Affordable Skin Care: Target & Walmart| Dr Dray

well hey guys I’m here Walmart so let’s buzz on in and check out the skincare all right so let’s just go through this set of fill products that they have here they have Cetaphil gentle makeup removing actually as far as makeup removers go you all know that I’m not a fan of that may leave behind residual that can lead to irritant and contact dermatitis but this one is okay it has cucumber aloe no fragrance at Alan toen it also has a little bit of green tea which believe it or not is one of the very few things that can actually minimize pores so those of you who are waters described like on a flight need to take your makeup off this is actually a pretty good one um I have tried it and I think it’s very gentle it’s similar as far as its gentle as to the Bioderma one that’s so popular and here it’s eight dollars and forty seven Sun fantastic alright let’s talk about set up cleansers okay I’m going questions about their concerts they have two one I hate and one I hate a little bit less reason I hate them is because how I’ll explain this is the daily facial cleanser alright it has the strongest most off-putting fragrance in it in my opinion is incredibly drumming and irritating around the eyes I used this for a solid year sometime in college and my skin was it was very dry and problematic when I use this albeit I was living in a dry climate but I don’t think it’s a good one I don’t recommend it likewise equate has a less expensive version of the same thing that is not good then let’s talk about the gentle one okay the gentle skin cleanser is their kind of creamy formula but it’s fragrance free it is a lot more gentle but it doesn’t do a very good job taking off mascara so I don’t really find it useful whatsoever the reason this one is much gentler is that it also has this one also a study about Laurel sulfate in it so it’s really not that gentle okay and they have a foaming cleanser as well which is fragrance free fine this one seems to be okay I have not personally tried it many of you like it all right this has panthino which can be moisturizing you know face washing kind of things that seem reasonable the makeup remover seems okay but rinse it off just rinse it off to get that receipt off if you can the gentle foaming cleanser okay then of course they’ve got a nice scrub I don’t want no scrub okay not only they have a scrub which is going to cause irritation but thanks to put fragrance in it now ran out so this is not good yeah Cetaphil cleansers are never a phantom but taking a step down their body moisturizers are really were or they they say oh I like the daily advance lotion this is a fragrance for a pretty pretty heavy moisturizing lotion that’s pretty good for the body okay I like this one and I believe at the equate one which is okay this one’s $11.

22 and the equate one is six dollars and forty seven cents so if you’re not mad at Walmart then it gets you the acquainted it is a lot less expensive this is a good a good body moisturizer new they also have the tub oh yeah tub on top here $10 93 cents put this on to undo the damage of bathing okay when you bathe you dry out your skin by virtue of getting it wet that leads to transit the dermal water loss so at the end of your shower as you’re stepping on to the tub these are good ones to grease up on the body all right these are good too to combat that the other one that is a favorite as I’ve said many times is Vani cream I love this pump one very handy keep it on the edge of your tub that way you never forget you know you know my homeboy CeraVe in the tub can do no wrong also a fantastic one wait doesn’t have a Sarah me in the tub standing next to me she was there and I swear actor in the face all right their daily advance coming back to Cetaphil the daily advance lotion ultra hydrating it’s also a really good one fragrance fries alright and then coming down they have an oil control moisturizer that’s broad-spectrum SPF 30 that is decent it is a chemical sunscreen it is fragrance free and they have ceramides in it am only a fan of their of their sunscreens fYI they have some good ones this is a great one and then they also have the daily a facial moisturizer with sunscreen SPF 50 plus also just oh this is a combination sunscreen that’s right this one’s a little bit better in my opinion than this one because of the titanium dioxide I wish it had zinc oxide in it though zinc is kind of more robust than titanium as far as the UVA coverage but this is a good one all right now I’m not seeing a quoit version of the SPF 50 you want SPF 30 to 50 equate it’s got an SPF 15 version of the chemical sunscreen so not quite as good again not equality quite and this doesn’t have ceramides in its own I don’t know Cetaphil has a daily facial moisturizer with sunscreen broad-spectrum SPF 15 this is a chemical sunscreen I don’t think this is worth it SPF 15 by the time you put this on you’re going to get around an SPF of 5 and it’s completely useless and it’s 11 dollars and 76 cents I don’t think this offers much Cetaphil doesn’t fill the bill set a fill but this one’s nice for a chemical sunscreen if you’re not bothered by a the Ben zone that’s what’s giving you the UVA coverage in this very moisturizing good for acne prone skin I like it let’s put their oil control phone wash entails this is they put fragrance in it and not a fan but what can I say what else does this have an edge it has oh closer is 8 that is licorice root extract which can have a brightening effect and the anti-inflammatory it also has glycerin which is moisturizing I put some of this on my Instagram the other day but the survey foaming facial tones heard many people ask me what’s the difference between this and the hydrating facial cleanser this has a sodium lauryl Starcross mate which is just a like a mild surfactant this is the foaming okay it can be a little bit drying but some people love this okay it’s marketed for normal to oily skin okay then the hydrating facial cleanser I also adore personally it has instead of instead of sodium lauryl ill circus made it comes polysorbate which is a cervical derived mild mild moly incredibly gentle surfactant derived from plants and when I put this on my Instagram it was like people were all chiming in either than they loved this one or they loved that one I would say it was like almost completely split but most