🌴Selfless by Hyram Skincare Product Review 🌴
Um… okay. Hello everybody welcome back to my channel, where skincare is all about progression over perfection. Because, perfection doesn’t exist. Today it’s happening, we are reviewing Selfless by Hyram.
This is of course Hyram’s skincare brand, powered by the Inkey List. Now, before I start this review, of course I have to throw out a few disclaimers. First of all, I’m already a huge fan of the Inkey List, so knowing that this brand is kind of powered by them, it’s kind of not surprising that I like more of these products than I do dislike these products.
Also, Hyram is a friend of mine so I am going to be keeping this review as unbiased as possible. I think what’s more important than giving a fluffy kind of like, oh it’s all perfect it’s a great review, especially when it comes to your friend, is giving an honest review.
And I know Hyram being Hyram that that’s something that he’ll appreciate way more than a fake review. And whilst this video isn’t sponsored, these products were gifted to me very nicely by Hyram, about a month ago now.
So I’ve been using these products for just over a month. H: So, obviously this is top-secret. J: Okay. H: I’m going to be launching my own skincare brand. J: Yes! I knew it! When it arrived I was like.
.. what’s in there? H: I know, I know. I bet you’re like, listening. I have been working on a skincare brand for a while and it’s actually going to be kind of like a new type of brand, in the sense I’m collaborating with a much bigger brand to make this launch as accessible and big as possible.
So, I’m actually, this, let me tell you the name of the brand. So the brand, the brand is called Selfless, Selfless by Hyram, and it’s powered by the Inkey List. J: Ahhhhh! No way! Oh my god! Oh sh*t! I’m gonna like it then.
I think there’s two, there’s two Inkey List products I don’t like out of however many they have. H: So the brand philosophy is that it’s, all the products have a gentle active philosophy, a gentle act of utilizing like tried and true, research-driven ingredients alongside innovative natural extracts that focus on supporting the skin’s health while also delivering actives.
So… J: Very you. H: very much… Yes, very me. Who’s surprised at this point. The fragrance is amazing it smells so good. The entire philosophy of the brand is built on the Selfless standards, so it’s newer levels of ingredient transparency.
We went to extra lengths to know the exact sourcing processes of every single ingredient, working with ingredients that partner with communities where they’re sourced from, to develop empowerment programs, sustainable packaging.
The packaging is actually made out of a sugar cane bioplastic that removes the carbon from the environment in the process, and we’re able to make it so that the packaging has like a nine, like, like a 95% chance of recyclability.
And you can… J: Oh my god, Hyram. H: Like just…. J: This must have been so much work. I’m just like shaking my head like, oh my god, the amount of work that would have had to go into all those processes is insane.
H: The only way I could have made that attention to detail possible was, you know, through, through partnering with Inkey List. And the most amazing part of the brand is that I really didn’t want to create the brand until I realized that it could be like a catalyst for positive social change.
Where I realized like, I’m gonna be a brand founder, if I’m gonna have my own company I have like another level of responsibility, more than just, you know, corporate social responsibility types of structure.
I need to do something way more major. So, every single product has a direct and measurable social impact that alleviates some of the world’s most pressing issues. And, it’s really cool because that’s what we’re leading with, it’s social impact first, skincare second.
Obviously with incredible formulas that I’m so proud of. Why don’t we find an opportunity to like connect our purchasing power to something bigger and find opportunities to be more selfless, you know.
So that’s the overall philosophy of, of the brand. Are you ready for the exciting news? J: Yeah, yes. H: Okay. So Selfless is going to be launching globally at Sephora… J: F*ck off! Straight away? Sorry! [Laughter] H: Crazy right? We’re going to be launching like front of store in like North America, Australia, Asia, Middle East, Europe.
You can open the box, I know you’re like so ready too. J: My foot’s literally tapping, I, I pre-opened the paper cause I didn’t want it to be all fiddly. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Oh that’s cool. That’s so cute.
