5 SKINCARE INGREDIENTS YOU NEED IN YOUR ROUTINE | KAUSHAL BEAUTY
hello everyone I hope you guys are okay I’m sorry about the technical glitch I’ve just messaged doctor me to let her know that we are live and we are ready to rock and roll so for those of you who aren’t really familiar with her work then basically she is a doctor who specializes in people of color and their skin and their skin care so she is the perfect person for my audience because my audience is majority of an ethnic background so she’s gonna be talking us through ingredients that we should be looking out for in our skincare routines and certain ingredients up don’t really do much to a skin or for asking so this Instagram live should be really really good and I am going to save this live and post it as an IG TV so you guys can come back to it or you can make notes if you want to and yeah it’s gonna be it’s gonna be an epic like so um I know my friends t-shirt it’s from Primark it’s quite old but I love it I literally wear it all the time so and yeah I am gonna see if dr.
V is on here haha so I’m gonna post this on my IG TV I may post onto YouTube depending on if you guys want to see hello having Miko she’ll know oh my god I’m literally so excited to do this and I feel like so many people who will be tuning in or watching this later I gotta find it so useful and you really know your stuff I was telling everyone online earlier that you’re not just like a skincare enthusiast or just like a person that’s really into skincare or a skincare specialist your doctor like you know yourself I mean this is this is like the thing that you know the people will watch II and things and I will geek out on ingredients so I love that you are another Asian woman I get to do a live with another amazing Asian woman who’s got this amazing business and who really knows her stuff and I feel like you’re such an authority figure in the industry I was just a bit like this is gonna be like such an incredible thing to do I think it’s gonna be amazing so I did run through a bit of a kind of schedule of like what we’re planning to do but I want to give you the floor to basically if you like right this is what we need as a community in a skin care so okay I’m not gonna make any notes because I’m gonna type this all up on the caption when I post it as an ID TV so I’m gonna take the floor and educate not only everyone watching but me as well okay so basically what it is is with skin of color we have large melanocytes the cells are producing the pigment melanin and so those cells basically can over produce pigment if they become inflamed so we can’t afford to irritate our skin at all compared to Caucasian skin where they can literally do a TCA peel burn the skin and they’ll be fine what is that is that why when sometimes we get a spot it exactly literally we can’t afford one scratch one bite one burn we pigment yeah we have to be careful with our skin compared to Caucasians and that’s why we have to be a lot more educated with what we’re putting on our skin which is it so then if you yeah so that’s it once you know that and you just know that you want to look off make sure you don’t cause any inflammation to your skin then you just stop picking your ingredients based on that knowledge yeah yeah really yes okay so would you be able to give us some ingredients that we should be looking for in our skincare routine yep product okay the number one is your vitamin A so bitumen is your number one antiaging ingredient so that’s basically one of the only products that you can put on your skin that will stimulate collagen so my favorite is retinaldehyde so highly recommended height is perfect the skin of color nor point one percent because what it does is it’s almost as effective as retina weak acid which is a pure but with zero side effects obn we like that I know the problem is it is expensive and it’s hard to get hold of in fact I was looking and we I manufacture it in our products at the hyperpigmentation clinic but actually open contacts only find one brand derma quest you sell north wing one said about retinaldehyde and that is the best so stimulates a collagen increases your cell turnover so that you have you get rid of that double dead skin that happens as we age that’s just something that you want in your skincare routine from about 25 years old on plus my anti-aging yeah you know two years old is when you have after 20 years every year no way and you can find it but better not very irritating to us in we can’t put 1% on from the ordinary it will irritate your skin you may get more pigmentation so and so definitely buy a lower the center to maximum not make 2% retinol in a color that’s really weird because I’ve been for some weird reason when like retinol was like a big thing I think it was like last year maybe the year before in skincare was like everyone was talking about retinol and I just but I didn’t really do much research my mate from gonna be but I just was really scared but my skin I don’t know it just I don’t know why but it put me off and I’ve always been scared to put it on but now that I know that I need to look for a certain percentage of that it makes everything a lot clearer point two percent retinol retinol in Sweden is perfect okay or you can also notice five percent Gran active retinoid so those two you can purchase my favorites still gonna be breast maldehyde but this is