Empties 2020! Skincare, Haircare & Beauty Products I’ve Used Up | Would I Repurchase?
hey guys welcome back to my channel for today’s video we’re going to be doing another empties video you guys seem to really enjoy my last empties so here we are again with things i have used up and i’ll explain if i’ll repurchase or not and why and i think there’s a couple things in here actually that i haven’t fully used up but i just don’t personally love so i’ll give them away and i’ll explain why of course when we get there as well so if you want to see a bunch of my freaking empties you’re in the right spot we have a lot to get through so let’s jump right into it you guys i can’t feel my face right now no i actually can’t feel my face i feel like my jaw’s gonna fall off i’m not doing great it’s not my best moment i think i’ve been sitting here already for eight hours filming eight hours all for you and that’s because gosh eli and i just moved which i told you guys recently so that took up my normal filming time so i’m trying to make up for last time here so we don’t fall behind on the upload schedule and i actually had an entirely different video already planned to film for you guys and i do not have the brain capacity for it in-depth reviews on products talking through ingredients actually takes a lot of brain power for me to be able to communicate everything clearly and make sure i’m hitting all the points that i want to hit i don’t have the brainpower for it so i’m going to film that next weekend stay tuned because it’s going to be a good one that i’m really excited about but i felt like this allowed me to be a little bit more laid back so let’s hang out last video of my eight hour bender that’s probably going to turn into 10 hours after this let’s do this and let’s start off with the first product that i have which is actually one of those that i have a lot left of i have hardly used this because it just doesn’t really work for me spoiler alert this is the igk trust issues instant scalp rebalancing treatment it says that it’s going to rebalance the scalp it will leave dry irritated scalps soothed refreshed and hydrated it has apple cider vinegar to refresh and rebalance use lemon extract to nourish apparently and all those things sound great but when i looked at the ingredient label i saw butane denatured alcohol and propane and those ingredients are things that you will find in dry shampoos i mean they’re in this as well things that need to actually spray out of the bottle that’s how you get them to spray but when we have a product that’s specifically designed to soothe a dry irritated scalp that feels really confusing and a little bit backwards to me because a product like this a dry shampoo cover it up and spoil it it’s supposed to absorb excess oils so it does the opposite of helping with dryness you know so it does have some other really nice ingredients in it don’t get me wrong it has coconut oil towards the top of the label other kinds of nice extracts and oils that i think would benefit the scalp but i feel like a product like this should have been formulated and maybe i don’t know i don’t know how you could formulate it i’m not a chemist to make it work but this is just not it for that type of hair concern so i personally wouldn’t recommend this it didn’t work for me i don’t really deal with an all-over itchy scalp i get that question a lot since i only wash my hair once a week i’ll link some of my hair videos below including how i wash my hair once a week if you are curious and want to know more but i don’t get an itchy scalp all over thankfully i just get an incredibly incredibly itchy scalp at the base of my scalp only because that’s where i have seborrheic dermatitis so i know that once we care washing is not ideal for that condition but my hair will literally break off if i wash it more frequently because the hard water here is so damaging in minneapolis so i pick and choose my battles it’s not ideal but this product is definitely not going to be for those of you that have itchiness due to a scalp condition don’t do that at the very least next let’s talk about this since i was already holding it up it’s the tresemme between washes volumizing dry shampoo i love this stuff it works so well i am very picky about dry shampoos i’ve reviewed some before i’ll link that review below as well and for me i need it to have a nice scent but not a lingering scent because that gives me a headache and a scent that’s not overly sweet or sugary or artificial i don’t like that this has a good fresh scent that smells good but it’s not too overpowering or intense and doesn’t linger so check check check i need it to absorb my oils it does a great job at that i’ve definitely tried dry shampoos before that just don’t do that for me absorb my oils well and not leave a white residue on the hair which this one doesn’t once i just blend it in with my fingers so i think this is a great dry shampoo i love this i’m definitely going to repurchase it’s so affordable it works so well and it fits my needs next is a dry shampoo that after i have continued to use i am no longer really a fan of it’s the eva or ava nyc freshen up dry shampoo it says it cleans without water absorbs excess oil and keeps hair fresh longer for all hair types it just doesn’t work the best for me now that i’ve tried so many dry shampoos and that tresemme one i was gonna say l’oreal the tresemme one which works