DIY Anti-Aging Face Cream (How To Make Face Cream)

hi everybody welcome back to sunshine soap and candle company today I’m gonna be sharing with you how I make my beauty sleep night cream now this night cream is packed with all kinds of beautiful anti-aging products like sea buckthorn extract and carrot extract and calendula infused oils just to name a few so I’m really excited to be sharing it with you today over the last year or so I’ve been getting lots of requests to share this recipe so I will be sharing this recipe on my patreon campaign so if you’re interested in that you can head on over there alright let’s get started so before you make any type of cosmetic or lotion your environment needs to be completely sterilized including all the equipment that you’re going to be using to make your product and the bottles and jars that you might be storing your product in so you can do that one of two ways you can make a 5 percent bleach water solution and you can wipe your entire environment down or you can wipe and scrub everything down with 99% rubbing alcohol and I’ve gone ahead and I put my hair back and I’m wearing gloves everything is super clean and we’re ready to go ok so the first thing we’re going to be doing is weighing out the distilled water [Music] [Music] all right now I’m gonna be weighing out the ingredients for my heated face so my heated face is going to include the distilled water and then we’re going to be putting in the oils and butters stearic acid emulsifying wax and such in this bigger container so the first thing we’re going to do for this container is we’re going to be adding in our shea butter okay and then the next thing we’re gonna do is add in our mango butter I’ve already pre-measured out me a mango butter because I get mad mango butter in bulk so it was a huge container so I’m gonna go ahead and add this in perfect and mango butter and shea butter are great oils or butters I should say for anti-aging they’re full of antioxidants vitamins they’re very moisturizing they are healing and so they promote skin rejuvenation and anti-aging so we are using those two ingredients specifically for their anti-aging properties the next thing we’re gonna do is add in the infused sweet almond oil you can use olive oil if you’d like that was when I very first started to make this several years ago I was using calendula infused olive oil now I use calendula infused sweet almond oil because I really like the emollient properties that sweet almond oil has and I also really like it’s a little bit lighter weight than olive oils so if you like a heavier type of feel you could certainly use olive oil but I like the absorption rate of the sweet almond oil and this is infused so basically this oil was warmed up with a bunch of calendula in it and then what you do is you just take the calendula out there’s lots of videos and things you can take a look at to show you how to infuse your oil I did infuse this oil myself and when I put the written tutorial up on my patreon page I’ll make sure to include instructions on how to infuse your sweet almond oil okay so we’re just going to go ahead and add in our infused sweet almond oil and the reason I have infused this with calendula that’s just marigold dried miracle petals it’s absolutely a gorgeous thing to add to your lotions and creams it’s anti-inflammatory that’s the biggest thing that you get from calendula petals is their anti-inflammatory and they’re calming and they are they help the skin not to be irritated and red so if you’re someone that deals with redness on your skin using calendula is a really good thing to have so that’s why I’ve chosen that all right so that’s gonna be the end oh actually sorry I need to go ahead and add in my stearic acid and my e wax to the mix so into this container we’re also going to be adding in some stearic acid okay now we are going to go ahead and heat up all of these ingredients and we’re also going to be heating up our water you can do this over a double boiler and today in this case that’s what I’ll be doing I’ll be heating it up over a double boiler and that’s probably the safest way so you’re not burning all your beautiful butters or scorching them to make a beautiful face product you certainly want wouldn’t want any scorched butters or oils so we’re gonna go ahead and heat this up over a double boiler and then I’ll bring you right back after everything’s melted down and I’ll show you what goes into the cooldown phase okay so my oils butters and steer cassadee wax and water is all warmed up and into sending it over to the side while we get our cool down ingredients ready to go so the first thing I’m going to add to this little glass beaker is cyclomethicone now cyclomethicone is a silicone but the reason why we like to use it in facial products is because it has the molecule on the cyclomethicone is big enough that it’s not actually sinking into your skin rather it sets on top of your skin so it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles because it kind of fills in those lines so it’s a very interesting ingredient and also it helps with the glide and the skin feel of the night cream [Music] okay then to this we’re going to be adding in some sea buckthorn extract buckthorn extract also is known for anti-aging properties and directly to this we’re gonna be adding in our carrot extract