Ahh!! Niacinamide and Maracujá? H: Maracujá. J: What’s that? H: Do you know Maracujá? J: No. H: So it’s only really been used in a few products on the market, it’s an incredible oil that focuses on really boosting the strength of the moisture barrier and really delivering a lot of hydration into the skin.
J: Oh, it’s nice. I don’t want to show you like you’ve not seen your products before. [Laughter] Just a habit. H: And you’ll see kind of the uniqueness of the tube because it’s… J: Oh yeah. H: So one of the reasons we also went with that, obviously we prioritized sustainability first but it’s like a squeezed tube, it allows for minimal air and light exposure and precise application so you don’t, you’re not dipping in the formula, you’re not, you know, all that kind of stuff.
J: That is nice Hyram. Oh, sh*t, that is so good. Oh my god. Centella & Green Tea Cleanser, Daily Gel Cleanser. Oh my god. H: I’m so nervous. J: I don’t know why I keep sniffing stuff like I expect fragrance to be in it, because I know you exactly, wouldn’t have.
.. Oh my god. Why doesn’t it smell like rose? H: I know. And for all the serums that you see, so the tubing, you only have to use like three to five drops for every single one of them, just use barely any.
And so when, it’s like a, the specific type of tube makes it really precise so you can do just drop, by drop, by drop. J: I can already tell this is gonna be one of my favorite serums. F*cking Mandelic Acid and Rice, Rice Bran.
H: Is so good. So my whole test with that, I’ve never been able to use an exfoliating product on my neck because my skin is so sensitive to exfoliants. That one is the only exfoliating product I have ever been able to use on my neck and it’s so good.
J: Oh my God. It’s so light though, it’s so light and like um… not, not quite water texture but like a little bit like, like full fat water. Oh my god. These combinations, how the f*ck did you come up with these combinations? I, I don’t think I’ve ever seen these before, in the serums.
H: That’s the goal. So… J: It’s ridiculous. H: Kind of like I said, the tried and true ingredients that everyone knows. Salicylic Acid, Retinol, you know, um… Niacinamide but also combine it with more unique textures.
Sorry, with more unique ingredients that people haven’t really heard of or don’t know much about so that was kind of the philosophy. J: Yeah. This dropper packaging… H: Is it working? J: It’s really cool, yeah.
It just makes it a bit more um… how to explain it. Like precise, like you can stop it coming out when you want to stop it coming out, do you know what I mean? H: Yeah. J: Like a pippet. H: I mean, that was the thing, when we were developing the formulas, I was like, I want a little bit to go a long way.
That way it that lasts for as long as possible so you’re not having to repurchase and creating more waste. J: Yeah. H: But I was just like I don’t know how we’re going to be able to make it so that people are only able to use like a few drops, without it being in a dropper form, which kind of exposes it to light and everything like that.
J: I know these ingredients, other than the what was it? Mer… what was it? H: Maracujá. J: Yeah, that’s it. Other than that I know all these ingredients but I’ve never seen them together like this, but it makes perfect sense.
That’s good, that’s exactly what I wanted. J: Oh my God. H: The last thing I wanted to create was products where people were like, oh you know I’ve seen that before. J: Yeah, yeah. Like we try so many products, right? We try like hundreds of products and I’ve just never seen this kind of combination, or this pack.
.. where the f*ck did this packaging come from? H: I know, literally. When they were like, oh we we found this sugar cane bioplastic in Brazil and I was like, whoa that’s so cool, and, yeah yeah. J: Oh my God.
H: I mean, that’s so good though because the main thing I was like, I just want this to be different. I don’t want it to be like anything people have ever seen. Wanted it to be unique, you know. So the fact that you’re saying you haven’t seen anything like it is good.
That’s really… J: It’s so good. The packaging’s so cute as well and… H: Good. J: Ohhh!!! So when do you launch officially? How much time do I have? H: So the brand is being announced June 1st. J: Okay cool.
H: So really soon. And then it’s going live on the 24th of June. I’m just like, now you finally know why I haven’t been able to get any sleep, why I’ve been so stressed. J: Yes! I’ve been watching like your like stories and stuff and it’s like, sleep, I’m like I’m not gonna tell him to get some sleep but f*cking get some sleep.