great for me and then i have something like this to directly compare this just doesn’t absorb oils as well the bottle’s so cute this one smells really good i don’t know something about it almost makes my hair look a little bit more wet and then dries down a tiny bit shiny i don’t know i used to like it and then just as i got towards the bottom i was like i don’t think i actually like this anymore so i kind of changed my opinion there not one that i will repurchase but it might work for you everyone’s hair is different you never know okay let’s do a skincare product next we have a lot of hair in here actually and talk about a moisturizer so this is the hot a lava moisturizing cream i don’t know how to pronounce this you guys i’m so sorry i don’t want to offend anyone either so i’m not going to i will have everything linked in my description box below it’s this moisturizer from them and i do like the formulation of this it’s nice i feel like there’s nothing super distinct to say about it it’s probably in the middle as far as thickness goes so it’s not super thick and heavy or waxy it’s not the lightest white moisturizing cream i’ve ever used it’s just a really good one that i feel like would be suitable for a lot of different skin types like normal leaning slightly oily or leaning slightly dry i feel like you would really enjoy this i still think dry skin types would love this probably not for you if you have super oily skin but i think the formula is really nice if i remember correctly this did have a comedogenic ingredient in it towards the top of the label i can’t remember exactly which one or where it fell on the label but something like that is just always a little bit concerning to me because i do have acne prone skin if an ingredient like that is in a high concentration so just be aware of that if you’re acne prone if not i think it works well it’s not my favorite moisturizer i’ve ever tried i probably won’t repurchase just because i want to buy other things to test out for you guys and if i’m not obsessed with something i don’t feel like i need to buy it again so i actually repurposed this and started to use it as a body moisturizer because i was like uh i’d rather use other things on my face i just don’t really have a need but something like this i really like to use on my neck at night nice thick moisturizing cream moment of silence moment of silence shh i’m just kidding so my dermatology tinted moisturizer spf 46 my one beef with dermatology is that the labels rub off it drives me nuts like it’s gone you can’t see anything anymore so when i show you guys product clips it’s like what however aside from that i love everything about this this is an amazing tinted moisturizer slash sunscreen it’s so good the formulation is amazing all dermatology formulations are next level my favorite that’s why i’m such a fan of this brand it’s so hard to find a good tinted moisturizer that is the perfect formulation and tint one that’s not too orangey one that’s not thick and heavy and greasy this is none of those things it’s a really nice tint if you’re looking for a little bit of color to the skin but it’s nothing that’s too intense it’s not too orange it’s lightweight it definitely has a very glowy finish on the skin so if you’re super oily probably not going to be for you it has niacinamide in it you guys know i love niacinamide it’s just it’s such a good sunscreen of course i’m going to continue to have this in my collection at all times because i love it so much so dermatology tinted moisturizer 10 out of 10 love next is actually a nail care item and this is a nail dryer with vitamin e from 10 over 10 and i’ve talked about this before in a previous nail care video and i really liked it however did i talk about this now i can’t remember if i did i’ll link it below i liked it i felt like it helped to speed up the drying process but i’m not going to repurchase it because i’ve started to purchase nail polishes from brands that have really fast drying formulation so one of those is static nails i uploaded a swatch and review on that brand recently with so many different nail polishes from them i love nail swatch videos so i’ll link that below as well but i don’t have a need for something like this anymore because my static nails dries down in around five to ten minutes which is the best thing ever so if you want a nail dryer i do think this is a good one it’s not my favorite that i’ve ever tried but it works well and i like the addition of vitamin e and some moisturizing nourishing ingredients because my nails are always in a state of distress but i would still recommend a fast drying nail polish over something like this because why are we waiting three hours for a nail polish to dry in 2020 not an option next is an eye cream from the brand clear this is called their eye cream repair and correct and this is one of my all-time favorite eye creams you guys know i’ve said this before you don’t need an eye cream it’s not necessary in a skincare routine to purchase a separate eye cream product you can absolutely just use your moisturizer however i am a sucker for a really nice luxurious feeling eye cream and this is definitely one of those the formula is just so good it’s not too heavy under the eyes which i just don’t love the feeling of and sometimes products like that get in my eyes actually i feel like they slide around no moisturizing for sure properly seals in