AMAZING Drugstore/Affordable Skincare (Fragrance Free) || Bourgie On A Budget
hi guys welcome back to my channel I
hope you’re all doing well today I’m
gonna be talking all about drugstore /
affordable skincare products if you are
new here hello my name is Anna and I
make beauty and lifestyle videos here
you guys really enjoyed my bougie on a
budget video where I was talking about
makeup products that should have that
kind of nice luck see high-end feel but
are a little bit more budget-friendly
and you’re really keen to see a skincare
version as well
obviously right now the world is going
through a very tough time economically
many people are on very reduced incomes
or have lost jobs and I wanted to
provide some options for some really
great skin care products that you can
pick up from your drugstore you
supermarket that can help you to
maintain a really great and effective
skincare routine through this tough time
when you don’t have maybe access to some
of those high-end products you normally
love or perhaps they’re now out of
budget
now the reason I call this video
drugstore / affordable is because there
are a couple of categories where I just
simply do not have recommendations that
I really truly believe in and absolutely
love our products that are actually
available at like your local pharmacies
so I decided to add in a couple of Kay
beauty products as well for those
categories such as toner and sunscreens
because those are the two categories
that I really struggle to find products
that just match my really tough criteria
however the products themselves are
still sort of in their lower in sort of
price range there’s certainly not high
inter pricing point so if waiting for
them to arrive in the post or something
that you are willing to do then these
and great products and I highly highly
highly recommend them so let’s start out
with makeup removers so for me my
favorite way to remove my makeup
regardless high-need drugstore whatever
you’re using the face halos these are by
Chloe Morello you can buy these in
Australia at Priceline but you can also
get them in I’ve seen single packs at
the at the supermarket – you can just
buy a single one at supermarket these
are basically little makeup removing
pads that have to remove your makeup
without any extra product so if you’re
looking for something that’s quite a
sustainable eco-friendly kind of option
then I really recommend these I find
them to be really really soft as well I
know some people say like they’re still
really harsh you’ve got a really rub
harsh but I don’t actually think you
have to rub that hard
the main thing is to
sure that you’ve got it wet enough and
for example with your eye makeup let it
sit on your eye for a little bit for
some reason that kind of loosens
everything up and then it rubs away a
lot easier and like I’ve had this one
for many many months and as you can see
it’s still in like pretty good condition
and I use it all the time I use them in
the shower so just jump straight to
shower with it and like take my makeup
off there and then as soon as I finish
cleaning my face I clean the actual
cloth as well just to keep it nice and
white otherwise they do have the pro
version which are black I think I might
try and get those next time however if
you ask someone that’s like no no I must
use like some kind of proper makeup
removing cleanser and I do have two that
I’d recommend the first is by your good
skin this is a great product if you’re
in the UK I actually picked this up
while is in the UK last July this is the
nourishing hot cloth cleanser it’s for
all skin types it’s fragrance free
basically like a creamy kind of lotion
that you massage into your skin onto
your eyes and everything comes with a
little muslin cloth that you run under
hot water and get it nice and warm and
then you use that to like wipe away the
makeup and there is something about the
combination of the cream itself and the
hot cloth they just your makeup just
melts away so nicely it’s a very good
option if you have a bit more of a drier
skin type you want something that is
really nice and gentle and soothing and
not like stripping of the skin I really
really love this I’m about halfway
through the bottle as I say most of the
time I use my face halos but if I decide
to not have a shower in the evening
maybe ahead one in the morning then
often I will just use this at my sink
and before I go to bed if you are more
into a cleansing oil rather than a
creamy cleanser then I would suggest
picking up the simple kind of skin
hydrating cleansing oil it’s a lot of
base cleansing oils in the drugstore and
it’s also available very commonly in
like supermarkets so it’s very very very
very accessible and it contains no
fragrance or colors as well so it’s
really great for sensitive skin be aware
that a clean the oil is quite a special
kind of formulation you have to apply
them onto dry skin so you apply it
straight on to your makeup without
wetting your face just like the hot
cloth cleanser as well and you really
massage it into the makeup it will
literally start to break the makeup down
as soon as you do that right over the
eyes and everything but then when you
wet it to wash it away and emulsifiers
into a milk
that’s when the product washes away as
well as taking the makeup with it
cleansing oils are again a beautiful
option if you have more of a drier skin
type that can get a little bit irritated
using other kind of cleansers so then
moving on to your second cleanse I would
always recommend if you do wear makeup
double cleans your skin because the
