ANTI AGING PM SKIN CARE ROUTINE DEMONSTRATED
hi Tamra here welcome to my channel you
know last weekend I posted a super-fun
collaboration with two other ladies here
on YouTube Claudia from the channel
happily healthful and jannu has the
channel Jennifer Joyce beauty and we did
a three-part collaboration all about how
to get healthy glowing skin my part of
the collaboration was serums topicals
nutrients to feed your skin from the
outside in I covered everything from
vitamin A to A to Z I discussed five
different serums and it was a super fun
collaboration and I am gonna link it
down below because if you missed it I
would think you would really enjoying
seeing all three of those videos I got a
lot of questions based on that video
especially how do you incorporate these
serums and topicals and nutrients into
your skincare routine what do you do in
the morning what do you do in the
evening what do you put on first so I
thought now it’s time to do my skincare
routine I’m excited for today’s video
this is part two of a two-part series on
my AM and PM skincare if this sounds
interesting to you I post once a week on
Sunday and I cover tons of different
skincare lots of makeup health wellness
nutrition so if this sounds interesting
to you I would love it if you would
subscribe and join my youtube community
here ok let’s get right to my evening
skincare routine now the am skincare
routine is all about protecting your
skin protecting your skin from the
environment from the Sun and the evening
skincare routine is about taking the day
off
obviously cleansing but also about
restorative so the serums that I’m going
to be using tonight this evening are
really restorative type serums ok let’s
jump right into the cleanse I got to put
my hair back I do have a full face of
makeup on
I also have my pajamas on even though
it’s not quite dark yet okay p.m.
skincare routine the most important
thing in the evening or one of the most
important things is to cleanse and get
the day off
you know makeup sunscreen foundation
it’s all very tenacious and it
absolutely has to be removed as
completely as possible I don’t think a
day has gone by in my adult life that I
have gone to sleep with my makeup on it
is something I cleanse my face
religiously every night and I cleanse it
thoroughly as you will see I do a two
step cleanse and I will either use the
Physicians Formula matcha green tea
cleanser which I love this is a bomb it
is a solid bomb my other favorite
cleanser is the hada labo cleansing oil
they’re both very reasonably priced and
one of the reasons I like both of them
very much is not only are they effective
but they’re very gentle they do not
irritate my eyes my eyes do tend to get
very irritated so the bomb is really
good for travel but today I’m going to
use my hot a la belle cleansing oil to
one just about one pump it’s a it’s an
oil and I’m just going to apply it
liberally all over my face including my
eyes like I said it does not sting my
eyes down the neck under the eyes on top
of the eyes working to soften up that
mascara
[Music]
now that it’s applied add a little bit
of water and what the water does is it
emulsifies the oil you can sort of see
how it’s turning white that is the water
emulsifying the oil and the makeup
removing action actually takes place
with the emulsification so don’t just
apply the oil and wipe it off you really
need to work it in with some water to
emulsify it and really remove the makeup
yep I look like a raccoon okay normally
I will rinse this at the sink in the
bathroom but my bathroom is not
conducive to videoing so I’m at my usual
video location this is my ah what is
this makeup eraser microfiber cleansing
cloth and I will use this to rinse off
that cleansing oil
I think you can see look at all that
makeup it’s pretty pretty gross right
the claim would these makeup eraser
microfiber cleansing claws is that they
will remove makeup with just water which
I do believe but I am a super cleansing
I don’t want to say nut but I just
really want to get in there with my
double cleanse and really make sure I
get every single scrap of makeup and
sunscreen off
okay so that’s the first cleanse you
know normally I would rinse that at the
sink and it’s surprising how the oil
just rinses off and it does not leave an
oily residue on your skin but I do go in
with the second cleanse and this is my
favorite cream cleanser this is the mad
hippy cream cleanser I also use this in
the morning but I really love this
cleanser because it’s super gentle does
not leave your skin feeling tight or dry
very hydrating it does not sting my eyes
and I really love it it is not very
expensive but one thing I will say about
cleansers you do not need to spend a ton
of money on cleansers the main purpose
of the cleanser whether it’s an oil
cleanser or a cream cleanser is to