much cheaper I mean easily yeah I know you need to play with the ordinary so we are about good clean like the ingredients like it is what it says what it is on the package I know and the cause of a formulator I need to know percentages for me it’s not good enough for it to say I always got retinol and they think anything could say he’s got it I suppose but yeah there’s a percentage that yeah like you said plays the bigger part for us we’re not just talking agent skincare we’re talking any like people of color skincare like it’s not just hot yeah so you know I get all the time they’ll someone might say oh but I’m European but I get pigmentation it’s the causing melanocytes and knowledge so that’s all it is um the whole thing comes down to melanocytes those cells produce melanin if those cells like me is stimulated then you have to be careful if you get pigmentation from scratches or in the thigh pigmentation or other flaws pigmentation yeah then you get a color and you have to be careful I think I can annoying spot and like it look like I’ve got a spot for like a month and a half two months but it’s just a piece of scarring like on my tits I’m not going to brown all red hey guys brownie have a goes Brown I yeah yeah so that’s pure pigmentation so basically what it is it’s new people sometimes don’t know when they get a mark whether it’s erythema piee or whether it’s PIH so if you put gloss up to it if that mark blows then that is basically a capillary issue it’s piee so it needs complete different treatments compared to what you’re getting which is pigmentation yeah hide yes well done right is there yeah and what would you say is another and sorry did you yeah so vitamin A is this business so that’s all bitumen a done yes simple easy but put it on at night time as one of your first actives after you’ve cleanse your face pop on your bitumen a and that’s the best times with Wow and it’s really weird because I always thought vitamin C was the hero product for pigmentation but is actually this bitumen anti-aging for fine lines I for me it’s around the mouth area yeah pop it on my issues okay so vitamin A is for fight I was typically for anti-aging okay amazing so one thing that I actually I spoke to dr.
V yesterday on the phone and we were just talking about a skincare and she said something really really interesting about cuz I was like is there like a way that you should cut your skincare on and I loved the analogy you gave us what you want out of your skin case without putting that product on first lend any other products on top so that’s a tip for anyone who and it’s not my tip it’s totally for me my issues are very happy for my issues yeah yeah then I get pigmentation yeah okay alpha are beating my ascorbic acid and then and my niacinamide so those three ingredients there and then I will apply my moisturizer which will have ceramides in them because again as the age BB ceramides okay and then on my same rose hip oil or screen like a multi-masking type thing but for skincare you don’t need to put cuz I do that I just slide everything on my face all over like a target the areas where you need antiaging you put on the areas where you need it in the areas that you only need it in I’m trying to get away for my kids and so we had a for anti-aging what’s another product that we should be the next one is b3 niacin emerged so fantastic so that’s basically everything ample everyone is one of those products which is very rare that will basically reduce sebum acne it will reduce any erythema red sensitive skin it will reduce your improve the texture of your skin – so yeah great but literally it does everything Y non-irritating it’s not pH percentage as your skin and so it just doesn’t irritate anybody so it’s one that I would 100% how you to put into your skincare routine also for pigmentation actually stops the melanin from growing from the Melania like to the cells above it and so from inside as well so mainly the melanin going into the cells around it garlic almost premium before you it before it gets to a stage where you’re like crap what do I do now yeah yeah they don’t mean like after so ya know it’s it’s it’s you know even over-the-counter so here for example is my Center my 10% blasting you cheaper from the ordinary oh my god amazing those definitely worth having in your I feel like that product whenever I try to get it as well I really amazing what I’ll do is I’ll get a list of products that you recommend for these certain ingredients and then I can pop it into the description box for this RGB video that I’ll post of are so they’ll make it really easy for everyone who’s wants to watch it back or wants to take notes or anything yes I’ll give you links and the next one is bitumen see so busy be careful you see people think oh this is amazing and we do and it is but it is so unstable yeah that it oxidizes it can’t you oxidize in the jar so basically what that means is you want to wear antioxidants in combination never ever purchase a bitumen sea spirit on its own it must always be c plus e cos verily casted as green tea extract so other antioxidants so antioxidant must always be in combination it’s not even worth your money buying mono therapy because it’s oxidized before it’s healing skin yeah and they say it’s the active ingredient right Rick which means that it goes off that’s what I’ve been told a it goes on adding like no no