people I didn’t find anybody who just didn’t like the Serenbe face washes so these are really good and I imagine the equate LCD equate hydrating equates got dupes for both of them at half the price but you know guys um he’s in Canada do you have the equate dupes of survey products although I think some of you are already mentioned that you’re using survey from that are in Canada no that’s it’s more readily available no I believe which is good to comment below do you have the equate dupes alright now I also personally really love Sara BPM but they do for me formulated at recently it says ultra lightweight and many people have started mentioning in the comments that they find it stings more and more irritating and they attribute it to the fact that they added more sodium hydroxide I can’t comment on that I personally didn’t notice the difference however as I mentioned in my skincare routine it’s one over here I stopped I’m really not using Sarah ppm anymore it’s ten I’m just using the Sarah be moisturizing cream in the tub to my entire body neck face it’s a churro so I’m just multi purposing with this and it’s a better value and you know since I’ve been since I’m on track no I know I just found that that really helped me not experience any excessive irritation doing it that way so as I talked about my skincare routine so yeah a lot of time I was in Walmart somebody asked if I could talk about the purpose gentle clowns English I am NOT a fan of this this is kind of exactly the same problem as the Cetaphil one it has heavy fragrance in it so if you like the fragrance and Cetaphil daily facial cleanser the non creamy one you would probably like this and it’s more affordable they’re quite similar but I don’t like it because of the fragrance likewise I don’t like the bar it’s it’s drawing it has fragrance in it not a fan of mine so let’s give target a whirl and see what they have its if they have this new it dubbed our series which in dove I guess is trying to win back the hearts of dermatologists because they we always just reflexively no maybe that’s been derma series of all fragrance-free things and they’ve got this dry skin relief body lotion um to me this is not too much different from at the Cetaphil moisturizing lotion tbh a little bit more it’s more expensive a little bit more expensive I mean not too too much but it’s not really offering anything anything magical over Cetaphil or Vani cream or or or definitely not over Sarah because it doesn’t it doesn’t have Sarah mines in it oh man they put lemon peel powder in this in lime peel powder I just noticed that what the heck did they put that in there for okay well a citrus citrus peel and in a body moisturizer is not good for eczema mm-hmm nevermind let’s see what the eczema reliefs you think body lotion is this one actually I like the idea of because it is colloidal oatmeal gum and it’s fragrance free but this doesn’t this is no this is not any more unique than a vino eczema personally and then lastly they have a hand cream here which I mean I personally don’t think it’s too much better than my favorite hand cream is actually the Norwegian formula and it’s really nice but I’m at 6:19 I mean it’s it’s really just a fragrance free lotion and a smaller bottle I think if you got this dove eczema relief you could put it on your hands and and find it was a good barrier repair now I get a lot of questions about the gold bond products they tend to put fragrance in their stuff here’s an eczema relief one with 2% colloidal oatmeal in it and a hope oil which is moisturizing ceramides this is actually a good one this is actually superior it does not have fragrance so I’m liking the XML relief when in doubt go with things marketed towards people with XML they’re generally fragrance free check out the strength and resilience proteins and lipids I can’t talked about all all about how peptides which are components of proteins are sort of gimmicky and moisturize in skin care products but for the most part can just act as humectants lipids make sense to put in there but it’s not a unique feature to any one particular lotion and no this is not going to make you stronger or faster or you know okay this isn’t like you’re gonna turn on Arnold Schwarzenegger here look they put this this honeycomb molecule like structural to make it extra scientific and purple it’s so ridiculous okay what does this happen in a ginger root that sounds like a like a Thai curry let’s not put that on our face lentil fruit whoa I didn’t know lentil had a fruit probably nuts who knows how good that is in skin care products a watermelon fruit extract this as far as the dry mature skin concerns like if you notice that your skin is extra licensed since going through some changes of older of our older years you know the hot flash stages you all know what I’m talking about I wouldn’t gravitate towards those just stick to the just stick to the do you really like these skin fix products they’re kind of a under sold I do recommend them they don’t have they tend to not have fragrance in them I like the 12-hour healing ointment this is a good one this is basically just a just a Lant this is good because it’s lanolin free a lot of people can develop sensitivity to lanolin it is cruelty free and it also has a LAN toen and shea butter very good moisturizer I like this 12-hour healing ointment a lot Aveeno has this body moisturizer that it’s marketing towards diabetics they they’ll put either a different you know medical condition or a different you know skin type on something but really it’s more or less oftentimes the same thing this is a dimethicone base skin protectant dimethicone is a great moisturizing ingredient this also has the colloidal oatmeal and shea butter this is a fantastic a fantastic moisturizer you don’t have to have diabetes to use this but if you do it wouldn’t wouldn’t be bad either but it’s not gonna fix your diabetes the eczema therapy moisturizing cream however is another good choice for diabetics and non diabetics enhance colloidal oatmeal again a skin protectant and glycerin very well very good moisturizing ingredient and the the up and up the up and up versions are are likewise fantastic yeah I see this up and not version dimethicone this is this is more or less the same thing as the diabetic one but at 669 for this big 18 fluid ounce bottle in comparison to the Aveeno 12 ounce one for $8.