cleanse remove whatever is on your skin
and you know some cleansers are super
expensive and they tout all these fancy
ingredients but if you think about it
the cleanser is not on your skin very
long so no matter what the fancy
ingredients in the cleanser you’re
probably not getting maximum benefit out
of those ingredients just by virtue of
the fact that you’re rinsing the
cleanser off fairly quickly I go in with
about a pump and a half of my mad hippy
cream cleanser and just work that into
the skin there are some really nice
ingredients in this cream cleanser it’s
got argan oil it’s got jojoba oil it’s
got green tea green tea extract
macadamia oil so I do enjoy that
cleanser and I would like to leave it on
my skin for a minute or two just to get
the maximal benefit so what I will do
oftentimes
usually in the morning I do a pretty
good one or two minute facial massage to
get the circulation going but I will
also do a bit of a facial massage in the
evening to in the interest of time right
now I will not be doing a facial massage
so I’m gonna take another microfiber
cleansing cloth this is the makeup brace
makeup eraser again and I’m just going
to remove that cleansing cream
this microfiber cleansing cloth is super
soft but it does provide just a little
bit of mechanical exfoliation to help
sort of snuck away any dry skin that
might be sitting on the surface of the
skin okay okay
that is cleanse my skin is very clean
all the makeup is off and we are gonna
proceed to the next step the Big Daddy
of skin care the Big Daddy of anti-aging
retina threatenin I have a whole video
on retin-a and in my video that I posted
last weekend how to get healthy glowing
skin I also talked quite a bit about the
difference on the vitamin A derivatives
retinol retinol dehyde threat to no one
so I’m not going to go into that and too
much detail now I will link both those
videos below but I do use retin-a I have
used it for over 15 years I think
probably closer to 18 this is the gold
standard of anti-aging builds collagen
supports a lasts and it helps reduce
pigment it’s fabulous I love it I
wouldn’t be without it okay so with
retin-a if you are again I don’t want
this to be all about how to retin-a but
if you are new to retin-a you you can go
in with a moisturizer first and then
apply the retin-a but because I have
been using retin-a for so many years I
just go right in after my cleanse I go
in with about a pea-sized amount put it
between my fingers
I apply it neck jowls upper lip forehead
crow’s feet a little bit on the eyebrows
you are supposed to avoid the eye area a
little bit on the lower lid but not too
close to the eye and that is all worked
in personally I cannot apply retin-a in
the corners of my mouth or on my chin
so you’ll notice I avoided that area but
I can tolerate it everywhere else and I
do go down my neck many people can’t
tolerate on their neck retin-a super
easy there are some side effects again I
don’t want to go into this in too much
detail I will link my retin-a video as
well as my video on the ABCs of topical
nutrients for the skin but retin-a that
helps your skin restore at night it is
to be used at night not during the day
use vitamin C during the day retina at
night okay normally I would sort of let
the retina sit on my skin 5 10 15
minutes if I don’t have time to let it
sit there I go right in with my next
step but most of the time I do let it
sit there for a little while and my next
step is a new product that is new to my
skincare routine in the past month this
is deer deer skin Tran acts and I heard
about this from penny who has the
channel pen Smith skincare she is she
has a fabulous channel she does some
amazing skincare videos she is a master
master esthetician in Portland Oregon
anyway she was talking about this in
terms of reducing pigmentation I don’t
know I’m gonna get a little closer and
I’m gonna get a little closer and see if
you can see I have been developing
some brown spots some hyperpigmentation
which sort of bums me out because I have
been using sunscreen for 20 years and
retin-a for close to 20 years but you
know I’m 60 so for the first 20 30 35
years we didn’t have sunscreen back then
so you know the early sun exposure that
I collected as a younger person is now
coming out is as brown spots so this is
Tran acts the active ingredients in here
are tranexamic acid 5% and that is to be
a powerful melanin edy inhibitor and so
it should help reduce pigment lots of
other really great ingredients in here
including kojic acid 5% also a powerful
melanin inhibitor niacinamide 5%
niacinamide is a really great skin care
active ingredient that can help boost
hydration regulate your help build
ceramide so it boosts hydration it
regulates your oil it can make the pores
appear smaller it has a lot of really
wonderful benefits as well as there is a