actives just mean anything that so I like for example when you look at back up in ingredients package some stuff will be Amulius solvents and those are not actives active things that do things to your skin so so that’s what that means but it’s unstable so you’re right okay yeah and that’s why you want to have it as a combination I’m so for example skin suta khals does a good one see drunk elephant does a good one actually just see firma I love that they are as clean as products like skincare books would be I love their marula oil I love their you can’t get it for the baby facial it’s like reading it’s like a really strong yeah yeah yeah I think that’s why you can’t get it because it’s like the ingredients are too strong for like the UK like laws of selling this imagine it really yeah so some just is I think for me also I get to see because of a number I mean I do five thousand treatments a year on skin of color I knew she can’t even afford one which means everything that I talk about has to be safe yeah yeah yeah yeah I’m scared to use that I used it quite a few times to be fair but I was so scared I would put it on and then within about three minutes I’ll be like it makes it sound like so cute TLC because now adorable loans yeah good products yeah and it’s great to know that they do a really good like the Bissman see the see firma which is really really good you know love about it is they don’t use fragrance so fragrance of one of the things that you want to bleed in your skin cap and then hide it so bill if you look at at lack of ingredient it won’t sometimes I say path you but sometimes we’ll say citral or lemma okay and so you you don’t even know that that’s so what I would say is smell your products if they smell like strawberries and lemon it’s got fragrance in it I love smelly ingredients like I want to smell the other leg acid but that could also be a geek in me smell the niacinamide I feel I need to get niacinamide in my life so be so it’s bringing that right a few times yeah so brilliant because of the ceramide so that’s one of the ingredients I would definitely say to add to our Cinco ceremonies but as we aged that goes down and so the hydration levels of our skin goes down and that’s why as the age our skin feels dry yeah and well you lose the glow that you have we were younger and so when you want to do is replace the ceramides so this is a great thing to be wearing actually around the eye area plus nice and okay in this product which means it’s a high percentage sometimes like people can refer back to it and I think it’s really like I feel like if you watch it again and again you’ll get new stuff out of the video so it’s a really really really good information ingredients you want to mention or yeah the other one I would say is peptides so do you make peptides in your skincare I feel like I’ve seen the word somewhere in one of my skin fair drawers have you got protein by any chance protein peptide yeah yeah I think that’s where I think that must be where I’ve erm whatsoever could read that word yeah using because I’ve got 19 peptides and again it stimulates collagen remember no shell on this unit was you had kids as well I think I’ve got a mask or a eye cream or some sort of cream from enemies which is all to do with peptides like that’s there okay fine yeah perfect and it’s something that we should definitely okay you know how we get asked o our collagen supplement is good you’ve been asked yeah yeah yeah yeah so collagen is basically if you’re not taking enough protein into your system yes skin least important so protein will go everywhere before it hits our skin it will go hot kidneys and lungs brain everything it’ll hurt but yeah so basically that means sumak and not protein you’re gonna see it on your skin with a lot so I would say you want to hit about no 27 grams of protein per pound that you weigh so I’m about 117 pounds and I eat 18 grams of protein and if you don’t do that then it’s worth topping up with supplements got it okay yeah so I use for example vital proteins that collagen powder that gives you about 20 grams per scoop which is great I mean that’s if I’m only eating 50 or 60 grams that day that just tops me up and gets me to my 80 grams so you want to make sure especially to the age that yeah our routine contain claim is okay yeah that’s interesting it’s interesting that you’re talking about physically eating things how do I get skin like yours or how do I get skin like this and I think I didn’t forget the thoughts you think and the things you eat may play a massive part in your in the way that you are neatly honestly you know the other big one that we don’t talk about and we should talk about is stress yes oh god every skin condition worse whether it’s eczema whether it’s melasma where there’s acne every single skin condition worsens but as age it all worsens with dress because of course so I saw that in my mom when my dad was really ill my mom was very very stressed out and like within like a five-year period she aged like ten years like it was it was crazy to see and cause even the which isn’t like from then to now and you just come in a wall you could age so much in that short period of time but it wasn’t stressed that she was kind of going through like this I struggle with stress I mean I’m the last person to talk I try every you know as much I can with meditation and yeah but I always