop that actually goes on in some of these things feel free to click as i mentioned skillshare is kind of like learning netflix in the sense that it’s only ten dollars a month uh the good thing about that is that if you don’t like it you can cancel at any time skillshare is giving away two months of their premium membership for free but it’s for only the first 1000 people who click that link and sign up if this is something that you’re interested in i would highly recommend it and even if you don’t make it within that first 1000 it is only 10 a month and you can cancel at any time seeing as the courses could be one to three hours i would highly recommend going on there and like making a list of your top courses and seeing you know can you sit down one day a week and go through each one see how you like it see what you learn and then take some of those learnings and actually put them into action revamp your instagram profile with some of these photography tips learn a little bit more about user experience or about product and package design and see where you can apply that in your own life or if you can spot the companies the applications and the beauty brands that are using these concepts in real life again i am very grateful that skillshare is sponsoring this video however i want you to know that if you do sign up i don’t get any kickbacks i don’t get paid based on how many people sign up and if you use that link to get two months free it does not raise the price for you ten dollars is the price whether or not you use that link it’s a gift there if it’s something you’re interested in and again because it’s two months for free and it’s only 10 months after i have found it to be a more organized form of learning specifically creative trades and i would recommend it if it’s something that you’re interested in too i also think that a lot of the concepts that are in some of those videos and in the business of beauty as well are swept into this line and again that’s how she’s been able to become so successful because this line is an embodiment of her and just look at the instagram photography they are taking some of the tips that were literally mentioned in this skillshare course so look at some of your favorite beauty brands look at coral organics and the other ones and see how they’re kind of copying some of these same things because as proven by psychology they’re proven to work um i have a neckline slimmer and so i saw this advertised somewhere quite some time ago and when i was going through cleaning out of my closets i saw this little guy in there and i was like this is hilarious i’m gonna try it so i saw it and people were saying well just like we exercise our body we need to exercise our neck and so lately i have been exercising my neck look you just use it like this yep the reason i cringe so hard is because my 80 something 90 something year old grandma got swindled into buying one of these to get rid of her neck wrinkles this is not going to get rid of your neck wrinkles and honestly i don’t think these machines do very much we’ve spoken about facial yoga and how it can actually cause premature wrinkles if you think of your face and how the anatomy of your skin actually works um so i do not recommend that there are devices that you can use that are microcurrent machines two that are over the counter are from new face and foreo has their new bear which is actually really good both of these send microcurrents of electricity into the skin and actually flex the muscles underneath the skin if you really want to tone up the muscles in your facial area that is what i would recommend and if you do want to get like your sternocleidomastoid or your platysma muscles you could do this but like get some yoga it’s better for your entire body these machines are bs they’re charging an arm and a leg and ripping off my grandma oh amazon says it’s 9 or 13 if you want to waste your money on some plastic go ahead um but i don’t see a lot of purpose in these what else do i do outside of my skincare routine for the health of my skin 32 ounces of celery juice just go all the way up up up almost every day oh my god okay so she actually goes through a bunch of extra steps she talks about her model diet and green juice i highly recommend you watch the full video because i have left some steps out but um i’ve seen these massagers online i don’t actually hate this one i’m sure it gives you a good massage but it’s like what five hundred dollars is what they’re asking for online three hundred dollars that’s a lot of money also the internet commercials on these are terrifying if you’re in public don’t watch these commercials on full volume that’s all i have to say about that her skincare routine shockingly impressive skincare is self-care try to see your routine as not a routine but a ritual and make this an act of self-love hygiene is yes necessary but also you taking care of yourself and that also means you know your entire body as well as your mental health and your brain by feeding it with new information creative learning and youtube videos like this where we dive into skin science make sure that like button is blue and subscribe if you haven’t already again i left out some of the things she talks about like her breakfast so please check that out here and if you want to look at skillshare and see if any of the topics would fit some of the things you’re interested in learning feel free to do so always remember to be youtube inside and out and i cannot wait to see you in this next video love you guys bye