that moisture around the eye area but feels so soft and amazing and silky and has incredible ingredients in it they’re teensy peptides glycerin mango seed butter vitamin e coenzyme q10 niacinamide like what’s going on here in an eye cream so definitely not a super affordable eye cream but one that i love nonetheless next is the olaplex number zero intensive bond building hair treatment so this is supposed to prime repair strengthen and protect all hair types i have a dedicated review on this and i owe you guys an update on my opinion about olaplex as a brand with other products as well let me know if you guys still want to see that i can definitely do that and i’ll reiterate my thoughts on that here but i do think this is a really good product i definitely think it helped to strengthen my hair and just continue to protect my hair from heat damage and hard water damage one that i really enjoyed i don’t think there was a massive visual difference in my hair before and after because i was already doing so much to take care of my hair but i definitely noticed a difference in just how soft my hair felt it just felt better you know and that’s worth something so i do think it’s worth it it’s definitely again not the most affordable thing and it’s also not the easiest to use i just don’t love this setup you just like leak it on your hair and it’s hard to distribute when you have a lot of hair but i still think it’s worth it next is a makeup item oh my goodness it’s the morphe continuous setting mist i used to use this religiously i loved this it was the best setting spray i’d ever tried because it really locked in my makeup but it did so in a way that made my makeup look better like it just brought everything together i just loved the finish of this it didn’t feel uncomfortable on my skin oh my gosh formulation and performance in that regard perfection i will not be repurchasing because unfortunately this does have added fragrance does this have other it might have a couple other fragrant extracts as well in this scenario fragrance is the last ingredient on the label so do what you will with that information obviously in this scenario it’s in a lower concentration which hopefully is going to be less concerning for most people but i just don’t use fragrance in my skin care or makeup anymore because it’s something that really irritates my skin it’s definitely something that can be problematic if you have sensitive skin so i will not be repurchasing this i have so many makeup products that i was obsessed with forever before i knew about skincare and the way that i do now that i had to let go of i had to say goodbye next is actually my little trial bottle from curology so this was the original prescription that i got from curology when they do the 30 day free trial i believe is that how that works and they actually sent this to me but this has clindamycin tretinoin and as like acid in it and while it really helped with acne my skin hated that combination i will link my curology review below i definitely had to play around with the formulation and well i didn’t do that obviously i had to tell my germ my skin was not handling this well and she played around with the formulation until we figured out something that my skin could tolerate better so i think curology is great i think they have a lot of unfortunate what’s the word i think the problem with curology is they’ve way overdone it on the sponsorships and it’s led to a lot of consumer distrust unfortunately because it’s like why are you so heavily sponsoring this a lot of the times i feel like if products are good you should just let them speak for themselves and i think that this would be a service that could speak for itself if they hadn’t gone in so full forced on the sponsorship so my review on this brand is unsponsored and for what it’s worth i think it’s a really great service definitely one i would recommend especially if you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to tretinoin because unfortunately if your derm doesn’t prescribe it to you for something like acne it can be really pricey so don’t next is another product that i have not fully used that i’m actually going to give to my sisters or one of my friends and it’s the vanilla nutricare by phase restructuring leave-in conditioner i just didn’t love this i wanted to love it it has some nice ingredients in it it has castor oil panthenol ammo dimethicone which is a great silicone for the hair i don’t know why this formulation just wasn’t my personal cup of tea i don’t know i think it’s just because the other sprays that i’ve used and tried for years i definitely prefer so the pureology color fanatic spray i love that stuff and i definitely prefer that formula to this one so i don’t think this is bad by any means it’s just one that as i was using i found myself wanting to just reach for pureology instead so it’s definitely more i’m pretty sure affordable than curology so if you want an affordable one one to look into but one that i am going to give away and i didn’t want to keep using if i could give away because i’m not obsessed with it cerave pm facial moisturizing lotion am i going to say it i think it’s my all-time favorite daytime moisturizer i think don’t quote me on that i may change my mind later but i love this stuff any product that i talk about that i have a review on i will link below which includes this one it’s so freaking good