first cleanse is really about just
getting rid of the makeup and then the
second step is about actually cleaning
your skin without the makeup on there
just really ensures that you’re getting
all the makeup off your skin and you’re
giving your skin a really good deep
cleanse before moving on to the other
steps now I know that some people with
drier more sensitive skin can worry that
double cleansing is gonna strip your
skin but if you’re using something like
an oil or some kind of non foaming kind
of first step in your makeup removal or
even something like a micellar water
would work great the Garnier micellar
water you can buy that at the drugstore
or the supermarket that’s just gonna get
the makeup off without irritating your
skin and then you can go in with a
cleanser picking which cleaners that you
use can also make a big difference of
course as well so I would say the number
one recommendation I would want to give
for a cleanser to pick up would be the
CeraVe hydrating cleanser it’s fragrance
free it’s full of really beautiful
hydrating ingredients it’s non foaming
works for all skin types even oily skin
I actually have a normal to oily skin
type and what’s really nice thing on me
too and I know for a fact it works
really well for dry skin types too the
great news is they do sell this at
chemists warehouse now so definitely
check out your local chemists warehouse
if you’re in Australia this is far
superior to the likes of Cetaphil which
often contains SLS and I just think
survey as a far superior brand but it’s
a very similar looking kind of brand on
the outside the other two cleansed I
want to mention to both by Neutrogena
and also absolutely all of those
formulas but in terms of cost the survey
actually the best cost especially if you
buy the biggest giant bottle cost per
mil is is that absolutely the lowest
with the survey but the other to clean
this I will mention in case you’re in a
country that doesn’t have the survey
because Neutrogena is probably even more
available around the world the
Neutrogena hide reverse jelly milk that
one is a beautiful formula very very
very similar to the survey which in the
u.s. is called the gentle cleansing
lotion from the hydraboost line also
their traditional hydrating kind of
in the white bottle the extra gentle
cleanser that one is really nice as well
maybe not quite as hydrating as the
hydraboost or the sea reveille but it
does just a really nice job of just
cleansing your skin it’s very non
irritating so yeah those are three
cleanses I’d really recommend if you are
after a foaming cleanser if that’s
actually just more your preference
patient you’ve got really really skin
and you find that you just need the
foaming action I’d highly highly highly
recommend getting something that doesn’t
have SLS in it and the best one that
I’ve found for the cheapest price at
like the drugstore or the supermarket is
the simple cleanser the simple foaming
cleanser is a really great affordable
foaming cleanser if there is more your
preference it is fragrance free and it
doesn’t have SLS in it so it doesn’t
strip the skin of its essential like
lipid barrier and it’s super affordable
and very accessible around the world so
and highly recommend the foaming
cleanser as well and if you’re in
Australia another line to look at is the
QV line again it’s in a similar area to
like survey Sidda fill and your
drugstore and that line is really nice
too because it is fragrance free and
I’ve got a couple of really great
options there exfoliating polish which
I’ve recently finished up that product
is really nice if you would like there’s
a cool scrub for your skin it’s very
very gentle I’d only use it about twice
a week but you’re someone that prefers
more of a physical exfoliation but then
I wanted to talk about toners now to be
honest if I was on a bit of a budget and
I was trying to cut back on my like
beauty routine I’d probably just cut
turnout it is a step that I really enjoy
and I do notice the difference a lot of
a difference with the specific product
I’m going to recommend but in general I
definitely know I could skip it if I had
to the most important thing in a
skincare routine at a basic level is a
good cleanser that will remove your
makeup you can even just use the same
one twice ultimately if you wanted to
double cleanse and nice moisturizer that
helps to rehydrate the skin and then a
good SPF those are like your absolute
like staples of a good skincare routine
everything else is extra but if you are
someone that loves to use toner like I
do highly recommend ordering this one
from yes style there is not a single
toner available in the australian drug
stores or supermarkets that i’ve found
that meets my criteria of being alcohol
free fragrance free essential oil free
even the simple toner that i used to
recommend because i thought it kind of
fitted all that they actually contains
which
hazel extract which I didn’t realize
which is which can be quite irritating
for skin yes I just I somehow had missed
seeing that on the packaging and didn’t
realize that contained which hazel
extract so I wouldn’t really recommend
the simple one for a toner you’re better
off just not using a toner but if you
feel like making a gift style order I
would highly highly highly highly
recommend the Suen Jeung ph 5.5 relief
toner there is something about this that
is just so nice it helps to balance your
skin but it does need hydration so I’ve
gone through about four of these bottles
in fact the bottle that I have on order
next is the giant mega bottle because I