[Laughter] But now I understand why you haven’t, and it’s all worth it. It’s all worth it. I’m immediately gonna go wash my face and do my skincare because I’ve been dying, the last 24 hours I’ve just been like.
.. I knew, I knew it was gonna be your skincare but like I just… Oh! It’s going to be so good. H: Thank you. I was like, as soon as I mentioned you were getting a package I was like, that’s like a dead giveaway.
J: The, what’s it called? The post that you set for everyone now. J: Not at all. R: I’m not gonna bother, I’m gonna bring out, I don’t know, like a fitness workout. [Laughter] H: Stop. Not at all. J: Okay, well thank you so much.
H: Of course. J: It’s so good to speak to you. H: Yeah, good to talk. Have a good rest of your night. R: You too, I’ll see you soon. H: Bye. J: Bye. So, some general notes as well before we get going.
Overall, I’m actually really impressed with this skincare line. Not just saying that because Hyram is my friend, and I’m kind of not surprised, as I said because I do like the Inkey List products. I think out of all of the brand there’s maybe like four products? Yeah, like two to four, I can’t remember, there’s only a handful products that I don’t like.
But I’m actually super impressed by the ingredient combinations. I’m someone who tries, tests, and reviews so many different skincare products throughout the last five years, I’ve seen a lot, I’ve used a lot.
I’ve seen so many things. The combinations are kind of like, they took me back a little bit, because they are combinations that I’ve never seen before, but also make sense at the same time. But I think in general when it comes to an influencer creating a brand, whether that’s skincare or makeup, I think that’s when it kind of, the influencer comes in handy as part of a team, creating a brand.
You know, we get thousands of comments on a daily basis of people saying what they don’t like about product, what they do like about the product, what they wish was different. And then we have hundreds of thousands of feedback about products, that I feel play an important part when it comes to creating your own kind of brand.
I’ll be super honest, when it comes to the sustainable side of things I’m not super educated on it, it’s something that I hope to educate myself on further. It’s just difficult because it’s not as black and white as a lot of people make it out to be.
And Selfless by Hyram has a lot of hopes, a lot of targets for what they want to achieve through this brand, in the next 12 months. If you look on the inside of their packaging they actually have their goals written down on the inside.
And I’ll be honest with you, if this was any other brand I’d be like, right, okay, fine, whatever. You know, they’re saving trees and whatnot. But because I, I guess this is where knowing Hyram comes in handy, comes into play.
Because knowing hyam, I know this is genuinely something he really, really cares about, and I know this would have been something genuinely that was rooted very deeply in what he wanted to do when it came, when it came to creating a skincare brand.
And I’m extremely excited for him, I’m extremely proud of him. I’m so, so happy for him, and I am looking forward to, and I think a lot of people are kind of interested to see what exactly does happen within the next 12 months, you know.
You know, let’s come back in 12 months and see exactly what change this brand has managed to create. When it comes to the pricing of this brand, of course, prices are all relative. What people find affordable is all relative.
I saw a few comments mentioning that the serums were a little bit pricey. For me, in my own personal opinion, 30 ml, around the 20 to 30 pounds/ dollar mark is what I usually pay for a serum. For example, some of my favorite COSRX serums are just the kind of pounds/dollars cheaper than the Selfless by Hyram ones.
So I personally, that is where I put my money within a skincare routine. That’s not to say that these aren’t expensive for some people, just for me, as this is my review, this is a price point I’m comfortable with when it comes to the products.
And I think you also have to factor in the points as well that sustainability is expensive, and I think that’s why a lot of brands don’t bother doing it. From what I know, please do correct me if I’m wrong.
If everything’s Fairtrade you’re wanting to pay the right people the right amount. I think unfortunately at this moment in time, it’s a little bit pricier to do. That being said, brands like L’Oreal who have huge amounts of money, you know, they’re, they’re worth millions, maybe billions, I don’t know, have made some significant changes as well to their products, to their brands.