ingredients are amazing formula is amazing so good for daytime underneath makeup underneath sunscreen plus it has niacinamide we love her i already have a new one i wasn’t gonna go a day without that oh two more moisturizers again another one that fully rubbed off i forgot about these that’s why i just got excited are both from the brand clear and i think that this is a great brand they have formulas that are really nice for sensitive skin but not so basic to the point of being like a vana cream you know but they’re formulated without a lot of those irritating ingredients no fragrances no essential oils that’s where that eye cream was from that we talked about before and their moisturizers are nice as well so their day cream was not my favorite after i fully used it up the consistency is just a little lumpy and it was always like that so it’s not like the product went bad it just there was something kind of strange about the formulation didn’t love that so i’m not going to be one that i keep in my collection the night cream on the other hand i think has a really really nice formula the second ingredient after water is shea butter so it’s a very rich occlusive nourishing night cream feels super super good it actually really reminds me of the cerave skin renewing night cream really similar in formula just super soft and smooth i like it it’s definitely one to check out if you have super sensitive skin a skin that’s easily irritated maybe if you can’t use cerave if that burns your skin because i know that’s the thing for some people this is definitely one to look into oh man i know this is one people love so much it’s the ordinary ten percent niacinamide with one percent zinc serum it’s good this is a great product i think the ingredients that you get for the price point and the formulation all make it a really really nice product if you have oily acne prone skin is it my favorite niacinamide serum on the market no the dermatology needless serum is my personal favorite because it has other ingredients in it that i really love as well so that is something that just has more going on to it which makes sense because it’s at a higher price point so if you have oily acne prone skin and you want something affordable that you can include in your routine to help to speed up that process at which your acne heals and clears this is definitely worth looking into i have already repurchased because i want to be able to talk about this in videos with you guys and i have some videos planned that i want to include it in because i think it’s a great product so if it wasn’t for youtube i don’t know that i would repurchase it i think i would just rely on other things but it’s really great it’s worth the hype next is the color science unforgettable sunscreen so this is their sun forgettable total protection face shield it’s a broad spectrum spf 50.
this has amazing ingredients if you have sensitive skin oh this is so good it’s a mineral based sunscreen only no chemical filters dang it has some really nice soothing ingredients moisturizing ingredients i don’t remember what every single ingredient was because i review so many products for you guys but i remember being impressed when i reviewed this for you in my color science review so i do love this sunscreen this i think was the very first mineral sunscreen that i ever tried and i loved it it feels so nice on the skin but when i think about it now the first time that i tried it was in the depths of the winter and when i say deaths i mean it because i live in minnesota so it is frigid here in the winter so dry so cold so something like this underneath makeup was my favorite thing ever it was a dream because it’s so moisturizing and i was always wearing it under makeup because at the time we were going into the office i wore makeup to the office so that’s why i loved it so much on its own and in the summer time it’s not my favorite sunscreen because it’s so moisturizing it’s just not my favorite to reapply throughout the day because it definitely starts to feel a little bit too heavy for me and my skin that leans oily if you’re super dry you’re gonna love this so much otherwise i think the way that i described it i still love it that way but not so much in the summer anymore i think just because i’ve tried so many sunscreens to review for you guys i’ve experienced a lot in the sunscreen department i’ve tested out i feel like a million formulations at this point and i definitely have a type and my favorite type now is something that’s lighter weight and dries down a little bit less shiny than this one so it’s an amazing sunscreen don’t get me wrong it’s still i feel like falls into one of my all-time favorites just because it’s so good but it’s not my favorite finish in hot weather okay next is another eye cream it’s the first zero g smoothing eye cream with algae extract and peptides i have talked to you guys about this before and i love this stuff it’s one of my favorite eye creams it actually has oh i’m spacing on the exact ingredients but i believe it has mica and titanium dioxide maybe one other thing which creates a really pretty kind of pearlescent finish that helps to brighten the under eye area so if you suffer from dark under eye circles this one is pretty good it doesn’t really have anything else in it specifically to help with under eye circles but just kind of that cosmetic topical effect definitely helps and the formula