recommend is how to start living and stop worrying and I was a recommending you say that cuz I feel like that saying out loud makes you kind of go oh watch again that is an especially coming from a doctor like hello like candy so even though your doctor like you still go through the same stresses or else a hundred percent and I’m I’m very open about talking about it because move I mean I’m not the only mom out there who’s working and you know homeschooling right now yeah we are it’s important to self care look after yourself first because otherwise you have no capacity for anything else in life no you might blend our walk before I look at the children right shall we talk about some products that may be amazed but like products that we might not really need to use I really need to look out for for people who color definitely okay so the one that I always say they should avoid all skin types is alcohol I think people are getting a lot of people starting to reduce in co Rangers you know alcohol on it with really a person loves that feeling of stripping the skin yeah feeling like sneakers gone yeah but actually doing is twofold making a mistake number one you’re actually damaging the top their skin and so you are not allowing the skin to repair and who is that you’re basically opening you’re allowing the skin to produce more sebum than it was before encouraging more sebum production which means if an acne so stuck up it’s a sign everything’s that I covered I’m never-ending cycle is just it’s not worth it I know that satisfaction that you get when you’d like you know I you know we just give you like squeaky and I’m like I know I do you test acne or not really phase in my teenage years but I got quite a bit of like forehead specifically on the warhead okay but I suffer more from pigmentation I’ll get like an odd spot here and there usually it’s around that time of the month and what I use there’s always gonna be that element of a bit of a scar there yeah leaky change your skincare around that time of the month do you change I do in the sense that if I if I feel a spot coming on I will try and use certain products that are supposed to help it come on down or not be as aggravated as possible and I’ve been not doing that more so in the last six months a year to six months and I have noticed a difference but when I get the spots up underneath my skin yes but that’s where I need to use is it peptides and saladboy acid basically that time of the month do you measure it to time like when it is feeling could you can use decide do you know two days before between five to seven days before okay fine so you know roughly when it’s time to happen oh just your wish swap your wash for salicylic acid what so even this just what that because this is basically into the pool cleans up the pool reduces your sebum and unclog support so it just doesn’t allow the spine okay so industry are either actually its cyclically changing our routine so this is you know I don’t even is my husband will tell me you’ll be like [Laughter] [Laughter] No yeah so that’s the other big one it’s a that type of month wanna see you happy I happen to everybody yeah yeah your level the sebum levels go up any any others the other big no-no combinations with glycolic acid with retinol or glycolic acid with vitamin C so the reason being a glycolic acid basically strips the top layer skin away and then if you’ll be my retinol which basically is increasing cell turnover you are now having cells coming to the surface which is stripping away which leads to irritation information okay avoid that combination and also avoid bitumen see don’t forget has to be at a low pH in order to stabilize vitamin C acid essentially combination oh it definitely would the other big one is offer people who are have acne prone skin and their own benzoyl peroxide it so we dehydrates with skinny so people on benzoyl peroxide should not for example be wearing bitumen a at the same time or any ages or any other acids so those are just some combinations that you want to stick to of yeah I’m brilliant okay that’s really good because I feel like sometimes you can be so bombarded with skin care products and you’re like cool I mean the best time I started learning about skin care and so my parents own clinics and it’s basically miss Murray we’re alone Cosmetics is where I learned how to manufacture where I learned how to largest exhibition for dermatologists globally and when I first started I was a medical student about 21 years old I had no idea about skincare and I own the aeroplane on the way to Dubai trying to memorize as much about seeing colleges yeah teaching me so he’s like the other genius of the family he’s just so yeah I mean I could not have done any of that you may when I add or is that kind of main ones that we should I mean I mean honestly you don’t have too much either so unless there’s only the problem so for example if you’ve got hyperpigmentation then that would be another set of ingredients if your issue is rosacea that set of ingredients so if those are problems then do that but if it’s just actually want to maintain good I wanna you know maybe rejuvenate and stimulate collagen yeah told you brilliant sir I know I’ve seen so many questions on this instrument basically I asked on my Instagram stories what are your main skin concerns and byxis like I was genuinely inundated with questions dr.