So yeah, this is where I would put my money into, serums. However, you could find great serums at all price points. So, I’m going to start with my favorite product and then I’m going to go down to not my least favorite, but the ones I was using the least.
So the first product we’re going to talk about is the Centella & Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser. I love this cleanser. I love, really, really, really love this cleanser. It feels like what everybody wants, and kind of expects from a modern day cleanser.
So let’s talk about the texture and usage, and then we’ll talk about some of the ingredients. So this is a super lightweight, very gently foaming cleanser. It gives a very good not deep clean but a nice cleanse without overly stripping the skin, and it’s a PH of what? 5.
5 to 5.7. So if you’ve used the Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser before, imagine that but kind of like whipped up a little bit, and softer, and lighter. That’s a terrible description. I don’t know, something like that.
So super lightweight. Your skin, once it’s rinsed off feels untouched, it doesn’t feel stripped. It feels like nothing’s happened. And I feel like every time I use a new cleanser this is kind of what I’m experiencing nowadays, I feel like non-stripping, lightly foaming cleansers have kind of become the norm and the expectation.
It seems to be like a worldwide standard now. And the cleansers are getting better, and better, and better at being genuinely non-stripping. And this is a great example of, as I said, what people want and expect from a cleanser.
This is also quite a simple cleanser in a nice way as well. So we have the surfactant coco-glucoside glucoside I believe it’s pronounced, which is a coconut-derived surfactant. Meaning it’s not drying.
Not that surfactants are drying inherently but some of them can be. And we have Glycerin as well which works as a great moisturizing ingredient and humectant too. We love glycerin! We also have something I was pleasantly surprised to see, well not surprised because it’s Hyram, but it’s some kind of like K-beauty staple ingredients here like Centella Asiatica, and of course Green Tea.
So Centella is known for being calming, soothing, healing. I personally like in my serums, because it calms down my redness and any irritation I may have on the skin. Green Tea is of course a great antioxidant.
And again, very soothing which is, all kind of like the all over vibe of this product. Now, I need to talk about this because a fair few people mentioned and were in my DM’s about the percentages of Green Tea and Centella used in the cleanser.
So, because these ingredients fall under the 1% line in the ingredient list, however the brand says that they’ve got 5% Green Tea and 3% Centella. This is because they’re what’s known as complex ingredients.
So I have something to read here, so according to Cosmetic Formulator Annalisa aka the Skin Perspective over on Instagram. She’s amazing, she’s so great. Any kind of skincare formulation questions I have, I DM her.
According to her, “Complexes are raw ingredients that are composed of a few other ingredients.” She posted some stories which I’ll pop up here, and you can pause to read them to understand. Bit of maths.
So, is this anything new or shady within the skincare industry? No. The ingredient is still as effective, it’s industry standard. Is it a little bit confusing? Yes, it is. As a consumer it’s a little bit confusing but we are yet to see the deeper dives into the products from Hyram.
Where I’m sure, knowing Hyram, I’m sure… see, this is where it gets a little bit biased because I know Hyram, so I know that he will take us on a deeper dive, and explain why they’ve used all these particular ingredients.
But overall, I love this product. Will I purchase it with my own money? Absolutely, I absolutely love this. In all honesty I’ve used nothing but this, no, I’ve used one of cleanser which you’ll hear about on Sunday actually.
I’ve used this cleanser, mainly, non-stop for the last month, morning and evening. I absolutely love it. I’m like, I’ve nearly finished it, and I need to get another one. The next product is the Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum.
I like this a lot, like a lot, a lot. I didn’t think I would like this product because, I’ve mentioned this before, but Retinol doesn’t seem to be playing fair with my skin. After realizing that Retinol can be quite irritating for people with rosacea I kind of calm down a bit.
My rosacea’s been a lot better. My problem is though, I love the results of Retinol. My pores look smaller but my cheeks get more red, and my flare-ups get worse. So I was like, what do I do? I kind of took a break with Retinol and then I started using Glow Recipes Avocado Overnight Retinol.
