cleansing our first step we’re all used
to
you know pumping some on our hand
lathering it up and then kind of working
it into the skin but dry cleansing is a
little bit different in that you’re
taking the cleanser applying it directly
onto your dry skin working that in
without any water and letting it really
re not remoisturize the skin while it’s
kind of lifting away anything that’s on
your face from the day and then step two
is adding a little bit of water to then
emulsify it and then washing it off and
the reason we love this method that’s
quite new and kind of unspoken of but is
approved by different aestheticians you
should only use this method with certain
types of cleanses aka very gentle
cleanses and typically they’re your
cleansers that are more gel based and
cream or milk based you’re kind of
reaping all the benefits of the cleanser
and letting the ingredients really do
their job on our skin like a toner or a
serum would which is why it goes back to
the formulation and why we should only
be using this with certain types of
cleanses and what we found is that this
really works with all skin types so when
I feel like it’s getting a little bit
more dry I’ll go in with this dry
cleansing method to really make sure
that my cleanser is also really adding
to the moisturizing benefits in my
skincare routine rather than just taking
everything off but different cleanses
that I love to go with fall into two
categories one other more like milky
cleansers which I’ve got here this is
the pixie hydrating milky cleanser and
this one is really great because it’s
got coconut probiotics and coconut
derived ingredients in there to really
work with your skin and hydrate it and
nourish it and there’s also jojoba oil
in this to really nourish and moist in
the skin and it’s really creamy it’s
beautiful it looks like this it’s like
such a rich kind of milky consistency
and when you work this one in it just
looks like that and it’s almost like
applying a moisturizer onto your skin as
first step it doesn’t have any strong
overpowering scent and okay none of this
is sponsored by the way I just really
love cleanses there’s a whole milky
range and they all come in these cute
little milk bottle cotton things I kept
this especially to show you guys because
it is adorable
this has quickly become one of my go-to
favorites when my skin is feeling
especially dry and Scratchy and just you
know dehydrated so a very similar kind
of cousin to that is the first aid
beauty facial cleanser I really love
because one of the primary ingredients
that’s formulated throughout the line is
colloidal oatmeal and if you have ex-mo
you have sensitivities this is a great
brand to try out and in terms of
consistency darn fingers on my face
focus on the cleanser good girl this is
very similar in that it goes on with
this silky white texture this one’s more
cloudy it’s less dense than the pixie
the Pixies a little bit that got like a
thick of milk kind of like a cream these
milky cleanses are great for people with
combination skin the grateful oily dry
but especially for people with more
drier skin types so these are my two
favorites that I would highly suggest if
you want to try out affordable options
pixie and my like always go to whenever
I’m in desperate times of need is the
first aid now I have three gel
consistency cleanses that I absolutely
love using this method with because of
the texture it gives oh my god it’s just
so enjoyable one is the nutrient mixed
greens nutrient cleanser this one has
vitamin C green tea la next oh my god is
the pharmacy clean be ultra gentle
facial facial cleanser facial cleanser
and then the third is my holy grail I
mean that will my holy grail but I’ve
talked about this for a really long time
it’s the in dealey purifying face wash
clarify and calm there’s two types of
this this is the purifying and calming
one so the common denominator between
all of these is that it’s a luxurious
gel consistency that once again just
smooths over the skin
all of them are non-irritating the scent
is not obnoxious it’s not in-your-face
especially this pharmacy one because
it’s almost like using their honey
mosque in like a cleanser form it is so
delicious and it smells amazing
so it goes on like a clear gel and then
you kind of work it in and there will be
like a slight leathering effect but oh
this is just so luxurious on the skin
like all of you have to try this one and
then the India Lee I’ve talked about
this in a lot of previous video there’s
a bunch of different calming and
soothing ingredients as well as
nourishing oils all plant-based when I
say plant-based it’s non irritating so
that’s why I absolutely love this this
is like my third bottle I’ve repeated
the purchase over and over again and
then in tons of if you want a vegetable
salad on your face but for it to be like
a really enjoyable experience
it’s another clear gel much like the
ones that Ruina and I constantly talk
about and this oh my god in terms of
texture it’s like it actually feels like
a milky cleanser but it’s a clear gel if
that makes sense
these two a little bit they’re not in
consistency when you work it in as dry
cleansing this one has a little bit more
tack so for those of you who are a
little bit dry but also want a gel
cleanser for dry cleansing I would
highly suggest this one all of these are
very close to a skin’s natural pH level
which is why it’s non-irritating it’s
