Dr. Sugai Reviews: DRMTLGY SPF 46 Anti-Aging Tinted Moisturizer- is the PRICE too GOOD to be TRUE?

hey everyone this is dr daniel sugai board certified dermatologist today i want to talk about a nice product called dermatology’s spf 46 tinted moisturizer it is anti-aging oil-free broad spectrum over spf 30.

very popular um product and i know one of you my viewers were actually checking in asking hey dr sugai is that video coming out soon so thank you for your interest thanks for checking in i wanted to give this a good uh several weeks of use to give you a um a nice unbiased review i bought this with my own money on amazon for twenty dollars and it came to me not in any fancy box but when i um took off the bubble wrap my gosh this is a very beautiful bottle it’s a pump and it’s very nice stainless steel look clear cap here you see you can get some of the tinted sunscreen smudges inside of it i should do a comparison review of the tinted dermatology spf 46 against um l2md uv clears tinted sunscreen to see if there’s any difference between the two in a dr sugai compares so stay tuned for that my favorite sunscreens elta md uv clear which i scored very highly before this is known to be the elta md uv clear dupe and is it true is this product a worthy adversary to l to md even though i sell ltmd in my office i’m not conflicted in any way because i want to give unbiased information on this channel if i am sponsored i want to let you all know i’m not sponsored by dermatology ltmd it’s 1.

7 ounces which is pretty standard against you know super groups and la roche posay i believe la roche posay and the leos 50 is 1.7 fluid ounces yes and it is it is truly 1.7 fluid ounces and the price is much less so this is about 36 dollars this one is about 20 21 22 i bought this one on amazon so very affordable and i’m going to talk to you about its benefits and i’ll even show it to you on the back of my hand it’s spf 46 which is great big plus there you want your sunscreen to have more than spf 30.