of this is so nice as well it’s definitely lighter weight than that clear eye cream that we talked about it’s kind of whipped and moussey and i love it it still feels very moisturizing but especially if you want something a bit lighter weight underneath makeup oh this is good it’s not so lightweight to the point of being like a gel but another serum from the ordinary is their buffet serum so this says it’s a multi-technology peptide serum and i was using this as a while just for my nighttime serum before tretinoin and moisturizer and i really did like it but i just think now that i’ve tried so many other serums i’m on to other things this is also another one that i have repurchased for the sake of videos for you guys to have something to show you but it’s just not something that i will continue to use on a daily or weekly basis i just have other things that are more potent and more effective i think if you’re younger maybe in your late teens or early 20s and you don’t have a need for intensive anti-aging products quite yet but you want a nice serum that’s affordable this is a really great one because it has good ingredients the formulation feels nice and the price point is just right next is a makeup remover from cetaphil it’s their gentle oil-free makeup remover for sensitive skin and this has aloe vera ginseng and green tea in it and this really impressed me the ingredient label is great some cetaphil products i’m not super impressed with but this one is really good my boyfriend’s calling me one second please okay so love the ingredient label here and the formulation took some getting used to at first i was like no it says it has a non-greasy residue no it says it has a non-oily residue and it felt a little oily to me and i think it’s just because i was so used to using micellar water the garnier sensitive skin micellar water to be exact that just feels like water so i was not used to oilier residues and when i started using this i was like oh this feels greasy as i continue to use it i did start to enjoy it more and that residue didn’t bother me as much but if you are used to my salary waters and you don’t want that oiliness this won’t be a product for you however it’s also not i’ve tried greasy makeup removers before i’m just thinking about other ones that i’ve tried it’s not like that i would say it’s a good in between and it does effectively remove makeup i still don’t feel like it’s quite as good as my micellar water but it still works well and i like to pair it with a microfiber towel and warm water which you guys know at this point and i think that’s a really great way to get makeup off next is another dry shampoo that i also have not fully used up and it’s the kristen s dry shampoo powder so this is part of her fragrance free line and i wanted to test out some of those products i just i tried to use this a few times and i just can’t get myself to want to reach for it and it’s all just because of the way that you get this product on your scalp so it has this pump you’re supposed to push that to disperse it onto your roots and i just feel like it’s a little bit difficult to use because it would not spray because it’s not a spray but it would all land kind of in one area and then it was hard for me to disperse that evenly over my roots so that the oil absorbed evenly my goodness so i wish this had a different method of application even if it was a sifter like baby powder you know like that like a spice shaker or something i feel like i would love that that would be a lot easier to use but just in this way not my favorite and for that reason i will be giving it away my dermatology advanced ce ferulic serum i have completely used this bottle this is such a good vitamin c serum but it has 15 ascorbic acid some really nice hydrators plus the addition of vitamin e and ferulic acid which not only helped to stabilize that ascorbic acid but also helped to provide further photo protection the formulation of this no surprise is also amazing this is perfect for those of you that don’t want a really serumy vitamin c serum if that makes sense it’s so lightweight pretty much just feels like water and works perfectly underneath the rest of your skincare products and makeup i love this stuff i feel like once i started to use this in my skincare routine my glowiness was just taken to the next level love it highly recommend oh i don’t know if i said this for the sunscreen but i have a 20 off code with dermatology it’s abby 20 abby with an e a b b e y not e b b y okay if you want 20 off of their entire site that will do that for you another makeup item i feel like i had a lot of mascaras in my last empties video but here we are with another one it’s the maybelline the falsies lash lift mascara and this looked to me just kind of like the maybelline copycat version of the better than sex well yeah that too faced better than sex mascara but also that was weird because i was thinking the l’oreal voluminous paradise mascara which is the better than sex drugstore version but i said better okay okay that’s what i was thinking this is definitely kind of the maybelline version of the l’oreal voluminous lash paradise mascara which i love this one fell a little bit flat for me i just feel like the formula is not quite there it’s a little bit too dry and when i use a mascara that has a wand like this i really wanted to fluff up my lashes and add volume because i always always