99 you know you get me on this lab under one you get me you got my you pull my heartstrings with the calming scent of this but fragrance is no no good and skincare products this does smell really nice I’m not gonna I’m not gonna pretend I don’t like okay let’s talk about body sunscreens cuz um I talked about face sunscreens a lot but banana boat has really really got a fantastic line on this product in particular I am really happy with it is a banana banana boat simply protects sport SPF 50 plus this is a combination sunscreen which is really hard to voiced man passing by he’s talking on speakerphone soon anyways alright so this is a combination sunscreen with zinc in it so it’s really hard to find it’s really hard to find affordable body sunscreens that have that are mineral based so this is a great value for nine nine ounces at $9.

99 that’s that’s pretty decent price and it’s zinc oxide and a few UVB chemical filter so this one can you go to be a protection it is a water-resistant what that means it’s not they determine the SPF submerged the subjects arm or wherever the patch was in a whirlpool bath for twenty minutes I retained it after that they repeated it for a total of four times over four twenty minute while people put whirlpool bath immersions will retain the SPF but after that after that the SPF fades so there’s no such thing as waterproof it always has to be labeled water or sweat sweat resistant but these are great choices for people who work out outside or outside the sweating a lot because they just they just help keep that on there a little bit longer in the fact that you’re relying in this case on zinc for UVA protection you don’t have to you don’t have to worry as much about about the photo about the photo degradation okay so if you’re using a chemical sunscreen you’re relying on a bad end zone for UVA protection and that’s more than fine but it degrades it’s pretty quickly and so you’re really really still need to reapply this every two hours while you’re outdoors for sure but the zinc on there is is going to give you UVA protection which UVA if you’re a new here is the wavelength that penetrates deeply into the skin ages and causes wrinkles okay so I really like this one I also really like their their sport performance sunscreens these are the chemical ones okay so these these are great these do know are you’re relying on Ava benzene the chemical filter for your UVA protection on this but both you both regardless of what sunscreens you got to reapply it every two hours while you’re outside copper tuned I love a lot of their sunscreen unfortunately the sport one they put fragrance in which I’m not too much of a fan of but the copper tuned water babies is a good one no fragrance green I would choose this it’s also water-resistant love the Neutrogena parent free baby sunscreen this is a phenomenal one you don’t have to be a baby to use it sunscreen is marketed towards babies tend to be mineral sunscreens because a lot of people believe that their consumers believe it they’re safer the fact the matter we we don’t have any any information to to make us think that chemical sunscreens are dangerous to babies but given parents concerns that’s why sunscreen and makers marketed that way and I also likewise love the Aveeno continuous protection for a vino baby it’s a zinc oxide sunscreen really a fantastic one and then banana boat swung into the game here with their SPF 50 plus simply protect baby this is a comp titanium and zinc oxide sunscreen this is phenomenal this is great for the whole family love it also love the baby Ganic smen are all sunscreen as well if you’re new Europe and are and/or you missed my own if you missed my super group sunscreen review where I said sprays do not reliably put on SPF okay people are relying on sprays they’re not bad but you lose about 25% of the product to the atmosphere when you aerosolize it so you do know you’re kind of just wasting your money and swearing the neighboring mosquito with a spray sunscreen sticks likewise are not they’re helpful ad they’re helpful add-ons but they’re not good enough you’re not gonna you’re not gonna coat your entire body in that tiny little stick even a baby even I’m gonna be a really really tiny baby coming over here to the dog stuff they also have a body wash that is fragrance free but kind of a non American guy they have a fragrance free on gentle cleansing face wash 250 ml it doesn’t really offer anything magical though it does have niacinamide in it which can help with inflammation then in the derma series they have a dry skin relief gentle cleansing bar if you’re somebody who loves using face bars then I think this is a reasonable choice personally I find that all cleansing bars face bars are very drying this one has sodium lauryl ice with the unite which is kind of a mild it’s a relatively mild surfactant that can be can be pretty drying to the other then I’m not impressed with the Dove derma Eve dry skin really for replenishing face cream this is only SPF 15 and it’s just a chemical sunscreen remember this this may sting people and doesn’t really offer a striking striking the SPF they’ve kind of interested to try out their expert repairing balm for severely dry areas this is 1699 which is kind of pricey I want to see how this compares to the Aveeno eczema therapy balm this is a demo Ethicon based body moisturiser looks good but it doesn’t seem to be a very good value overall my impression