B and I are gonna do separate IG TVs for all the different kind of main skincare concerns that you guys had sent your way so we’re gonna plan out a bit of a schedule maybe we can post a little stories on our on our Instagram stories of like what dates my obese everyone can keep that one maybe half an hour foot five minutes clear in their diary but I didn’t want to like skim over hyperpigmentation or skim over acne scarring or skim over acne or mine mines on I didn’t want us to skin any of them I want it to be really information that people can really take on board and take away with them rather than just going oh yeah use about this we’ll use about that I don’t use a bit at least I want it to be quite a bit more in-depth so we can really understand what we’re putting on our skin so this was just kind of like an overall Instagram live the general ingredients that we should be looking for and the general kind of ingredients that we should stay clear of I hope that helped and I hope the fact that me telling you guys right now that we are going to be doing separate videos on I think the personal most probably be hyperpigmentation because that was like the number one way to that yeah yeah another thing I want to mention I know we’re obviously all in lockdown at the moment but dr.
B has her own clinic which specializes in hyperpigmentation I’d love for you to tell everyone on here and watching this later on just exactly what kind of treatment that is and I’ll see after the lockdown if anyone wants to go and see you for a consultation like I’ve seen all your before-and-after images and they are incredible so if you guys me if you could just tell them the guys on here just everything out there your your clinic could be amazing no actually really helpful no problem so basically what it was is I remember I just graduated from medical school and you know when you become a doctor in an Indian family everyone starts asking and when I started researching it I realized there was nothing for skin of color every single pigmentation treatment professional grade was designed in the West five occasions local Asians the things like my colleague at the TCA peels lay the hydroquinone and the problem is we burn we burn we pigment and it’s just not even worth you know going to your clinic and getting the the real there no basically I had this discussion my parents and I said listen can I just borrow your poetry and try and create the world’s first treatment for pigmentation and I own sales really you know I think I was a bit coffee at the beginning I thought was gonna be really quick I mean you know I’ve done two degrees how do I could this thing do you imagine totally underestimated how difficult it was gonna be and that’s why no one’s ever done it and I was probably ever gonna do it because it just it took me five years he fails for five years until we to a point where we started succeeding and now we have a 95% success rate with zero burns and that was my keeping as no burns yes burning is is what we definitely don’t want because we already have skin that pigment exactly I’ve all they did nothing I don’t I’d rather you didn’t go and see anyone I’ve already didn’t do anything to your skin than to make it worse because yeah once it does you’ve got pigmentation then even at need professional treatment so today we’ve done about 30,000 cases of pigmentation everything all over the face and body and then dark circles is a separate treatment that we design – yeah yeah so we can start training doctors globally on the dark circles treatment yeah hopefully like once yeah burner yeah amazing and also dr.
B has her own YouTube channel so you can watch her videos as well and skincare brands she’s talking about certain issues that people of color go through for their skin in general so I’m gonna leave a swipe up to her Instagram channel as well on my stories once we’re done with this live and but yeah like honestly check her out check harem handle out I’m gonna post it on all my social so you guys can find it super easy I feel like this has been so benefit like I I’ve learned so much so I can just imagine how much everyone else has learned from this and I’m actually excited to like save the slide my have you had any purse in lockdown has anything friend Nikki who cuts my hair and colors my hand she was like for doing a live together and we can cut our hair together yeah so that I never ever ever wear as you tell a lie I have done above so yeah I just kind of read so wasn’t really cut like a proper I never thought I would cut my hair I was like I need to go out anyway today I did my husband’s hair live with me and all of my followers I think it’s been really really good I can’t wait to schedule in our topic-specific in from Lowe’s they’re going to be they’re going to be amazing I just know it thank you so much and I will with you later on what’s up [Music] guys I hope you found that really helpful I know I didn’t get to answer many questions that you guys were sending through on the live not like me I don’t mean me answering them but like asking dr.
B but we really really really want to focus on topic-specific Instagram lives going forward because I feel like talking about something like hyperpigmentation or talking about something like acne should have its own video I will be sure to do a stories with all the dates and the times exactly all of the topics that we’re going to be covering so I you guys will appreciate that and I’m really sorry again that we didn’t get to answer very many questions that you guys are sending in but it’s because obviously we want to do a we want to do it all justice rather than just answering the odd question here that I just want to say thank you I know she’s not here right now but I want to say another thank you to dr.
V for sharing this knowledge with us I feel like it really really really helped me and I really hope it helped one for you guys as well as I’m gonna get going and I will see you guys all in my next in scram boys have an amazing back holiday weekend guys and I’ll see you all soon