great for sensitive skin and it
typically won’t cause any redness or
irritation and they all might go to
depending on mood when I want to do a
dry cleansing oh guys and I couldn’t
mention cleansing without my ultimate
favorite to-die-for cleanser that I
recommend to everyone and it’s the neon
Sanskrit saponin cleanse us so the
formulation of this one is to arrive
from era Vedic plants opponent it’s got
a bunch of very natural amino acids that
were present from you know traditional
times that’s how they came about
formulating this so this one is a
basically a cleansing balm and as you
can see I’m like almost done with it
I’ve used two of these as well because
it’s my ultimate favorite and this I
think is like probably creme de la creme
of dry cleansing
and if you want to use this one you
basically put a bunch on your palm you
kind of massage it in and then you kind
of work that into the face like the
others as well what this does is really
just like oh my gosh it’s like TLC for
your skin and it’s like a cleansing mask
and another reason why this one is
perfect for this method is because it’s
alcohol silicon and oil freeze highly
recommend of you cocktail order okay so
after cleansing which takes us on to the
next tip patting dry so normally we
would just grab out towel out face towel
whatever it is and kind of Pat it dry
but a method that you can try if you
have a little bit more time especially
now that we’re all at home is instead of
patting your face dry after cleansing to
allow it to just dry normally with a
little bit of help by patting in the
water so leave it damp before moving on
to different skin care products and I
think damp skin is a key element because
it will help those water-based products
like toners and serums be able to absorb
and sink into a skin a little bit more
so Christine from glow recipe was
actually the one who mentioned this to
us and she said it was a well known tip
in the kind of Korean skincare industry
that you want to be as gentle as
possible and you want to take away any
potential like contaminants or bacteria
and if we think about our towel it’s
kind of just like chilling there for
days to weeks right depending on how
high genic you are so after you cleanse
you can like just Pat it in pepper
pepper pepper pepper pepper until your
face feels about like maybe 80% dry it’s
not like gushing down to the water
because then if you think about it
you’re really allowing the water that’s
left on your skin to be absorbed into
the skin so if anything it’s kind of
like this like effective almost
invisible step of hydration in your skin
care routine that you could be just
wasting away and also Oreo there are
Japanese brand that’s known for the
medical grade high quality hyaluronic
acid to the point where it’s actually
trademarked and they said for their
level of hyaluronic
that’s formulated in their skincare
products you can really only get the
benefits when you press it into the skin
and kind of just very lightly work it in
through this like palm motion so this
one’s a pretty basic one but I think is
pretty mind-blowing if you think about
it in terms of hydration and what you’re
taking away that could actually be
helping the plumpness keeping your cells
hydrated and happy and once again this
is also just like being mindful and
really taking the time and appreciating
the moments that we’re spending without
skin because it is a relationship you
know you give it some it gives you some
and then you’re all brought up together
so that I think takes us on to our next
step
pretty seamlessly and it’s about
applying out next few skincare products
to damp skin so we’ve talked about this
before if you think of your skin as kind
of like it’s not exactly the same but
just the principle of it like a sponge a
sponge is able to absorb more water and
more easily when it’s slightly wet
already whereas if it’s completely dry
the water just kind of sits and hovers
over the top until it kind of penetrates
down and we also showed this in a way
with a tissue paper applying a toner
first a water-based toner it’s able to
sink through the tissue whereas if you
have your moisturizer and you play it to
the tissue it sits there and that’s why
it also relates to the order in which we
apply it always goes from thinnest and
watery formulations all the way to
thicker consistency is that are more
oil-based your toner is basically water
so on damp skin it will be able to
collect more especially if it’s like
hyaluronic it will grab water from the
outside as well as the ones that are
already in a skin from patting and it
will just really help to plump up our
overall face and skin and this is also
why it’s great to use your active
ingredients earlier on because that way
it can travel through the skin a little
bit more effectively so doctor Dave and
Lynn who is a board-certified
dermatologist in Australia hi palsy hmm
he also reiterate as well as the DCM
chief scientific officer they all state
that our skin is like brick and mortar
for products to actually work their way
into our skin it goes through the mortar
which
in between the bricks and because that’s
actually made up of a lot of different
oils and what our skin naturally
produces in order for that to really
travel down timing is very important and
also dr. Dre said if you’re gonna put a
moisturizer on make sure you’re applying
a generous layer of moisturizer onto a
damp or wet to skin so that it can