.. something, and my skin loves that, it’s so, so gentle on my skin. and I thought that was kind of the only Retinol I can use but my skin loves this one. So this contains 0.2% encapsulated Retinol which helps with stability and delivering the ingredients into the skin.
0.2% feels like a comfortable level for me, I don’t feel like I need a 1% to be completely honest with you. I’m really cutting down my actives and going a bit backwards rather than trying to reach those high percentages, and it seems to be working well for my skin.
What I do love about the launch of this video, which is great because of Hyram’s demographic… we all think Hyram’s demographic is teenagers but I don’t really know. I think it might be a bit older as well.
Is how the brand emphasizes that Retinol isn’t just about anti-aging,]. We have people who aren’t even like 18 yet looking to use Retinol for anti-aging or prevention, when really Retinol is great for teenagers as well when it comes to things like breakouts.
It was in my prescription acne medication product when I was like 14, 15. So yeah, it’s amazing at fighting breakouts, acne, clearing up that post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. And I’ve noticed very nice results, because it’s 0.
5% I’ve been using it maybe two times a week. I’m up to three times a week with the Glow Recipe mask. So, I’ve been using this two times a week and I noticed the same results, smoother looking skin, instantly smoother skin which I’ll talk about in a minute.
Smaller looking pores, especially on the top of the nose. I know that’s very precise, but on top of the nose. I haven’t been breaking out a lot, so I’ve not seen much in the way of clearing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
I had a mini breakout but it didn’t really cause a lot of dark spots so I can’t speak to that half. Unlike other Retinols as well this is non-drying, your skin doesn’t feel flaky, there’s no redness involved or irritation with my skin, whatsoever.
Speaking of those instant results, when I use this I was like, I swear my skin looks instantly smoother, and it did, it looked a lot smoother, And I wasn’t quite sure why but then Hyram mentioned in one of the launch videos that the Squalane gives that effect, and I did kind of think, yeah actually.
When I use like Bioscience for example, their products with Squalane in, it does give this kind of like temporary smooth effect to your skin, which I really, really do like. I use it in the evening, so no one’s seeing it anyway.
Algae is still a newish ingredient to me and I’ve kind of only really known it as like a moisturizing ingredient, as well as like a humectant. But according to Selfless by Hiram, Rainbow Algae can help remove dark spots, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
But that’s new to me, I don’t really know to be honest with you. Also, depending on where you live, I believe it’s only in Canada that you will get this without Tranexamic Acid in. I love the Inkey List Tranexamic Acid when it comes to helping fade dark spots, it’s something I used non-stop two years ago because it was just so good.
So yeah, it’ll be good to see if I, when I do break out eventually how effective this would be at really getting rid of those dark spots. That’s a relatively new one, so still early days there. Will I be buying this again? Yeah, I think I will.
I think I will. I think once I’m out of my Glow Recipe Avocado Mask I’ll buy this again because, to be honest with you, it feels, I kind of like my retinol in the serum stage over the moisturizer stage.
I got many more moisturizers I’d rather use over the Glow Recipe one. I still like the Glow Recipe one but I do like my treatments kind of within that serum stage, rather than my moisturizers. And it is $30, it is the most expensive product in the whole line.
Whilst I can afford that I do understand that that is a little bit on the pricier side for a lot of people, especially younger people. But yeah, I will be purchasing it myself, I believe. The next product is the Niacinamide & Maracuja Daily Barrier Support Moisturizer.
I keep having to read that word because I had never heard of it before I spoke to Hyram. Again, this is very nice. I want you to imagine Versed Dew Point Moisturizer with Rovectin Lotus Water Cream and kind of just like mix them up together, that’s this moisturizer.
Two of my current favorites kind of in one. So this moisturizer contains 5% Niacinamide, kind of like the perfect amount to have in your skincare. A lot of people go straight into using 10% Niacinamide and then kind of react to it a little bit, then kind of get put off Niacinamide forever.
And I think because 10% is just like a little bit too much, I don’t think people really need to use it when 5% is so effective. But yes, Niacinamide we know has a long checklist of what it can do, as far as help improve pore size, control sebum production, help brighten skin tone, even skin tone.