like I clearly go through it enough I
need to get like the biggest size they
sell then we’re going to talk about like
treatments active ingredients serums
oils things like that in Australia we’re
extremely lucky to have the ordinary in
stock in our drugstores at Priceline and
so if you’re in Australia then the
ordinary is technically a drugstore
friend but I do know that like overseas
that isn’t always the case
however it’s definitely like a drugstore
priced skincare so I thought it was
worth talking about first product I’d
recommend from them is the hyaluronic
acid 2% + b5 I love the serum I’ve tried
so many different hydrating hyaluronic
acid serums and I keep coming back to
the one from the ordinary I’m already
like halfway through this bottle it’s
about the third bottle of a head of it
so I really really love it and its
really affordable it’s like about $11 at
Priceline
I also recommend their 100% pressed
marula oil and they’ve got a range of
oils they sell rose hip oil which
doesn’t work for my skin type but if
you’ve got more of a drier skin type
rose hips beautiful and of course it
comes in a nice dark and bottle to help
preserve its quality I’m also this year
experimenting with some of the
Ordinaries retinoids their grand active
riptides this is the 5% and squalane
squalane itself is a really nice skin
barrier protecting ingredient so far I
am really enjoying the retinoids the
granite different noise particularly and
not irritating I’ve had like not a
single bit of irritation from using them
granted I’ve really built myself up
slowly starting with the 2% I’ve only
just recently moved into the 5% but if
you’re wanting a very inexpensive
retinoid that were like irritate and
burn your skin off then that one is
really great I haven’t tried many of the
acids from the ordinary I know they sell
like a salicylic acid
and I’m sure they probably have a lactic
acid or something as well which is an
AAA I haven’t really experimented with
those I can’t vouch for them but it is
something I’m gonna look into trying and
picking up because again I feel like a
HAMB a cherry too come across in the
drugstore or the supermarket that don’t
have those extra filler ingredients a
lot of the glycolic acid toners and
stuff also contain fragrance or like
alcohol and are not very good for the
skin so that’s why I’m very hesitant to
sort of recommend a lot of those active
products from the drugstore but I would
consider looking into what the ordinary
offers in that way in terms of
moisturizers the my favorite drugstore
moisturizer for more like oily skin is
the Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream now
if you have dry skin that’s a really
nice product to use kind of a bit more
as like a humectant like a hydrating
layer and then you’d want to layer
something a little bit more occlusive on
top but I find from my skin type the
Neutrogena is great on its own if you do
have dry skin I’d recommend checking out
again like the CeraVe moisturizers I’ve
had a lot of you recommending the PM
moisturizer the night moisturizer for
dry skin which is something I haven’t
yet tried but I do plan to pick it up at
some stage because we do actually we can
buy that one here in Australia but yeah
definitely the Neutrogena is great if
you do have a bit more normal to oily
skin in terms of a face mask because
this was kind of actually the product
that really sparked this video for me as
well I had one of you reach out to me on
Instagram and asking about like a great
face mask you can get at the supermarket
and I was like get yourself a bottle of
manuka honey because this is the best
kind of DIY mask that you can get it
somewhere like the drugstore or the
supermarket this is the New Zealand
brand why middie manuka honey you can
buy it here in Australia and I’m pretty
sure honey is a huge export for New
Zealand so I’m sure you actually got to
find a Kiwi branded manuka honey in the
States or in Europe or wherever you are
make sure that it’s got at least a
30-plus MgO rating because that is a
pretty high quality kind of manuka honey
it can go up to about 90 I think you
don’t have to buy like the highest
quality because they can get very
expensive but as long as it’s at least
30 plus mg oh you’re going to get the
benefits of what manuka honey offers
honey is a beautiful humectant it’s
going to
hydrate the skin it’s gonna sue there
it’s gonna make it feel nice and soft
this was about ten dollars here in
Australia but you can get so many face
masks out of this all you literally have
to do is get a spoon and scoop them out
and spread it on your face and it tastes
nice as well it’s good on toast and then
finally we’re going to talk about
sunscreen so again this was the category
like toner where I really didn’t have a
sunscreen that I really believed in from
the drugstore or the supermarket a lot
of sunscreens here even if they fit the
bill in terms of like not containing
fragrance and not containing essential
oils they can often be quite
unattractive formulas and it just don’t
sit nicely under makeup perhaps they
were really strong like chemical kind of
sunscreen smell and can just generally
be not very nice to use so I’m gonna
suggest three Korean ones that you
should look into in Australia and New
Zealand it is very difficult for
sunscreens to kind of get on the market
it takes a lot of paperwork and a lot of
time for a sunscreen to be approved so
we don’t often have the biggest
selection here I know that the states
does have a bit more for example
something like the sea reveille a.m.