actually trap that in otherwise you
ain’t trapped nothing yo so I’m gonna
share with you a little tip so for
whatever reason if your skin just tends
to dry out really quickly if you’re
around heaters or if it’s really hot and
it just evaporates after you wash your
face you can actually use a mist like
these are my three current favorite ones
that I have on hand all the time after I
come out of the shower it’s the fresh
vitamin Ekta antioxidant glow water this
one smells like an absolute dream
because it is anti oxidant it’s got
vitamin C E as well as vitamin b5 and
the scent comes from the subtle lemon
and orange extracts all the LaRouche per
se zero zinc this one has a little bit
of zinc sulfate for cleansing and
soothing the skin especially if you have
acne prune or the narrow gen white
truffle ample drop mist and this one has
a little bit of oil as well so for those
of you who are on the dryer combination
side you can spray this on just to like
buy yourself some time you know I always
do this like I come out maybe I have to
do something in between cleansing and my
turn oh so I’ll just spritz a bit of
this on there that’s a trick that I love
doing and I actually do it all the way
like if I’m coming out of the shower
I’ll just spray it all over my like top
area isn’t it just so satisfying to see
like all your skin care products like
obedient little children just waiting
for you to use everyday mmm
okay so next tip I feel like is almost
probably the most important principle to
understand when it comes to skin care
and it’s all about timing so this can be
broken into three different ways the
first is kind of timing in between
applying different products in your
skincare routine for example giving your
self the time in between to let the
water after cleansing sink in and then
applying
Tona letting the toner like absorb
before going in with your serum giving
it that like a 30-second in between and
allowing it to really get into the skin
and making sure it’s worked in well is
pivotal with my experience with not
giving it enough time is that my
skincare will pill especially in the
morning when you’re using things like
Sirians moisturizer sunscreen by the
time you get to makeup it’s like all
rubbing off in this disgusting like
little balls on your face and it’s just
a complete waste of all the products
that you’ve put in and all the amount of
time that you’ve used second timing
factor is in terms of daytime routine
and nighttime routine we get a lot of
questions about like can I use this at
night can I just send the date it really
just depends we typically like using
antioxidant rich ingredients during the
day so that will include you know
niacinamide vitamin C antioxidants those
are your powerhouse ingredients whereas
that night it’s about working with your
body’s regenerative processes
that’s why I’ll go in with BJ’s or
salicylic acid or retinol as my active
ingredients at night and then you know
using a moisturizer that’s full of
ceramides and are very nourishing to the
skin so your actives are working to help
regenerate and then sealing it off with
a very soothing moisturizer overnight so
that by the morning you can then protect
it again but it’s literally like this
mmm
that’s how I kind of approach it but
definitely I use vitamin C at night as
well it really just depends on what
ingredients there are and what you want
to really bring out in that day and then
the third and one of the most important
like principles to understand is when it
comes to I don’t know chemical
exfoliation and I feel like in the
skincare industry a lot of people are
getting really excited about like you
know glycolic acid lactic acid all these
different acids but the thing to really
note is that once again we should take a
much slower and more mindful approach to
using chemical exfoliants because they
work absolutely one doesn’t they’re
naturally derived so it’s not going to
be like super harsh but anything used
Xtreme is not going to be magical it’s
actually going to be a nightmare the
thing with chemical exfoliants is that
it ranges completely depending on the
product you use some of them are
formulated for daily use in which we
think it’s fine
but at the beginning if it’s the first
time that you’ve used it try once a week
and then two times a week and then three
times a week and then you’ll see that
your skin will start building up a
tolerance for example these are four
different products that all have
chemical exfoliating ingredients in them
so this is the glow recipe watermelon
glow PHA PHA turn up this one says you
can use it every day but you might be
wondering but it has BHA and it has PHA
that chemical exfoliants kind of use it
every day the thing is this says that
you can use it every day so when it says
that you can generally it’s formulated
in a way that is gentle enough to be
used every day so meaning the
percentages of the chemical exfoliants
probably a little bit lower and then
following on from that you have to just
trial an era like even though it says
use it every day if you feel pain don’t
use it every day I’ve been using it at
like every single day absolutely love it
it’s got cactus water as the first
ingredient to replace just normal water
and then it’s got willow bark which is a
naturally derived bhj as well as pH J
which is a chemical exfoliant which is
much better for sensitive skin because
it doesn’t have the irritating effects