for those using spf 15 i do caution that you know a lot of times we underestimate how much we put on um so if you put an spf 15 on and you underestimate it you put too little it could be an spf 8 on your skin which is scary so we do recommend a half a teaspoon amount for of sunscreen for your face and neck don’t forget your eyelids your ears of course your neck as well dermatology this is it says medical grade skin care anti-aging oil free it’s broad spectrum which is great you want to cover uva and uvb rays zinc oxide is the main ingredient with some octanoxate which is a similar ingredient list to uv clear elta md uv clear has the same ingredients zinc oxide i had this discussion with another viewer on a previous video zinc oxide does cover uva uvb just like titanium dioxide but zinc oxide actually is superior in terms of uva coverage uva can be broken down into uva 1 and uva2 uva 1 being a longer wavelength uva2 being more towards the uvb spectrum uva 1 is not covered well by titanium dioxide uva is used by tanning beds the tanning salons use that to help you tan but it does add to other things like aging wrinkles sunspots all those things that you don’t want uva you would definitely want to have covered uvb is uv burn causes is a uv bad it can cause skin cancers burns uva we say is uv aging but it also can contribute to your risk of skin cancer so you want to cut you want to cover for both this being tinted uh it has that iron the iron oxide ingredient and you can see it on the back here it has the inactive ingredient list right on the bottle itself so it has iron oxides listed at the very bottom second to last ingredient mentioned and that we talked about in the la roche posay tinted versus non-tinted formulation dr sugai compares video tinted sunscreens do have that iron oxide benefit blocking blue blue light from your screens your devices your cell phone watching me dance on tick tock you’re going to get blue light on your face so wearing tinted sunscreen you could have coverage from the blue light which can add to wrinkles if you have melasma potentially could worsen that worse in dark spots so it is nice to have a tinted sunscreen on hand and i want guys to not feel as bad wearing tinted sunscreen as well i think this is a nice intro to wearing tinted sunscreen because it doesn’t give you a thick tinted look and when you um have dry skin it doesn’t pill or clump like uh la roche posay’s tinted sunscreen can especially if you’re peeling universal tint contains anti-aging ingredients so what does that mean it has some really nice ingredients in it and one of my favorites is you know bingo niacinamide niacinamide being a vitamin b3 anti anti-inflammatory ingredient that helps with redness helps with acne like it for patients with acne prone skin or rosacea rosacea prone skin where this could help bring down inflammation and also prevent acne or even help treat acne at times so i know niacinamide is not for everyone but it is a nice start for those with oily skin also has vitamin e which is an antioxidant it also has moisturizing factors like glycerin hyaluronic acid those are all nice for this time of year starting to get cold we need more moisturizing factors in our sunscreens glycerin and hyaluronic acid are humectants that draw in water and retain it so this is a nice sunscreen for those with dry skin as well so going through the skin types there’s dry skin combo or normal skin which has a little bit of both dry skin on the sides of the face t-zone oily and then there’s oily skin patients with oily skin this i’d say can cover both sides of the spectrum or and in between too because of the moisturizing factors plus the niacinamide so which makes this a pretty dangerous dangerously solid sunscreen which is really cool i mean like come on we got moisturizing factors we got niacinamide which is one of my favorite ingredients and the zinc oxide and octanoxy zinc oxide is a example of a physical blocker or mineral ingredient whereas octanoxate is a chemical ingredient that will be banned in hawaii starting january 2021 as well as oxybenzone so just a heads up on that they’re worried that this ingredient does bleach coral reefs because it has done so in the laboratory setting in the real world setting not sure if it truly does it but hawaii will ban it in terms of how it comes out let’s take a look here let’s see here it’s gorgeous look at that comes out really nice you might think it looks a little shiny but it actually rubs in really well and it’s actually moisturizing i know i talked about in my other video about the la roche posay um enthelios 50 causing a little bit of pilling with dry skin and it gets um the tinted version can get really clumped up so if you’re worried about if you’re a man that you don’t want to be caught wearing a tinted sunscreen which i totally think is fine no judgment i actually wear tinted sunscreen um you know it can be a little bit obvious so it’ll clump up and pill and so wow look at that that’s just gorgeous look how that just rubs on again i bought this with my own money i’m not paid by dermatology at all and i’m just really impressed by the sunscreen so you know if i do a end of the year 2020 my faves this is really impressive you know so i’ve been using this um almost daily and i’ve been really liking it having a iron oxide containing sunscreen that you like that’s moisturizing for the fall winter that we’re getting into now i mean it’s like just the overall just just overall awesome i mean i love it this is great so um do you want to see how it looks on my face okay don’t forget your nose and your ears and your neck doesn’t have a scent really i can imagine people who want a tinted sunscreen to hide blemishes this one isn’t very tinted your skin of color and you want something that blends in a little bit more your tone leaves more of a tinted finish this one might not be for you it is pretty light as you can see it’s not very tinted um it’s not making my skin tone any darker and if i were to have blemishes like i did get cut where i was playing my kids and i got scratched on my face here um you know those things it won’t hide that so you probably will need some foundation over it if you want to hide some blemishes um so just a heads up on that i know we’re wearing our mask so look you know it doesn’t really matter too much for a lot of people um we’re not wearing makeup as much during this time but you just heads up that this does not hide blemishes it does ribbon great has a nice light finish the octanox state is probably added in just to give it that light finish versus straight up zinc would just be really thick and heavy and can give you that white cast this avoids it with some octanoxide in it some of the tint but the tint isn’t very strong so just a heads up on that um but yeah i i hope this shows that it rubs in well on my my skin type so just going through this really quickly i like this product a lot so dr sugai skin score i give it a 4.

5 shaka’s out of 5. there’s up there with you alto md uv clear i do i will start recommending this to my patients especially for those with acne or even dry skin because it has the humectant ingredients in it but if your goal is to hide blemishes uh you’d probably want something a little thicker like super groups you know matte screen might be a little better hiding blemishes it’s not a true bb cream or bb blemish bomb it’s uh it’s it’s more of just a straight-up sunscreen but if you’re okay without with something that just rubs in well this is for you i did not get a few points becau or half a point because of the octanoxane in it for those of you who want to be chemical free just want to be straight up physical blocking or zinc or titanium ingredients then this is this has octane oxide in it it also does have and if you also want more of a tinted uh look then that this doesn’t isn’t very tinted to it blends in it kind of fades away but the nice thing about it is that when i wear a mask the inside of my mask doesn’t get stained like la roche posay’s and the leo’s 50 tinted sunscreen that would you know really get my mask all tinted or the residue would uh imprint on the inside of the mask this one really doesn’t so i did do a test and i let it dry and wore them wore my mask over it didn’t leave any didn’t leave any tint on it and then also i tried even putting sunscreen on my face and then applying the mask right over while still wet and it actually didn’t show much on this medical grade mask so pretty cool and you know drop some comments down below if you like this sunscreen or if you have reservations or if you don’t like it you’ve tried it you’re disappointed by it but i also have the link down to the amazon to amazon as well where you can purchase this sunscreen if you’re interested i will compare this to elta md’s uv clear tinted sunscreen and see if texture wise they are similar or they’re different i’ll let you know in the future video please follow me on instagram and tick tock do having a lot of fun there if you want to see me get silly and dance and add some more quick fire skin tips check me out there as well alright so take care and be well peace you