moisturizer that has an SPF that’s not
available here because it hasn’t been
approved for Australian use yet might in
the future who knows but I know that we
can’t buy that one here but that is one
that a lot of people recommend but I
have a couple of Korean ones that I
really really love and that I think are
worth the wait like order them now order
them online and wait for them to come it
and they’re really nice Korean and
Japanese sunscreens often have a much
nicer texture under makeup and they’re
just really attractive formulas but they
also offer extremely high protection so
the first one I’d recommend is the
pureed oats in Taylor green level
unscented sunless is SPF 50 pa+ pass
pass pass it’s extremely high protection
it is essential oil free it’s fragrance
free this is a chemical screen however
it uses the new-age chemical filters
that are far superior to the ones you’ll
find on the market in the u.s. they
don’t break down in UV as much as the
older generation of chemical filters
they tend to be less irritating and
they’re more reef safe as well so this
is one of my absolute favorite
sunscreens I’ve ever used it is quite a
moisturizing formulation it can leave
your skin quite glowy
but even as someone with an oily skin
type I find that it doesn’t like a fix
my makeup badly or anything
whose just it’s quite moisturizing you
could probably even skip moisturizer and
just use this on its own if you wanted
the other one I’d recommend is even more
affordable it’s by can make Tokyo so
this is a Japanese sunscreen and this is
the mermaid skin gel UV this is o2 the
white version but I’d recommend getting
the shade o one which is clear
it just has a more invisible formulation
than the white one but both of them set
nicely under makeup I’m just trying to
use this one up and then I’ll repurchase
the clear ones this is SPF 50 PA + + + +
so again it’s very very high protection
against UVA and UVB I probably recommend
the mermaid one a little bit more for
oily skin types just because even though
it’s quite a glowy finish I find that it
does sit down and away as opposed to
this Intelli one which feels kind of
more moisturizing on the skin but I love
both of them as I say over normal to
oily skin type and I love both they are
both chemical screens though so if you
are after a purely physical screen I
have been trying this other one from
pure ito which I put in my last
favorites actually as a fail because it
was pelling on me like mad and I had
tried different combinations and felt
like it was the product itself but I
think it’s just a product you just
cannot layer too much under it’s the
comfy water sunblock from pure ito again
it is fragrance and essential oil free
this is a 100% physical non nano
sunscreens so great if you do have
extremely sensitive skin I would just
say that with much trial and error I
have discovered that you just cannot
layer too many serums or products
underneath like keep your skincare
routine extremely simple I find it to be
hydrating enough to use without a
moisturizer and that also helps to stop
any extra pilling as well those are all
the products I wanted to talk about and
recommend for you guys I hope there’s
something in here that can help you out
but of course I only have one face and I
only have one skin type so if there are
recommendations for other skin types
other than my own
normally that you have leave them below
I’d love to like generate a bit of a
product recommendation sort of forum in
the comment section as well but that is
everything for today if you want to talk
with me in between my videos make sure
you go check out my socials I have
Instagram Facebook Twitter and Pinterest
and until my next video I hope you guys
have a wonderful couple of days and
we’ll talk soon bye