I’ve realized my poles are actually much
more minimized and not you know the
sebaceous glands on having a field day
then not plump and juicy in like ways
that we don’t want because we don’t want
pause plump and juicy so this is the one
that I’ve been loving something like
this the peach and Lily super reboot
surfacing mask that has a che and BHA as
well as the blue agave is only to be
used for 15 to 20 minutes like once or
twice each week because the percentage
of this is a little bit stronger you
shouldn’t use it every day otherwise
you’ll probably give yourself a chemical
burn one way to tell is if it’s feeling
too tight it’s taut it’s itchy and dry
when it shouldn’t be so that’s one way
to kind of tell if you’ve overdone it
and that is a big hint to go back to
your soothing ingredients like satella
like Sarah
mine’s amino acids and shea butter just
like patched that up girls something
like this is also similar to the peach
and Louie reboot is the drunk elephant
Sakaki baby facial this says 25% hj2 %
BHA so this is even more potent than the
peach and Lily
so that really works to break down
slough off all that dead skin and so you
would definitely not use this every day
you will be on fire but something like
this will definitely say use once a week
yes for 20 minutes and then even
something like this this is a serum the
pharmacy honey glow with AJ this is a
night serum so it already tells you we
only use the cent night and only use
this true to three weeks when you use it
in the right way and when your skin is
adapting to it you’ll really see the
benefits of it being ambitious with
chemical exfoliants is not the way to go
make time to really understand your skin
so the last skincare boosting step that
we can put more attention to is actually
lymphatic drainage so lymphatic drainage
is something that I think a lot of
people might not really realize the
benefits of but it is so effective if
you battle things like puffiness
especially around the eye it just
creates like a marshmallow face
especially when you wake up in the
morning all of that has to do with the
fluids that are pulling in certain areas
of our skin and our body so this can
happen because maybe of consuming too
much sodium sodium stores a lot of water
and so that’s why sometimes when we eat
instant noodles we wake up the next day
with a completely puffer fish looking
face so what you want to do is offset
that and eat potassium potassium rich
foods like bananas to help that sodium
flush throughout body if you’ve ever
seen those pictures of the human body
and it’s got different nodes those are
related to kind of the passageways that
are within our body that you know fluids
blood toxins they all travel through and
there’s main ones the nodes that need to
get drained because sometimes they’ll
get stagnant there and stagnant areas
collect toxins which then brings out
things like inflammation acne irritation
and those are the areas that we want to
focus on so we talked to actually peach
and lily senior Oh
and I asked her what’s a tradition that
has been handed down to you and she was
like it’s actually facial massage she
actually does these facial exercises
every day for about ten to thirty
minutes as well as lymphatic drainage so
you don’t want to use dry hands or just
like create too much friction because
then you’re then causing wrinkles and
fine lines but you want to make sure
there’s some sort of like lubricating
oil or moisturizer so you can use the
fingers to start from the center areas
of your face you can do this on the
forehead because when we frown a lot
throughout the day or if you’re in the
Sun and you’re kind of like shielding
from the Sun like these muscles will get
very tense in the forehead and the
eyebrow area or that region so you want
to just loosen that up at the end of the
day there’s a point under here just the
eyebrows and there’s a draining spot
under here so you want to release that
and then drain down and this isn’t just
in terms of puffiness this also helps to
wake up the eyes you can press along
here as acupoints or acupuncture points
that will help you feel a little bit
more awake during the day but then in
terms of the chin just use these two
fingers and go up and just repeat that
between three to five times and then
drained out and this is a very popular
method in Japanese culture as well as
Korean culture and one specifically
called the Tanaka face massage and if
you do this every day it will definitely
help with things like sagging with stiff
or tense like muscles which can cause
kind of like very subtle deformities so
with this technique it’s about doing it
consistently every day you know we can’t
always rely on our youth forever we have
to take more care in ourselves and our
practices and our rituals so that is the
video guys I really hope you guys
enjoyed this bringing out the best of
the products that we have as well as
what when naturally given and we stand
by all these tips as well as our
aesthetician friends and skincare guru
you know CEO friends who have formulated
different products we have a lot of
experience in the industry share with us
their knowledge and they also approve of
these so we really hope that you
incorporate it into your next daytime
nighttime routine or even along with
this video let us know if you have any
other skincare rituals and hope you guys
are staying safe and enjoying our videos
while you’re at home so yes thank you so