carrot extract is full of vitamins um it looks like I’m gonna need to get another beaker I thought it would all fit in this little one but I see it is not so we’re gonna get another beaker and we’re gonna put the carrot extract into this one care and extract again is full of just beautiful beta-carotene and vitamins that are good for your skin okay so we are adding this in here okay now to this we’re gonna also be adding in our preservative and in this case I’m using op two fin as the preservative because op de fin works great in oil-based products and then to the OP defend I’m gonna be adding in my essential oils now today I’m using orange essential oil and lavender essential oil actually that’s what I use every time I make the night cream because it’s my recipe so I’m using or a mix of orange and lavender essential oils both great for the facial skin and then I’ll be adding in my lavender okay so I’m just gonna make sure and give these both a good mix you can’t put these all in one container obviously I just ran out of space in this little beaker so we’re just going to give this a good mix and then we’re going to set this off to the side while we make our lotion okay so when you’re making this night cream and any other lotions or creams you want to make sure that you’re always going in water into your oil phase so well let me go ahead and my stick blender ready and then as this is going in I’m just gonna go ahead and stir it with a spatula you’ll see right away it begins to turn away as soon as the water hits this oil phase and that’s the mixture emulsifying and turning into lotion okay so we’re just gonna give that a good stir by hand and then I’m going to come in with my immersion blender and blend it up for a few minutes okay so my mixture has thickened up quite a bit but as you can see it’s still very runny because it’s warm but it’s sitting right around 100 degrees now so we’re okay to go ahead and add in our cool down ingredients and you’re going to notice when I add in the cool down ingredients that the mixture is going to loosen up again quite a bit but not to worry when this gets to room temperature it will be a beautiful thick night cream type consistency so here is the first set of cool down ingredients just pouring those right in and then the second set pulled out ingredients this is a very lightly fragranced cream and the essential agreements that I’ve chosen for this are very good for the face and just has a nice aromatherapy quality to it okay as you can see all of the cool down ingredients have caused this to loosen up quite a bit and the mixture is still warm for a cream so we’re going to go ahead and just let this set up and I’ll bring you back when it’s all set up and ready to put into the little containers alright as you can see it is still quite soupy but it’s cool enough to pour into our containers this is actually a good consistency for pouring if it gets much thicker than this you could put it in a piping bag and just pipe it into your containers I’m just gonna pour it into a Pyrex container here and start pouring these are little 2 ounce containers that I get from nature’s garden candles they’re perfect for the night cream just the perfect size [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] there you have it but it’s how you make my beauty sleep night cream I’ll bring you back when I’m ready to label these and they’re completely set up so you can see just how thick they get as you can see when I was pouring it in the temperature was cooling rapidly and I got too thick to pour so I just scooped it into the little containers but as it sets up overnight it gets to become a very beautiful thinking creamy texture that I’ll show you when I’m ready to go ahead and put a label on these be right back okay everybody so it’s the next day and I went ahead and capped and labeled these little night creams and here I call it beauty sleep night cream I go ahead and I put the name of the product on the front and I put the directions and the ingredients on the back and then I put my branding on the top so for me for this little jar it takes three stickers so I have a sticker on the front back not the top I have a little bit left over from that batch so I wanted to show you the consistency of it and how it does glide so nicely into the skin so this is what it looks like all set up just very thick and creamy you notice it can’t just drop right out of the container and then it’s got like a little bounce to it that’s kind of hard to explain but it’s a little bit bouncy to the touch so when you put your finger in there you can kind of it’s just thick and creamy so I’m gonna take a little bit here and show you how nicely it glides into the skin doesn’t take a lot I have I designed it for under eyes for anti-aging and under eyes several years ago when I developed the product but a lot of my clients just say that they use it all over their face and their chest and neck and so I started doing that at nighttime too and it’s just really nice see how it just glides right in there’s no like soapy residue you know how some creams or lotions will leave that white like soapy residue no this just glides right in perfectly and it leaves your skin feeling really super soft and moisturized so there you have it that’s making of my beauty sleep night cream I hope you enjoyed this video if you did