of the domed of derma e series is that they’re a little costly for what they’re offering yeah that bomb is 1699 I hope that was helpful note about body sunscreens like I was trying to say in there you know in general I think some of the better ones just because they’re almost always mineral sunscreens are those marketed for babies mineral sunscreens that have zinc zinc in them in particular are very are much more reliable for giving you coverage against both UVB and UVA so I like those for the body they tend to leave a cast however but you know when you’re when you’re at the beach and everything you may care a little bit less about about that kind of aesthetic type thing so I think they’re really good for the body I think they’re really good for working out as well chemical sunscreens blend in a lot better they have Ava Ben’s own as their UVA filter which is fine but it degrades with exposure to light pretty you know relatively quickly okay so it starts losing efficacy ah you know it starts dropping down its coverage against UVA just starts starts to decline okay within that within that two-hour window of time that you’re wearing it before you reapply it for whatever reason now you know chemical sunscreens blended in the skin really well but for whatever reason people find that they sting around the eyes that they burn you know if that’s the case then and gravitate towards sunscreen marketed towards a baby those tend to not only be mineral based which is a lot less irritating around the eyes but also to be very gentle in general you know nobody wants to sting a baby so those are usually good ones water-resistant just means that they tested the SPF and they then exposed the tested area to if it’s 80 minutes for 20 minutes submersions in a whirlpool bath and it retained the SPF okay so it doesn’t mean it’s waterproof it doesn’t mean that if you go into a pool that you are you know you’re it doesn’t come off okay it just means that after after that that exposure it will retain its SPF so while it’s while it’s helpful it helps with you know keeping it kind of in place when you’re sweating a lot it doesn’t mean that you’re good to go once you get out of the out of the water out of the pool that you don’t need to reapply okay because actual real life swimming and real life you know being in the ocean it doesn’t doesn’t you know capture the way that that is that that is determined they’re not really they’re not that similar you know you’re in the ocean there’s currents and everything that are ongoing and so you lose you’re gonna lose it and you still need to reapply it but for the improvement for the purposes of sweating and being outside when you’re sweating I think it’s helpful to have those water resistant sunscreens they just kind of stay in place a little bit better with the sweating and they don’t get into your eyes and bleed and sting you need to apply to the top of your ears the back your neck all the surfaces and in order to get to the SPF on the bottle you need to be applying most people don’t apply that it’s okay you need to be applying two milligrams per centimeter square of sunscreen that’s quite a bit okay most people don’t put that much on you know and so that’s why we recommend SPF 30 to 50 okay because somewhere in the ballpark of 30 to 50 the way people put sunscreen on I mean it’s really hard to put it on right the white people put sunscreen on they’re at least getting something like an SPF of 15 or so and that’s good all right so that’s why that that is what is recommended but it doesn’t mean that higher is better okay like higher than 50 is definitely it is misleading okay it doesn’t offer you anything over over you know SPF 40 30 okay you’re starting to just you’re starting to just you know pick little fractions of a hair at that point and it’s something misleading that sunscreen manufacturers you know trying tout their product as being SPF 100 plus and you know there’s there’s some talk about regulating what they’re able to put on the label as far as that because it’s incredibly misleading but just know that I just shoot for 30 to 50 and don’t don’t be fooled by anything higher than anything higher than that so but comment below on what body sunscreen you plan to use this summer also don’t forget your Sun protective clothing clothing fabrics with a tight weave you know I wear clothing and the this is a UPF 50 shirt that I got on Amazon that I’m loving so basically anywhere that this is covering I’m not like I’m not like losing sleep about sun exposure on the body there but the fabrics with a tight weave will also offer you a good protection you don’t necessarily need the fabrics that are impregnated with the Sun guards they sell a rinse that you can wash your clothing with that offers a little bit of the that offers the UPF factor into the fabric I don’t know how many rinses that is that that holds up before but those are all additional things that you could do to help yourself but get a broad bro hat for sure you know protect all services I really cannot overemphasize some protection if you are somebody who is struggling with melasma post inflammatory hyperpigmentation these are all keys to to getting that to ever ever fade and go away but anyways guys I hope you all enjoyed the Target Walmart a run through and you liked this video if so give it a thumbs up share it with your friends and as always don’t forget sunscreen and subscribe [Music] you [Music]