first go in with my maybelline lash sensational mascara i love that mascara and this just doesn’t work the best with that so it was fine didn’t hate it but won’t repurchase okay next is the cerave skin renewing retinol serum and this one i’ve really really enjoyed specifically as a neck retinol and around the eye retinol so i’ve been using this as my nighttime eye cream and part of my neck care routine at night for a while now and i love it the formula is really nice it feels very moisturizing but it’s not super thick so i always actually put a thicker moisturizing cream around my eyes and on my neck as well but i really liked it for that the downside of course is that cerave doesn’t disclose the concentration of retinol in this so i have actually no idea what this is doing for me in the anti-aging department i really wish they would disclose that so for that reason i think i’m going to rely on other things in the future just so i know what i’m putting on my skin like if this ended up having negative 2 retinol i would be really upset obviously it’s not negative but that is the one thing that’s really frustrating about this otherwise i do really enjoy it and for an eye and neck cream amazing you can use it on the backs of your hands you can of course put this all over your entire face but i use tread no one for that okay obviously this is not an empty this can’t turn empty this oh my gosh are you guys like what are you doing with that is the clarisonic mia brush and i wanted to include it in this video because i found it in the moving process i realized i have been bringing this with me as i have moved from apartment to apartment over the last several years even though i haven’t used it in years like i think the last time i used this was three years ago or longer i don’t use physical exfoliants of any kind anymore i just personally think that they are too irritating too abrasive and too disruptive to the skin barrier i want to be as gentle with my skin as possible and i much was gonna say much rather no i would rather use a chemical exfoliant because not only is that going to be less abrasive and rough on my skin but it’s also going to provide me with superior benefits and the anti-aging texture and skin brightness department so i don’t even think yeah i mean i think this thing is shot anyway i won’t ever buy a cleansing brush like this again next is aquaphor actually and i talked about this recently in my skin slugging video and i couldn’t find this i was like i swear it’s in my apartment somewhere i found it and i told you guys in that video that i had a very bad reaction in using aquaphor foreskin slugging to try to heal my skin barrier it did not agree with me my hunch as to why that happened is because it has an ingredient called lanolin alcohol in it which definitely can be irritating for certain skin types i don’t know that for sure though so that’s why i didn’t want to say that in that video because i didn’t want anyone to freak out it’s not like that’s an ingredient that needs to be avoided at all costs but it may cause a reaction if you use it so just be careful especially with a formulation like this where it’s very occlusive and it’s really lacking in anything that you have underneath it that can make any irritating ingredients worse for you so while i think skin slugging is definitely a technique that can benefit a lot of people it’s not for everyone and certain products that you may slug with are not going to be for everyone either and this is one of them for me i had to just pause this and see if i talked about this in my last empties video because i couldn’t remember i don’t think that i did if i did i’m sorry for the repetitive product but the it cosmetics confidence in the gel lotion okay this is one of those brands that i was obsessed with before i knew what i know now about skin care and i’ve been considering making an update on it cosmetics and my thoughts on the brand and certain products and if i like them still if i don’t like them because if you’ve been around for a really long time then you may remember that i used to love a lot of their products and not all of them are things that i wouldn’t recommend anymore and this one is one of those it doesn’t have fragrance or essential oils like some of their other products do the formulation is so good like this was my favorite thing to use in the morning underneath makeup because it acted as such a good makeup primer that also moisturizes my skin oh my gosh so formula still obsessed with but i mean there are just some fundamental problems with it cosmetic products that i didn’t know about before before i started to research skincare in the way that i do now so there’s nothing that concerns me on this ingredient label so for that reason alone plus a formulation i think it still is a great product but for the price point in the way that it’s marketed for what you’re getting not as much so if you guys want me to do an updated review on it cosmetics and the products that i would recommend versus not recommend things that i would stay away from that i used to religiously use let me know i can definitely do that i’ve been thinking about it i just didn’t know if you guys would be interested but if you guys have been around since day one then you you know i was obsessed with this dang that formula is good all right you guys we have made it to the end of this video thank you so much for sticking