little glycolic acid in here it doesn’t
say how much and also a couple of
humectants such as glycerin and high
rolana Cassatt so I’m super excited I’ve
been using this about a month I’m going
to reserve judgment until I’ve used it
about 3 months but the reason I have
added this into my skincare routine and
I just take a couple of drops it’s got
this interesting little dropper thing
and the reason I added it into my
skincare routine is to fight the
pigmentation that’s starting to pop out
on my 60 year old skin okay rub that
between my hands and I just put that
everywhere it’s very gentle it’s very
hydrating
I do use that AM and PM currently like I
said it’s new to my skincare routine
okay we have double cleansed we’ve
applied retin-a I’ve applied my deerskin
Tran acts to treat hyperpigmentation and
then I’m going to go in with one more
serum and then a final moisturize it’s
really a pretty simple skincare routine
this is another favorite serum of mine
this is the timeless coenzyme q10 serum
coenzyme q10 is an antioxidant very
powerful antioxidant it helps build
collagen elastin very moisturizing and
this serum also contains Matrixyl 3000
which is a peptide so I’m getting two
for one in this little in this wonderful
lil serum
I’m almost out of it so the dropper
won’t work but I am going to show you
what it looks like yeah you can see it’s
sort of a I don’t know creamy golden
somewhat viscous serum oh gosh I am out
I’m gonna help I have to order it again
between the hands this goes everywhere
eyelids under eyes it’s very
moisturizing it also has higher ilanic
acid okay okay
we’ve cleansed we’ve Retton aid we’ve
done an anti pigment hyperpigmentation
serum we’ve done a coenzyme q10 and
peptide serum and then I’m just going to
go in with my favorite moisturizer my
CeraVe p.m. moisturizer I do use this
both AM and PM there they also have a
CeraVe a.m. moisturizer and the only
difference between the a.m. and the PM
is the a.m. has a chemical sunscreen in
it which I don’t prefer chemical
sunscreens tend to irritate my eye so I
very much prefer
a physical sunscreen but this CeraVe
p.m. moisturizer is a really great
drugstore priced moisturizer it has
niacinamide which we’ve already talked
about I have in my Tran axe and it has
ceramides and it has high rolana Cassatt
it is this is a cult favorite with many
people it’s highly recommended by
dermatologists very reasonably priced I
love it I use about three or four pumps
and before I instituted the Tran acts I
would sometimes add a drop or two of the
ordinary nice in my ten percent booster
because niacinamide is a super healthy
ingredient for your skin but because I
now have niacinamide in the Tran acts as
well as already in CeraVe I don’t feel
like I need to add that booster anyway a
few drops of my survey PM again
liberally apply face and neck all your
skin care should go down your neck and
actually on your decollete as well but I
have my microphone on I’m not at my sink
and I just like it’s not convenient for
this video to bring it all the way down
okay you can see how fast and easy it is
to do a p.m. skin care again double
cleanse super-important you want to get
all the sunscreen all the makeup all the
grease and grime and pollution off your
skin an oil or a bone follow with a
cream cleansing should not leave your
skin feeling dry or stripped I do have
dry skin so I use very gentle hydrating
cleansers but if you have combo or oily
skin there are cleansers designed for
that skin type as well Ratan a gold
standard of anti-aging
I use the 0.1% which is the strongest I
use this five or six nights a week about
one night a week I also do a mass
and aah a 25% aah a mask and on those
nights I don’t use the retin-a then I
followed it with my deerskin Tran X this
is to treat hyperpigmentation it has a
lot of great antioxidants and
moisturizer ingredients in here coenzyme
q10 mixed with peptides two-in-one serum
lastly my moisturizer now in the winter
when my skin is extra dry I might follow
up with a little of this CeraVe
moisturizing cream to sort of lock
everything in and this is super rich but
now that you know it’s spring and the
heat is not running all the time my skin
is a little bit less dry and it feels
just fine with the CeraVe okay that is
my evening skin care routine you can see
it’s fast and easy and it has been very
effective for me I I love doing my
skincare I enjoy it it is something I
relax into III don’t rush through the
steps I might do you know add a layer
and do something let it soak in I’ll do
a little facial massage it’s something I
enjoy I would love to hear about your
skin care routines some of your favorite
products some of your favorite serums
tips and tricks we can all learn from
each other thank you so very much for
joining me and once again I really hope
you subscribe and I hope to see you on