And I’d never heard of Maracuja, uh Maracuja before. I believe it’s derived from passion fruit seeds, I actually don’t know much about it. So essentially it’s rich in essential fatty acids, it keeps our skin moisturized.
It’s great for those with dry skin it’s Linoleic Acid so it’s okay for people with acne, and in general it’s great for damaged skin. As I said, great moisturizer. At the moment I currently have combination skin and I find my skin is changing the older I get.
I have dry cheeks and a very oily t-zone which is actually dehydrated. And during the day this is a great moisturizer that helps combat, kind of work with all, everything going on, on my face. It’s light enough for my oily skin, it’s not heavy but it’s nourishing and moisturizing enough for those dry areas.
And again, it’s light enough to have those layers and layers of sunscreen that I prefer to use during the day. That being said however, at night this is a little bit too light for me. I used it for a couple nights in a row and I woke up with pretty dry skin, not dry but I didn’t have that plump kind of like hydrated dewy skin that I like to wake up with.
So I do prefer something heavier, a little bit more occlusive in the evening. However, if you have very oily skin this is great for you. And something I’ll be using in the hotter weather for sure, 100%.
The next product is the Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp. So this is probably the product that I use the least, not because it was bad but just because I found myself not really needing it, to be honest with you.
That being said, this is such a nice lightweight serum, especially during the day. It’s weird, because when I first used this, when I saw the texture of it, very lightweight, very watery, very fluidy.
I was like, oh, this is going to dry right down to the skin. But you put it on, and it does disappear pretty quickly, but it leaves you feeling hydrated. Not as much as like a hydrating toner but it doesn’t leave you feeling dry and like, like stretchy.
A lot of the hydrating serums I usually use are a little bit thicker, and they tend to leave a little bit of product on the skin, and give you that glow that I like. But this doesn’t do that. It hydrates the skin without looking greasy, or having like an uh.
.. sheeny finish. This serum contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid, meaning it will gently exfoliate your skin over time but it’s actually gentle enough to use every day, if you want. So if you are oily, breakout prone, if you get a lot of congested pores, blackheads, all that kind of stuff, this is a great serum for you.
The more I talk about this serum, it sounds like something I would have loved as a teenager, when I was on that prescription medication, that prescription skincare from my Doctor. This sounds like something that pretty much would have helped me out lots.
We do have Inkey List’s famous Succinic Acid in here which targets that acne-causing bacteria. As well as Niacinamide which is going to help even out that sebum production, and again help fade any kind of those dark spots left over from breakouts.
Sea Kelp actually has quite a few benefits which I hadn’t really realized before. Again, I thought it was just like a moisturizing kind of ingredient. Actually, it contains lots of essential fatty acids, it keeps our skin barrier healthy and happy and helps prevent water loss.
As I mentioned I didn’t actually use this product a lot, because I did feel like I didn’t really need it. I haven’t properly broken out for a long time, and I’m not saying that this serum is only for you to use if you’re breaking out but I’m gonna have it on hand for when I’m breaking out because it sounds like it’s gonna very gently but effectively help clear those breakouts and blemishes at the same time.
If I was breaking out a lot, regularly, and my oils were still a bit of a a non-stop happening on my face, this is something I would be using more regularly, yeah. But really for me 0.5% Salicylic Acid, it’s not something I need in my routine at the moment.
I have my nice gentle exfoliating toners that I prefer to use like every other day. The final product is the Mandelic Acid & Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Serum. I actually thought this was going to be my favorite product because of the Rice Bran.
I remember being super excited about it. Slap rice on any product and I’m all for it, like with the I’m From Rice toner is one of my favorite products of all time. That kind of got me obsessed with rice in skincare.
Mandelic Acid I used a few times, I think it was the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid toner that I really, really did like actually. I don’t know why I’ve not used it again. I don’t know. But that’s just a nice gentle exfoliant.
I was actually really surprised about the texture of this product, because I thought it was gonna be really, really… not thick but a little bit creamier, a little bit milkier. But honestly, pop this in a bottle and this may as well be an exfoliating toner, you know, on a larger scale.
It’s got that fluidity to it, it’s very watery. So yes, Mandelic Acid is an AHA but it’s a lot gentler, it has a larger molecule size meaning it works slower on the skin. So you get all the benefits of an AHA but none of the irritation.
Removing dead skin cells, brighter looking skin, more even skin, more even skin texture. And it’s also very good at treating acne. And we have a PHA in here as well, which works very similarly, it’s like larger molecule size works slower and gentler.
PHA’s can actually help repair the skin barrier as well and has moisturizing properties. It’s actually very good at keeping your skin hydrated. We do have BHA in here, an oil soluble exfoliant that kind of works deeper into the pores.
So it’s great for things like blackheads, congested skin. Again, a small percent of 0.5.. So we have Rice Bran in here, which works great alongside exfoliants. It obviously helps brighten the skin whilst also targeting post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
As I said, really nice exfoliant, super lightweight, you really can’t feel it. And what I will say actually, about all these serums, is that a few drops does go a long way, it just spreads very evenly over the skin.
And the packaging is great in the way that you can control the exact dots. If you hold it by the top, not the top, not the, the… where the product comes out but the end of it and squeeze very gently, you can really, really precisely control the drops that you’re getting.
I usually use about four to five drops of each serum. I really do like this, if you’ve watched my channel recently you know that I’ve been going for lower percentage actives. So formulation wise, this is basically ideal for what I’m doing at the moment.
I kind of want this to be a toner. I know there’s going to be a reason why, you know, Hyram and toners kind of like don’t go together. I love toners, I love exfoliating toners. And I’m sure Hyram will tell me exactly why this isn’t a toner.
I’m sure with all the ingredients it would have been like a lot more expensive but you know, I think along the lines of the very gentle COSRX exfoliating toners they’re AHA, BHAh, they’re um ABC toner.
Honestly, turn this into an exfoliating tone and I’ll eat it up. No real reason, I just, I don’t think… This is one I won’t be purchasing because I feel like I’ve struck gold with my personal exfoliating products.
Again, the COSRX toners, the Glow Recipe exfoliating toner. And that’s, I think that’s another thing, like the Retinol I prefer Retinols in my serum stage and I prefer exfoliating in my toner stage, it’s just personal preference really.
This would be a perfect gentle exfoliating toner if… it’s not a toner, it’s a serum. If A, you’re new to exfoliants and you want to start getting into exfoliators. Or like me, you’re just bored of those ridiculously high percentages and the feel and the need to climb, and climb, and climb up those percentage ladders and you just want to take a more gentle approach to your skincare.
So yeah, unsurprisingly, I don’t hate any of these products. I think I knew this was going to be the case anyway, because Hyram has a lot of experience with products from all companies, and of course the Inkey List.
I really, really like the Inkey List. A lot of peop… Just going to say, a lot of people think we’re, everyone’s being paid by the Inkey List, we’re not. We just like it, it’s a good brand, get over it.
So yes, I feel like Hyram has the knowledge of what people like, and what he likes along with great formulators from a great brand. And these combinations are just so good. I think they’re so interesting, I think their something new.
I am really, really excited to see in a year’s time what his brand has managed to achieve. I’m looking forward to seeing if they launch a sunscreen, which I know he did tease a sample of. And I don’t know, maybe a toner one day, Hyram.
I don’t think the Inkey List even do a toner but we’ll see. I know that’s not his thing. But yeah, of course I’m impressed. I’m happy for Hyram, I’m excited to see what this brand can do within the industry.
I think before we all start, you know, already pre-judging what’s gonna happen and what this brand is about, I think we need to come back in 12 months and see, and see what’s gone down. Let me know if you’re gonna buy any of these products yourself, if you can get your hands on them.
I’m pretty sure they’re gonna sell out like that. I’ll put some more product reviews here, and some general light entertainment here, and I’ll see you over there.
